How'd you arrive at that conclusion based on the article?

"Rich Manhattan Moms" = "libs"?

On an only vaguely related note, I don't think I'd torture a child with anything that required an average wait of 2.5 hours. How is that worth it? Do they really stand in line that long for a ride? Is this supposed to be fun? Or do they get tokens and return at a specified time? How does it work?

Going to the park and spinning your kid in a circle until it's dizzy seems like time better spent. And more cheaply. And with a better workout.

Yes, it's a shameless thing to do, isn't it? Those rich people... (most of whom are Republican)... they think they can get away with anything, don't they?

I dunno... sounds like a win / win to me.

Folks get paid to pretend they're govt workers ( standing around and doing absolutely nothing ) while kiddies can go around the park and spend more of mommie's money.

Who is the 'victim' here ?

Interesting tidbit here.

Well, at least I'm posting some fact, rather than the unsupported supposition that most of the 'Manhattan moms' are Republicans. Unless you have some actual proof of this, that is.

The problem, Rap, is that it isn't right. Its wrong.

So some family scrimps and saves to go to Disney World... just to have some pieces of shit cut them in line like this?

Fuck that.

Not to mention using these crips like this, which is morally reprehensible.

Ignoring his verbiage tho' I'm glad he finds it morally reprehensible), Wulf makes the pertinent point (don't fall over):
Quote:

This one came back to me as I was falling asleep the other night. Mostly because it's further proof of my theory that Rap is here for no other reason than to be a contrarian.

HIS reply was
Quote:

Folks get paid to pretend they're govt workers ( standing around and doing absolutely nothing ) while kiddies can go around the park and spend more of mommie's money.

Again leaving aside the verbiage about the disabled, can anyone imagine Rap actually believing this?

It costs a lot to take even one kid to Disney; so you've spent your hard-earned money to take a vacation there. Your standing in a long line with your kid to get on a ride. After an hour or so of standing in line, you're still quite some distance from the front, and you see a woman get out of a car with her child (door held by her driver, no doubt), driver unloads wheelchair and plunks disabled person in it, the three of them walk straight to the head of the line and go in. Assuming you know that disabled person was HIRED to do just that, can anyone here see Rap calmly smiling and not minding whatsoever? Would anyone here feel that way?

Of course not. It's patently asinine. So why would Rap have no problem with it? He would, as we all know perfectly well. Ergo my point; he had to think up something (and even then didn't come up with anything worthwhile) in order to find SOME kind of crack he could make which would be a put-down on the disabled and cover the ass of the rich for doing something nobody else would call anything but disreputable. (There's also the fact he didn't think about: The person doing this "guiding" is probably ON Disability, so she's probably double-dipping under the counter. Bet he loves THAT idea!)

As to who these "moms" are, it's pretty obvious from their own mouths:
Quote:

“It’s insider knowledge that very few have and share carefully,” Martin told the Post. “So when you’re doing it, you’re affirming that you are one of the privileged insiders who has and shares this information.”

“My daughter waited one minute to get on ‘It’s a Small World’ — the other kids had to wait 2 1/2 hours,” one unnamed mom bragged to the Post. “You can’t go to Disney without a tour concierge...This is how the 1 percent does Disney.” http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/disney-world-scheme--entitled-familie

Rap, of course, knew that full well.

What's sad about this is that this group, Dream Tours Florida, is mostly in the business of putting together tours for the disabled and their families. By giving in to this idiocy, they have diminished themselves. Several articles say they're no longer offering Also, Disney is looking into this, and it may well end up making it more difficult for the REAL disabled to be able to enjoy places like Disney. Dream Tours Florida is no longer offering "VIP Tours", stating under their link to them:
Quote:

Due to inaccurate press, libel, and harassment, Dream Tours is not offering VIP tours at this time. Our focus has primarily always been providing magical vacations for adults with special needs and helping their dreams to come true. http://www.dreamtoursflorida.com/vip-tours/]

Which is interesting. They do provide tour guides, regular people to go with the disabled and families of the disabled, so what WAS a "VIP Tour" previously, I wonder? All I can find is
Quote:

Dream Tours Florida advertised its VIP package as, "Your guide will provide significantly reduced wait times through the parks and special entrance to fast pass lines." http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/207879601.html]

As an aside, this company had previously claimed tax-exempt status as a charity, and still DOES on its website, despite
Quote:

A report last night by WTKR, channel 13 in North Carolina and Virginia, found that the IRS revoked the Dream Tours Florida's tax-exempt status because the charity failed to file tax records or financial reports for the past three years. The report states Dream Tours' website still claims it's tax-exempt. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/207879601.html]

Bet Rap loves THAT!

