Hello,

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. According to this article, the right wing thinks they were insufficiently far right and hope to become more right so that they can win the next election.

This quote was especially disturbing:

Quote:

"Tea partiers will take over the Republican Party within four years," he said.

The Republicans took over the Tea Party after 2008, but it seems it was their most extreme members who did so. Now, rather than chill out, they want to push their extremism harder in the hopes of converting a 'moderate' GOP to their wackness and winning the next election.

I miss the small-government isolationist peaceniks who used to reside in the Tea Party. Back when it was Ron Paul's Tea Party.

As far as I'm concerned, it's the Judas Party now.

The Left went uber, hard core Left after W won in 2000. The GOP tried to 'stay the course', which is why it got it's clock cleaned in the '06 and '08 elections. Americans were fed up, with the grid lock, the back rubbing of the opposition, which benefited everyone IN D.C., but basically screwed everyone else. Thus, the TEA party arose. And showed great promise in 2010. Mitt ? He was a gov from deep blue Mass. Not exactly at TEA party strong hold ( sad commentary on our nation, if ya think about it )

Cut spending, lower taxes, limit the size and power of the Imperial Federal Govt... do that, or we'll be in the exact same spot as Greece is today.

It shouldn't in the least bit be " disturbing ". Obama's lurch to the extreme Left, dictating State control over Religious institutions, via birth control mandates, exceeds the principles for which this country was founded.

And while the Dems divert attention away from their spending, on TOP of what W expanded the govt, with this lunacy of ' get the rich', pitting American vs American, the root of the problem continues to grow, unabated.

The GOP absolutely needs to tack further to the right, as long as it's on a FISCAL course, and not a Social one. And it MUST be able to make that distinction, even extending an arm to the Ron Paulinistas, and turning its back on the Rick Santorum crowd.

Hello,

Bah. They had that course to follow in 2007-2008, and they abandoned it with gusto.

You will know the GOP has found the right path when they talk about cutting military spending, ending the war of drugs, quitting the patriot act, quit mixing religion with politics, stop acting like illegal immigrants represent a Mars Attacks phenomenon, and quit trying to dictate the contents of women's wombs.

Fat chance.

And wanting to abate the flow of illegals , which to date has been like a turnstile at a county fair, isn't by any stretch analogous to "Mars Attacks". A sovereign nation with clearly defined borders should act as such. It's not , by any stretch, a violation of human rights to put reasonable restrictions on HOW MANY folks come into the country. Hello,

As I said. Fat Chance.

The wrong choices are the ones you love too much to let go of. Fiscal conservatism can take a hike when there's new military spending possibilities, and individual freedom can fall by the wayside when the temptation looms to put both of your grubby hands inside a woman's uterus.

The Human Beings that need protection are the women, by the way. The people already born, who need to have a say about their own bodies.

But the GOP doesn't have any strong feelings about helping the already born.

How many of those non-human contents would be women ?

Clearly, you irrational hatred has blinded you, once again. You're whining about a complete NON issue, on the idea that some how abortions will be banned, completely, when that's so far down the list of possibilities, as well as priorities we face on a NATIONAL level.

In short, it's a phony, emotionally charged issue.

As for spending, we spend more on welfare than we do for the military. So again, get off your one trick pony, and TRY to have a serious discussion.

If ya can.

Would be?

It's hard to say. But 100% of the people whose wombs the GOP wants to control ARE women. Right now. In actuality.

Quote:

That is a stated goal of the GOP. Strongly stated. Avowed, even. So if it's a NON issue, maybe they should stop vowing to accomplish it.

Quote:

we spend more on welfare than we do for the military.

And the GOP would like to flip that ratio. More money for killing folks, less money for helping them. Which is a terrible idea. So these one-trick-ponies are actually a whole herd of bad GOP ideas that they refuse to abandon.

So let's bring the boys home from Iraq, Korea, and Germany and line 'em up along the border, shoulder to shoulder, all the way from Niagra Falls to Vancouver. Oh, you meant some other border? Now they no longer advocate for these things.

Hello,

The old, more brilliant members of the Tea Party realized that Taxes could only be diminished if we ended wars on people and drugs, stopped policing the world, and shut down unneeded military assets. Generally discontinuing all the stupid things government does that chews up money.

I could take them seriously because yes, they wanted to cut Federal aid programs... but they also wanted to cut everything else. Not any more.

" LIE "

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Welfare spending exceeds that for Social Security, Medicare, and defense

The federal government spent $3.6 trillion in fiscal year 2011, according to the Congressional Budget Office. Mandatory spending totaled about $2.0 trillion, or 56 percent of all federal outlays. That category includes spending for entitlement programs and certain other payments to people, businesses, nonprofit institutions, and state and local governments. Federal spending on Welfare is now the largest part of the federal budget, exceeding that spent on defense, Medicare, and Social Security.

Reagan's actual words, unlike those of Jesus, are there on YouTube for all to see.

The claim that the TEA party wouldn't accept him,TODAY, is beyond absurd. Go back to what Reagan was talking about, as far back as the 60's, and then again , through out the 80's.

His views sync up almost entirely. Problem is, the country has lurched so far to the Left, what he was saying THEN, is even more prophetic. He saw what was coming... even back then.

Hello,

An astute observation. The philosophy of Jesus Christ is dripping with love and charity. Too few Christians adopt even a fraction of that.

So now that the Republicans have discovered that being anti-immigration loses them the Latino vote and gone and upended their heart-felt beliefs on the subject, how soon until AURaptor claims he was always a proponent of the "path to citizenship?"

