Byte, you wouldn't even BE on the list of top ten. Don't know how you get the impression you're so "nasty", but you don't even come CLOSE. There would be Kane, Six and Wulf ahead of ANYONE, for past and ongoing behavior, then we'd have to argue about who on which side would come next, and believe me, you would be left in the dust, simple as that. I guess the closest I could come (aside from a blatant "F you") is calling you "snarky" at times and hypersensitive at others. But nasty? Hah!

Perhaps it's the title of this thread. For me, it's about NASTINESS, not specific insults. Rap does his very best to be as aggressively negative to and about specific people, as do others on both sides. It's the INTENT, not dissecting what "might be" an insult and/or whether it's "behavior" that's being insulted, etc., etc. If there's an unintended insult received, or a misunderstanding, that's one thing. But everyone here knows precisely what they're doing, and playing some sort of game about the subtleties does no more than let them claim they weren't "insulting" someone, yet be quite nasty and bear no responsibility.

The nastiness does make for a negative board environment, and so is just as relevant as insults. The best measure of this might be who is the least pleasant to talk to or be around.

Oh damn, Six. Okay, yeah, Six beat me once in a troll-off. Plus he says really dirty stuff and it skeeves me out. The champion title at this point is basically a competition between the explicit sex talk guy and the rabid negativity wtf girl chained up in the corner gnawing on her leg, and I concede the explicit sex talk guy PROBABLY has the advantage.

I'll never figure out WHY it's important to you to believe you are even among the nastiest here, Byte, it just leaves me shaking my head. Humans don't do things unless it somehow benefits them, makes them feel good or something, so WHY you should get something out of claiming to be some kind of monster is totally beyond me. It just isn't so, period, and I'm sorry if that's disappointing to you, but I think you can ask anyone on this forum and not a SINGLE person here will find you as unpleasant, snarky, nasty, or insulting as any number of others. That's just a fact.

...Because it's obvious? Because I'm a fountain of doom and gloom and worst case scenarios and dark conspiracy theories at the best of times, and when my temper gets up I turn into a loud yelly asshole who bristles and snaps at everyone around me and everything everyone says to me?

If we're measuring nastiness by the negativity people introduce to the board, then frankly the vast majority of what I contribute to the board is negativity.

Anyway. I don't fully understand HOW there could be disagreement about this, but since there is, we might find more value in discussing those I consider my competition and the runner-ups.

I didn't put up the thread to ensure people were nice, but to do a kind of tally on crappy behaviour. I probably should have just called it the crappy behaviour thread and avoided all the discussion around what constitutes an insult.

The way I see it, everyone chooses what they post, whether they are polite or rude or snarky or sneaky. If you feel you are justified in any of that, more power to you, but it doesn't diminish the fact that you are polite or rude or snarky or sneaky because you feel someone else deserves it.

It's seriously not my intention. I responded to Niki's discussion about whether all snark is insult, and I used a personal example to explain why I didn't think that was accurate.

I am, of course, aware that my use of personal anecdotes makes you all think I'm an attention whore, but what am I supposed to do? What else do I have to offer on a discussion about interpersonal interactions?

It gets worse because whenever I post personal opinions, flavoured with my usual doom and gloom, people try to tell me that I'm a good person and reassure me. And then it's MY fault the thread derails.

But then I'm STILL an attention whore for dismissing their reassurances and trying to keep the thread on topic.

So what exactly am I supposed to do? I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. My best option is for people to ignore me and encourage them to ignore me through bad behaviour. So I might as well EMBRACE being a pariah.

And, for the record, on threads of global impact, In general I usually DON'T talk about myself or personal issues or specifics unless someone else MAKES it personal. I don't talk about my tragedies looking for sympathy, or why I'm panicking about something/everything, or whatever stupid reason I might have at the moment for being an emotional wreck. There's more than enough darkness going on in the world and the big events without me bringing my frivolous shit into it. But when you all ask who is the nastiest person on the board, or what defines someone as a sociopath, what, am I not allowed to express my opinion on that while the rest of you are?

Horse Puckey. I have important insights on this particular matter, and lo, it appears that none of you even RANK on the jerk meter compared to me, or why else would you need to post that response to me?

So hey, I have posted several distinctions in defense of my interests here, and in context I think they provide important conclusions for your thread.

In short, I win. :P

'Libtards' it seems to me is a general reference to stupid liberals; I haven't heard him call it anyone specifically.

Calling Mal4 a feminazi was pretty unprovoked if I remember. I figured he'd been heavily stoked by Rush Limbaugh on the subject, or something.

In my defense I was coming back from a two month hiatus from the board, and was "out of practice" so to speak in regards to these discussions about real world events. Also the conditions around here caught my attention well before the stories about the NSA, EU, or Africa broke, and for about a month there I was focused on damage control and repairs.

Things have quieted down again, mostly, and so I've been able to pay attention to other issues now. Moreover, all the efforts of the board members should be celebrated - the insults are still there, but I've seen a lot of discussion recently as well.

It is not possible that we'll always be able to look beyond personal issues and see the bigger picture, but we can be reminded that it exists. I don't take as dim a view as you do. I think that our disorganization might actually be to our benefit. Though for a while there it WAS getting to be a little much.

Confusion is less so much an insult, but rather more of a constant and sometimes terminal state of being.

Also, if we're listing instances of confusion and self-insults (the later of which I'm not sure this counts as), then I win again. I *double* win.

Well, I ran it by the 'can you switch object' test. If I posted 'You're confused' it could be a mistaken impression, an accurate observation, or an insult, but the insult minders would count it as an insult. Simply switching the object doesn't change the category. So if posting 'you're confused' counts as an insult, posting 'I'm confused' counts in the same way - imo.

So, uhm, is this a contest to see who wins the prize for posting the most insults?

Hmm... That also means that whenever someone says that someone else "misunderstands" in the course of a mostly civil conversation, that's also an insult because it suggests an inability to understand/overreaction/lying.

Perhaps I'll let your point stand after all. Since it's an argument I've used myself. Objection withdrawn.

I'll take your word for it. It's one of the threads I won't even bother to read, the title makes it obvious where it will go.

However, since you posted it, I read the first few posts. Having done so, I maintain once again that Jong has made the conscious choice to respond so over the top in his ugliness that he is approaching Kane status, and I think it's totally disgusting.

Jong: Not surprising that one of the most delusional and twisted FFF leftist loons would spew forth

Kiki: Not surprising that for a tool from the right, simply posting facts would count as a 'defense' of a historical person I didn't even mention.

Jong: Crazy bitch is too stupid to even know what the thread is all about. It's right at the top, but a gutless and dishonest ideologue parrot like you pretends not to see. Or perhaps your straight jacket limits your mobility a bit. How sad.

Kiki: You lost track of what the thread was about when you posted this: "a racist who believes in killing black babies". You removed it from the historic into the present, and made your 'point' highly inaccurate. Hence the present facts. You were too stupid to avoid going there. But since you brought it up, I replied.

Jong: I agree with you that you're a stupid racist. You're also crazy.

Jong: Yes, you're lame and crazy and really stupid. Rather than deal with the thread subject, you just carry on like an unwanted hemmorrhoid. Fuck off.

You're absolutely right, KPO, that entire thread was an insult to pretty much everyone here, as well as being there for one purpose only, a failed purpose: to attempt to equate an organization of today with its founder, who was someone I don't think anyone here would defend.

But what everyone else wrote (including Kiki) pales in comparison to what Jong wrote. He HAS achieved Kane status, in my opinion.
