HERO

I want to thank the folks who introduced the 2013 Gun Ban today. After reviewing the legislation I am pleased to report that only criminals and law enforcement will be able to purchase assault weapons.

Like most legislation the real question is 'how does this affect me?'

As a Prosecutor in Ohio I am considered law enforcement. This morning our guys got back from the big Vegas gun show (the one for cops, not the public one) and I'm happy to report that my shiny new SigM400 Enhanced will be delivered in a couple weeks.

Best of all I paid $960 for it leaving me plenty of money for the accessories.

At a local gunshow last weekend the same gun was selling for $3,000.

So good luck with your ban...I'll be ok.

...and which legislation is that?

Ditto. I'm unaware of any gun ban, and seriously doubt one will ever be passed. So I guess this is our non-lawyer, non-hero's cutsie way of making a statement.

To which I say:

Tit for tat got us where we are today. If we want to be grownups, we need to resist the ugliness. If we each did, this would be a better reflection on Firefly and a more welcome place. I will try.

Democratic lawmakers were joined by mayors, law enforcement officials and gun violence victims Thursday to introduce the first significant piece of gun control legislation to be put to Congress since the massacre in Newtown, Conn., that left 20 children and six adults dead at an elementary school: The "Assault Weapons Ban of 2013," which would ban many so-called assault weapons as well as high-capacity ammunition magazines.

I bought some really cool KEEN boots, for half off this week.

I know it has nothing to do w/ guns, but it was still a pretty good deal.

Felt the need to share the news.

Ah, so nothing's been PASSED--or ever will be. I wonder if anyone's ever counted how many harmless but stupid bills have been introduced and gone nowhere, and our very own non-lawyer pretends it WILL be? All that does is reflect his own ignorance of law and legislature, nothing more.

Tit for tat got us where we are today. If we want to be grownups, we need to resist the ugliness. If we each did, this would be a better reflection on Firefly and a more welcome place. I will try.

Just more whiney grandstanding from the right.

HERO will never be "OK". Among other things, he suffers from hallucinations. Just look at his post.

JONGSSTRAW

I think the Feinstein bill will be voted on in the Senate after it gets watered down a bit. Then it might pass. But in the House, not so much. The States are going to have to take the lead on restricting certain types of weapons. New York just did it, and probably 20 other states can do it as well within a few weeks.
