This is like a disturbing social experiment. What happens when you drop 50 to 400 people to live primitively on a tropical island in the pacific for two hundred years? Does the situation comment on the original personalities of the people who arrived there, or something fundamental about human nature?

There are so many things that could be noticed and commented on about this story, and things that could be argued one way or another, I think I'll let you guys just read it and choose what you want to comment on. I honestly am so flabbergasted I don't really know what to think or say about this.

Warning: when I say disturbing, I mean disturbing on the level of child abuse. If you're sensitive to these issues or you have been a victim, you may want to skip this.

These same British fuckkers refuse t oarrest Jimmy Savile and his royal gang of pedo buttfuikkers and Satanic serial killers.

The Britis Empire needs its royal heads chopped off, just like the Puritans did for Oliver Cromwell.

Had not heard about this Savile person. It's strange how power-fame-money go to people's heads and they get into the really weird stuff.

I'm not sure this has much to do with the British ignoring anything. This story made news in my neck of the wood, when this was topical. Traditionally this Island has had virtually nothing to do with Britain, and until the complaints surfaced, really had its own way (or not) of dealing with digression. One of the issues seems to be that this remote island is really too small to sustain a population that can grow large enough not to have massive imbreeding.

Norfolk Island, where a lot of Bounty descendants moved to, is a wealthy, properous island, with little indication of the dysfunction on Pitcairn.

A fascinating history, and perhaps a salutory lesson about the need for diversity in population and dare I say it, a fair system of justice.

After reading about the disaster caused by this British intervention, I now understand why there was a mutiny on the Bounty.

After hearing about Norfolk Island and the connection here, I have my doubts that they're any less dysfunctional, and suspect they probably just hide it better. If this was an artifact of the mixed cultures involved in the heritage plus a sort of degeneration of civilization norms over time, Norfolk is only twice as populated as Pitcairn when 400 people lived there, and it's composed of a lot of the same families. I don't know why it WOULDN'T be the same.

Maybe now that the islands have tv and broadcasts, young boys and girls will find something else to do besides go hormone crazy. Or maybe the other islanders will learn a lesson from this.
