Quote:But the New America data shows that domestic terrorists motivated by non-jihadist ideologies now pose a similar or even greater threat than those who admire al Qaeda. We define non-jihadist terrorists to be those who carry out or aspire to carry out acts of politically motivated violence, and who fall into the following categories: right-wing extremists who oppose the government, subscribe to a neo-Nazi ideology, or oppose homosexuality or abortion; left-wing extremists; violent animal rights activists; and violent environmental activists. Over the past several years, acts or plots of non-jihadist terrorism have derived almost entirely from right-wing extremists like the soldiers' militia in Georgia and the anti-government group in Louisiana. Of the 54 non-jihadist terrorists indicted between 2010 and 2012, 47 were right-wing extremists. Since 9/11, at least 29 people living in the United States have been killed by right-wing extremists, while 17 have been killed by jihadist extremists, the majority of whom died in one incident: the 2009 massacre at Fort Hood, Texas.

That's fiction, little boy, not real. But you couldn't rush in to prove predictions about you correct fast enough. Adorable.

Quote: But I could see some militia group, or some individual "right wing wingnut", influenced by Donald Trump, assassinating President Obama, believing that he's not really a "legitimate " president. Or offing Hillary, or some other left winger or Democrat.

Quote:Originally posted by DREAMTROVE: Also, I might as well add I think Wulfie has a point. The ideology of the mass killers is something that troubles me. In particular, I find it worrisome how many of them are ultra-zionist. I worry that some of our more vocal factions has been inciting people down a violent and counterproductive line of thinking.

Quote: While I agree that people should be allowed to say what they want, I think it's unintelligent to not pay attention to the gathering of naive recruits by religious extremists to send them out to do violence onto the overall population.
Quote: Ergo, you can make the identical argument you just made about any suicide bomber in the muslim world, and the positions are probably analogous to our spree shooters. That doesn't mean society has no responsibility to the targeted civilian populations.

Quote:Originally posted by DREAMTROVE: I just want to pop in to slay the term "right wing violence." The liberal media invented this term as a way to identify conservatives with Nazis, something they had no legitimate way of doing. I've met a number of white supremacists in my day, and none of them were ideologically conservative, nor did any vote republican. They did all have very strong political views other than their bigotry, but those views fit a very firm socialist ideology. They thought Nazi Germany was just great, all around, because they believed in the socialist state, controlled collectivism and govt. control of independent citizens and corporations. These guys aren't just "racists" they have a solid political agenda which is anything but right-wing. I still consider myself solidly in the political middle, but I think it's disingenuous to push a radical group which ostensibly falls under "enemies" into a group with your political opponents just to demonize the latter.

Oh, are you bummed that I wasn't REALLY driving in my car while I was posting my reply ? Does it help to know that I actually was IN my car, just that it was parked at the time ? Hell, what if I had said I was driving drunk, while posting via my iPhone, while speeding through a school zone ?

Quote: What I was saying was disingenuous was to conflate nazis with the right wing, thus alienating the right wing. And I did it in the other thread, conflating them with feminists, and if you'd said that, you would have had a point.

You said you were texting from your phone while driving, then tried to backtrack on the driving part. So were you driving while texting, or not? Because you've said you were and you weren't. I know you don't think it's a lie if you believe it (Castanza logic), but do you honestly believe you both were and weren't texting while driving?

Quote: He doesn't comprehend that Trump's obsession with Obama's birth certificate is something many white-supremacist crazies believe and which might encourage one crazy enough to try to commit assassination to rationalize that he wasn't assassinating a "legitimate" President? He thinks all white supremacists are inbred banjo players? Where did he ever get that idea, does he know nothing about white supremacists? Wow, Rap is even more off his game today than usual [/quote

Wrong again. if you google 'feminism' and 'male circumcision' you will see a host of articles and blogs which give indication that many, many feminists are against male circumcision. Myself included, thank you very much.
Quote:Steinem wrote the definitive article on female genital mutilation that brought the practice into the American public's consciousness. The article reports on the "75 million women suffering with the results of genital mutilation." According to Steinem, "The real reasons for genital mutilation can only be understood in the context of the patriarchy: men must control women's bodies as the means of production, and thus repress the independent power of women's sexuality." Steinem's article contains the basic arguments that would be developed by philosopher Martha Nussbaum. On male circumcision, she commented, "These patriarchal controls limit men’s sexuality too... That’s why men are asked symbolically to submit the sexual part of themselves and their sons to patriarchal authority, which seems to be the origin of male circumcision, a practice that, even as advocates admit, is medically unnecessary 90% of the time. Speaking for myself, I stand with many brothers in eliminating that practice too."