The GOP never were "anti-immigration ".

Add that to the long list of lies from the Left.

* And I can already hear the cries of indignation and gasps of shock at me saying that. But it's true. The Left puts out a completely false narrative, about the Right ( war on women, anti-immigration, against all govt,etc... ) and then carries on their propaganda, based on lies.

Hello,

I may be wrong, but I think prominent party supporters and party representative positions on abortion, contraception, and rape were even more damaging than their immigration stance.

It turns out a lot of people in this country are women, and some of them vote. Of those, a few vote in their own interests.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Quote:

The lesson, some in the party say, is never again should a party that claims to live by a bottom-up grass-roots conservative base let itself be smothered by a top-down leadership.

The internal bloodletting likely will force the Republican National Committee to move its January meeting to elect the party chairman far away from Washington and its myriad consultants and interest-group pressures.

That part bothers me; if they move away from Washington politics, they will be ruled I'm guessing by their least sensible factions, which will make things even worse. I don't know how all this stuff came about, but it's a sad day to watch it happening--and will be even sadder if it keeps going this way.
Quote:

I believe now the best course of action is outright revolt.... Well, to each his own. Some may choose to push secession in their state legislatures. Others may choose to leave the U.S. for good (Costa Rica, Switzerland, Italy, Argentina, Hong Kong, Israel). Still others may want to personally separate themselves from the United States here in North America while still living under communist rule' the Glenn Beck, grab your guns, food storage, build bunkers, survivalist route. I heartily endorse all these efforts.

Starting early this morning, I am going to un-friend every single individual on Facebook who voted for Obama, or I even suspect may have Democrat leanings. I will do the same in person. All family and friends, even close family and friends, who I know to be Democrats are hereby dead to me. I vow never to speak to them again for the rest of my life, or have any communications with them. They are in short, the enemies of liberty. They deserve nothing less than hatred and utter contempt.

Do you work for someone who voted for Obama? Quit your job. Co-workers who voted for Obama. Simply don't talk to them in the workplace, unless your boss instructs you too for work-related only purposes. Have clients who voted Democrat? Call them up this morning and tell them to take their business elsewhere.

That is one piece of work! Although, how I wish Rap would feel the same; reading his stuff after a couple of days away kind of reminded me how out-there he really is. He's as scary as those folks who want to go further right; they didn't get a THING out of what happened, out of how the American people rejected their agenda, and will only do further damage to their party, which is sad. Going to try and work to ignore him from now on, just chalk him up to one of those who can't grasp reality even slightly and are making the GOP even more irrelevant than ever.

I heard about the "go further right" thing; from what I heard, it's a fairly normal reaction to this kind of political loss, and the Dems have done it too. Doesn't make a lot of sense unless maybe you view it through those steps of loss--isn't denial one of the steps? If so, "bargaining" follows somewhere, then "acceptance", so maybe they have to go through these steps to regain some sense of perspective...one can only hope?

Wow, Anthony, I missed those quotes! Can you tell me where they are, please? Unless it's within the last couple of days, I must have missed the threads where they were. Thank you, tho'; won't forget them, want to save them to remind me where I stand with some!

I also heard pundits saying that if they DO choose this course over time, they are risking becoming even more irrelevant as a party, and perhaps another party will start to take their place. They were suggesting maybe the libertarians, but from what I'm reading here and in those articles, they wouldn't be much of an improvement.

Basically: Damn! As always, I want at least ONE viable second party (unlike, apparently, some like Rap and those in the articles linked). Sad day.

Tit for tat got us where we are today. If we want to be grownups, we need to resist the ugliness. If we each did, this would be a better reflection on Firefly and a more welcome place. I will try.

Hello Niki,

I can source the Raptor quote easily, since he constantly denies having said any such thing. It forced me to look up the thread often. I even had to re-discover the thread on the new site, because the old links I had stopped working when things switched over.

http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?bid=18&tid=51196

The other two (Six and Wulf) would require quite a bit of research. If anyone happens to have any reference or links handy, I'd appreciate making them available to Niki (and myself, in case anyone asks again in the future.)

Meanwhile, you certainly need not take my word for it that these things were said, since I cannot immediately source them. I can tell you that these last two statements disturbed me greatly. Only Kaneman was more vile in my recollection, with a promise of rape during your trip to the gulf coast in the wake of the disaster there. But I no longer have that link, either. He is, thankfully, gone from here.

Hello Niki,

Getting closer on the Wulf thing. I found a thread where you yourself quoted his sentiments.

Quote:

"Actually, Niki. You, and yours, are a dying breed. Feel that? Its age creeping up on you. Hurts a little more getting up in the morning, doesn't it? Thank GOD, you and your kind are finally starting to die off. Its just a matter of time. "Getting old, but still a hippie at heart..."

And considering that you and your kind are so spoiled and selfish that you couldn't even conceive of having children (THANK GOD), your philosophy is finally fucking dying.

Its up to those of us who suffered through your generations assclownery to rule the world. And many of us, have figured out that your life-style, belief-system, idiocy were false.

You die, your sick beliefs die with you. And the world is better for it.

Hurry up already.

As for my daughter. Watch your mouth you stupid fucking bitch.

Hello,

I will save these links so that everyone can always check the source context at their leisure.

This was originally just a note to myself, which I blacked out to avoid causing distress, but Raptor insisted on making it visible to the casual public observer.

Yeah, Ron Paul didn't start the TEA party. As it was truly grass roots, it's origins spout from many sources, not just one.

I didn't say Paul started it, dipshit - I said his supporters - which IS grass roots. Try reading, dumbfuck.
