Jim Carrey's video mocking the late actor and National Rifle Association President Charlton Heston didn't please some conservatives - not that Carrey himself minds.

The video, a spoof version of the old comedy show "Hee Haw," featured Carrey playing both Heston and the leader of a country-western group, mocking Heston's declaration that gun control advocates would have to pry his firearms "from my cold, dead hands"

Conservative pundits claimed Carrey was inappropriately denigrating Heston, who died in 2008. Taking particular aim at, presumably, Fox News - the spelling below is his - Carrey responded to the critics Friday.

"In my opinion Fux News is a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views; a media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue," Carrey wrote in a statement.

"I sincerely believe that in time, good people will lose patience with the petty and poisonous behavior of these bullies and Fux News will be remembered as nothing more than a giant culture fart that no amount of Garlique could cure," he continued.

Heston, who died in 2008, rose to fame as an actor in movies like "The Ten Commandments" and "Ben-Hur." Later in life, however, he turned his attention to political advocacy, eventually becoming the president of the National Rifle Association from 1998-2003.

Isn’t that epic? In the war between Hollywood and Fox News, yet another battle has been won by the left coast. Fox News involved themselves in a fight it couldn’t possibly win. One should never criticize a comedian and hope to get away with it unscathed. But Jim Carrey did more than just hit back; he humiliated Fox News in a way no other media network has ever experienced. I’m sure this statement will have Fox throwing hissy fits for days and that, my friends, is Oscar-worthy.

These thugs, though menacing, are a minority but they will have their way if good people don't step forward now and make a difference. Every American has the right to speak their mind. Every American has the right to bear arms. But it is up to every American to draw the line when it comes to the type of guns that are considered a reasonable means of self-defense.

No one is allowed to own a bazooka. In a movie theater an assault rifle with a 100-round drum magazine can cause just as much damage.

So don't just sit there and do nothing. Contact your representatives and let them know that their jobs depend upon change. It won't always be someone else's kids in the line of fire.

The time is now. LET YOUR HEART BE HEARD.
