Mitch McConnell is in an ugly spot. On the right is fire-breathing Tea Party businessman Matt Bevin, who's apparently running for Mitch's Senate seat on a platform of "Well I would have shut down the government by now." On the left, Alison Lundergan Grimes is waxing the turtle and happily taking over as the pragmatic, dynamic young centrist.

And Mitch? Well, this turtle is stuck in the middle of the highway.

McConnell admitted there are parts of the ACA he supports.

"There are a handful of things in the 2,700-page bill that probably are okay," McConnell said. "But that doesn't warrant a 2,700-page takeover of all American healthcare." http://zandarvts.blogspot.com/2013/08/turtling-up-on-obamacare.html]

Bevin, of course, is having a field day:

Bevin Web Video Challenges McConnell To Defund Obamacare

Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Matt Bevin challenged Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to act on his stated support for ending Obamacare in a web video released Wednesday.

"You hear a lot of empty rhetoric from Mitch McConnell about ending Obamacare," Bevin said in a clip of his recent speech at Kentucky's annual Fancy Farm picnic. "Stop talking about yanking it out root and branch, and start voting in the U.S. Senate to kill it by defunding it."

McConnell said Tuesday that he supports bringing an end to the health care law, but that shutting down the government will not be able to stop the law's implementation. http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/bevin-web-video-challenges

Wait 'till Bevin gets a chance to remark on McConnell's "handful of things"...
