News Item: You guys are going to love this!

Bill O'Reilly, that bastion for equality and fairness over at Fox News, was spewing his usual venom at the Democratic Party and organizers of the 50th Anniversary Celebration on the March on Washington and Dr. King's I Have A Dream speech, because, as he stated, the democrats did not want to include them.

Turns out they were invited and all declined to attend the festivities. The Bushes, "Boner," Cantor and McConnell and others were invited to participate.
And it seems that he recanted on his statements and apologized for his "mistake."

I'm sorry, but that is downright unprofessional and misleading. It is poor journalism tinged yellow from him pissing all over the facts. It shows his total disregard for proper and factual news reporting, and is downright lazy.
How many times has he back-pedaled in these last few years after "reporting" on a story. I lost count.

Again, to quote our Waascally Wabbit: What a Maroon!

How many black conservatives were invited?

Condi Rice?

Justice Thomas ?

Senator Scott?

Dr Ben Carson?

Thomas Sowell?

Charles Payne?

Mia Love?

Herman Caine?

Allen West ( born in ATL, same as Dr. King )

Which is interesting, because Clarence Thomas ( Savannah ) and Condi Rice ( Birmingham ) are also from the Deep South, yet were excluded .

This was less a tribute to Dr King & more a DNC public rally.

What were conservatives gonna say?

"It's been 50 years since our greatest opponent made his greatest speech, almost 50 years since we had him killed, our agenda of turning back everything he stood for is carrying on, you've got nothing to complain about, shut up and go back to picking the cotton. "

"We" killed mlk jr?

Total BS.

A commie killed JFK , yet the Left still loves socialism.
A nut case shot Reagan , trying to impress Jodie Fister ( really barking up the wrong tree )

Lies such as conservatives killed mlk jr are as baseless as the " Bush blew up the levees on NOLA " crap.

The Left completely dishonored Rev King.

Wait, let me get my invitation list out, I'll check.
I'm pretty sure that, in all fairness, those folks were invited. I'm just as curious as you are Rap my man, so I will look into it. Why? you might ask, I don't owe anyone an explanation, but I do believe in "balanced" reporting - ok, who am I kidding. I want to rub your nose in it and say neener, neener, neener!

I'm going to take a wild guess that you wanted conservatives to appear and celebrate the progress made in our country via the democratic and constitutional process. I would have been thrilled to see that happen and to see the reaction by the lovely folks over at Fox News.

I actually got through that..............I rock!

So fucking ballsy NOBC, love it.

It's 2 things folks:

1) They did not want to appear hypocritical - damn that was hard to say.
2) They don't want to appear anywhere the president is, it's part of the whole nullification express the right is so proud of.

I mean, some pretty prominent republicans and conservatives were invited, despite what O'Reilly, Rush and Rap think, so draw your own conclusions. Not you Rap!

Yes, Sig: "nevermind." Obviously there's this immediate "what can I say? What can I bring up that's negative? Hmmm, hmmm...oh, maybe THIS!", which has nothing to do with any issue at hand. Nothing new there.

Shiny: "that is downright unprofessional and misleading. It is poor journalism tinged yellow from him pissing all over the facts. It shows his total disregard for proper and factual news reporting, and is downright lazy." Oh, f'r'heaven's sake, it's RUSH! Anything about "modus operandi" come to mind? How do "Limbaugh" and "journalism" get into the same sentence???

Well, it turns out the stories about Scott not being invited were false:
Quote:

Roll Call Confirms Senator Tim Scott WAS invited to the MLK 50th Anniverary March

The Senate's only black lawmaker wasn't invited to speak at Wednesday's 50th anniversary March on Washington, because Tim Scott's office declined an invitation to attend the ceremony, according to a source connected to the event.

"Much of the speaking program was created based on those who were able to confirm availability to attend the event, and thus were able to speak at the event," the source explained.

And based on an email exchange obtained by CQ Roll Call, the South Carolina Republican did receive an invitation to attend the festivities commemorating Martin Luther King Jr.'s delivery of the famous "I Have a Dream" speech.

The invitation, sent Aug. 8 from the Coalition for the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington, appears to have been a form letter to all members of Congress, with invitees listed as "Representative" rather than by name.

Within a day, Rachel Shelbourne, a staff assistant to Scott, had replied to the email with the following message:

"Thank you for extending to Senator Tim Scott the invitation to the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington on August 28th. Unfortunately, the Senator will be in South Carolina during this time, so he will be unable to attend the event."

There were no Republicans on hand to speak at the event, which took place Wednesday at the Lincoln Memorial. Prominent civil rights activist Julian Bond said that organizers "asked a long list of Republicans to come, and to a man and woman they said ‘no.'" http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/roll-call-confirms-senator-tim-s
cott-was-invited-to-the-mlk-50th-anniverary-march/question-3900687/?link=ibaf&q=Did+any+Republicans+attend+MLK
]

In other words, ALL representatives, black and white, left and right, were invited; not a single Republican chose to attend. Given they couldn't be bothered showing up, why would anyone expect any others to?
Quote:

Here’s a run-down of the top Republicans who were invited to the March on Washington anniversary event, and why they reportedly decided not to show.

•Former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush: It was notable that the two former presidents, Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, who spoke at the event were both Democrats, with the Bushes nowhere to be seen. The 41st and 43rd president were both invited, but chose to decline because of health reasons

•House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH): The top Republican in the House declined his invitation because of a scheduling conflict. He is currently in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and had no public events scheduled for Wednesday.

•House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA): According to the Grand Forks Herald, Cantor spent Wednesday touring oilfields in North Dakota with Rep. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) and meeting with the North Dakota Petroleum Council lobbying group.

•Senator John McCain (R-AZ): Despite having voted against making Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day a federal holiday in 1983, the event committee did invite McCain to speak, but he declined due to unspecified “scheduling conflicts.”

The Rev. Leah D. Daughtry, who served as executive producer of the commemoration, told the Washington Post’s O’Keefe that her committee began inviting members of Congress to attend four or five weeks before the event.

“We had a very concerted effort, because this is not a political moment. This was about us coming together as a community, so we wanted to be sure that we had all political representations,” Daughtry said. “We attempted very vigorously to have someone from the GOP participate and unfortunately they were unable to find someone who was able to participate.” http://www.mediaite.com/online/every-top-republican-invited-to-mlk-ann
iversary-event-said-no/

Jeb Bush was also invited to speak in lieu of his brother; also declined.

The simple fact is that all the high-profile Republicans were invited to speak, every single one of them decline; O'Reilly jumped the gun, as usual, to bitch and moan, and was forced to admit the truth when it came out. To try and distract by bringing up OTHER names is absurd; the message was clear.
