Earlier this summer, Pat Robertson publicly lamented that Facebook lacked a "Vomit" button, which if it existed, he would gladly click to show his displeasure with pictures of gay couples displayed on the social media site.

Instances like that have become synonymous with America's religious right. In fact, when a Christian-identified organization isn't anti-gay, the story instantly becomes newsworthy.

Still, there are plenty of self-identifying Christians in the U.S., men and women who attend church services and devoutly read the Bible, who don't tow that party line at all—they're just not often given a voice.

But Dan Savage, creator of the "It Gets Better" campaign, launched a new venture just week, this time named, the Not All Like That Christians Project, or NALT.

Seemingly inspired by an episode of Savage's own TakePart TV show, American Savage, the project invites Christians who support LGBT rights to film themselves offering messages of hope to the gay and trans community.

The content of the videos drives home the tenets of pro-LGBT Christians, who firmly believe that there's nothing inherently sinful or anti-biblical about being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.

More than 40 videos have been uploaded already, with more expected soon. http://news.yahoo.com/why-christians-want-know-theyre-not-195732216.ht

How LOVELY, Real Christians speaking up. Wouldn't it be nice if they'd drown out all that ranting, railing, self-righteous hate we hear from supposed right-wing "christians" almost daily... Huzzah!

They do. You just don't hear it. Talk to some, instead of getting your opinions from your usual websites.

No, they most definitely DO NOT "drown out" the ranting and raving ones. Those who are ranting and raving are figures of AUTHORITY, from the church, in politics, and we hear them every day, from many media sources, not just the left, and you know it perfectly well.

I disagree.

You find the ranters because you actively look for them in the media, which focuses only on folks who make noise.

Do you ever look for the Christians who demonstrate their faith by quietly working with and supporting programs to feed and house the needy? Or the ones who support gay rights and women's rights - as they supported desegregation in the sixties? The ones who provide foster homes for kids of all races?

Pretty obviously not, since you think they're all racist, homophobic, patriarchal ranters and ravers.

Once again, I suggest you quit sourcing your opinions from the media, and actually get to know some of these folks. It shouldn't be hard to find them. If their words don't drown out the ravers' words, you might consider that their actions speak louder.

Pure bullshit. You, Rap, PN do exactly the same thing, and you'd pretty much curl up and die before posting anything about all those on the "left" out there doing good works, hypocrite. Obviously I don't think they're "all" anything; I decry the ones who profess their "christianity" yet behave in very unchristian fashion, just as I did that Buddhist. Those ARE the ones making the noise, nobody drowns them out and that's one reason I put up this post, to HIGHLIGHT some who are trying.

Niki, all I'm suggesting is that you talk to normal Christians - not the ones you see in the media, ranting about this or that. I'd bet that (for example) many of the folks who protested the possible attacks in Syria at Sen. Feinstein's home were Christians.

Listening to the Christian right ranters in the media is like listening to Ed Asner or Ted Nugent (just picking examples out of the air) on politics or war. They get air time because they're celebrities and noisy.