Families with real disabled children are, of course, seething. One family which has visited Disney twice with their actual, dying child
Quote:

“It is actually. It’s great memories. It’s something we’ll never forget and hopefully can go again while Ainsley is still with us, absolutely,” says Lori.

So Ainsley’s family was stunned to read a New York Post article saying rich parents in New York were wrongly taking advantage of Disney generosity. “Boiling inside at the idea of people attempting to take a beautiful thing and potentially put it into jeopardy,” says Ainsley’s father. http://wtkr.com/2013/05/16/local-families-furious-over-exploitation-of
-disney-disability-treatment/

It's disgusting, pure and simple, but that has no weight where some are concerned; for them it's only important to cover the asses of the rich and find some way to snark at the left.

What's sadly amusing is that these rich people already DO have special accommodations and COULD easily afford the ACTUAL "VIP" passes Disney sells. Disney offers a VIP guide and fast passes for $310 to $380 per hour. But the “black-market Disney guides” run $130 an hour. So they're not only abusing special accommodations for the disabled, they're doing it to get in faster ON THE CHEAP!

I'm sure Rap will consider that just good business sense...

On a personal note, I AM disabled. Not totally, but I can't stand for more than a couple of minutes, even with my cane, and can't walk very far without it at all. I avoid lines, use shopping carts for even one item so I can lean on them at the cashier's counter, got my sulky because I can no longer hike my dogs, and walk everywhere with a cane. I've been in lines a couple of times since becoming this way, going to see Jim's grand-daughter at plays she's been in. I always end up either just plunking down and sitting on the cement or having Jim stand in line while I sit on the curb or the hood of a car nearby (his back is bad, too, we swap off and are both in pain by the time we get to seats). It sickens me to think of someone who knows how this feels actually RENTING themselves out so people who are perfectly capable of standing in line can avoid doing so. But that's just my personal resentment.

New articles I'm finding just rehash the old stuff, but with titles like "Inside the Disney Line Skipping..." and then the same old story. But I found a few tidbits:
Quote:

Social researcher Wednesday Martin "caught wind of the underground network" while working on a book about practices among New York City's Park Avenue elite, the Post reported.
.....
The theme park offers VIP tours and FastPass service allowing people to avoid long lines.

Martin said the wealthy people she spoke with found that hiring a disabled guide can cost less and allow people to skip straight to the front of lines.

Apparently some on Twitter are like Rap, and don't think too hard before they respond:
Quote:

"At least they are sharing the wealth and providing the less fortunate with over $1000 a day to go to Disney World," one of the first comments on this CNN.com story said, from user "blindliberal."

And jessied44 wrote, "$1040 for a day spent having fun -- not a bad job. Pretending they are part of the family isn't a good example for the children, but providing work for someone who is disabled isn't a bad thing to do."

What they don't get is the following:

First of all, it's only one woman (from what I can get) who's doing this, and she's already "assistant director" of Dream Tours, with her boyfriend running the company. She already has a job. She's either pulling down a salary as assistant director, or on Disability, or BOTH. She's not one of the "less fortunate" and it ain't "sharing the wealth", unless you want to count them not paying "full price" for an official Disney pass as sharing the wealth with this company rather than with Disney.

Secondly, it's not "a day spent having fun", idiots; it's her JOB...are any of them really stupid enough to imagine she goes on these rides, over and over, again and again, for "fun"??? Lucrative, you betcha, but not "fun", after doing it enough times...

Ignorance is bliss, as we already know...

Game's probably up, for now anyway (until they find another way):
Quote:

“It is unacceptable to abuse accommodations that were designed for guests with disabilities,” Disney spokesman Bryan Malenius told CNN Wednesday. “We are thoroughly reviewing the situation and will take appropriate steps to deter this type of activity.”
