House Republicans are drafting a resolution to impeach Attorney General Eric Holder and impeachment proceedings could begin in a matter of weeks, according to rookie Republican Rep. Ted Yoho of Florida.

"It will be before the end of the year," Yoho said at a town hall meeting in Chiefland, Fla Tuesday night, the Ocala Star Banner reported. "It will be before the end of the year. This will go to the speaker and the speaker will decide if it comes up or not."

Omar Raschid, spokesman for Yoho, confirmed with Roll Call that a resolution is being put together, but that it is not coming out of the Florida congressman's office. He would not say which member is taking the lead, but said Yoho will be involved in the effort.

House Speaker John Boehner's office would not comment on what the Ohio Republican knew about the resolution. Neither would the offices of other congressional members who are known to be Holder critics, Roll Call reported.

Frustration has grown with Holder over Operation Fast and Furious and the wiretapping of Associated Press phone calls by the Justice Department.

In June, the House voted 255-67 to hold the attorney general in contempt after Holder refused to give Fast and Furious documents to Republican Rep. Darrell Issa of California, who is chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform committee.

Holder has said the botched gun running program in which firearms purchased in America were found in Mexico was overseen by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. However, he refused to hand over Justice Department documents that were subpoenaed by Issa.

Issa said that the refusal to turn over documents is "clearly a cover-up."

According to Issa, the Justice Department is also withholding documents about who knew about the AP wiretapping operation.

Roll Call noted that while there is a long list of lawmakers who would like to see Holder removed from office, it may be harder to get lawmakers actually to support impeachment. It will take support from establishment Republican leaders such as Judiciary Chairman Robert Goodlatte of Virginia.

Not sure if Boehner will allow this to happen, but it's a nice thought.

Gotta find some other way to avoid doing anything productive, while still venting their hatred, right?

You forgot 'racist' hatred. You're slipping.

He should have been gone years ago, for Fast and Furious.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Heaven forbid our elected representatives should do anything about dealing with the problems in the COUNTRY; much more important they go after their political opponents, vote to defund Obamacare, legislate women's bodies...

They're well on their way to ensuring they beat their own record for "least productive Congress in history". House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has released the 2014 House calendar, which has that body working a total of 113 days in 2014.

At a time when congressional approval is at an all time low, the House is actually cutting the number of work days for the coming year. The number of work days on the House calendar for 2013 is 126. Members obviously found that to be too taxing, after working only 107 days in 2012. Since House members work for a salary rather than an hourly wage, their $174,000 annual pay remains the same whether they work one day or 365 days.

For 2014 House members will earn $1539.82 per work day.

Cantor brags in his letter that "Over the past three years, the legislative schedule has created certainty, increased efficiency and productivity", but that's bullshit. In 2013, the House has been neither efficient nor productive. From January 3 through October 30, there were 570 roll call votes. The vast majority of those votes were on procedural matters or amendments to bills. Only 15 bills have become law this year. Out of that number, six were designed to fix problems with existing bills, three were reauthorizations of laws, three were for disaster relief or other appropriations, and two were commemorative acts.

You mean, like using the IRS to target American citizens ?

Funny. You totally ignored the entire point of Holder being a complete douche.

Or using the Justice Dept. to wiretap AP and Fox reporters?

Or suing states over voter ID laws even after the US Supreme Court upheld the legality of it back in 2008?

I hope they do impeach the scummy bastard. Might as well make it a two-fer and impeach Obama at the same time.

Wow, this shows you lack of understanding. The Court struck down part of the Voter Right's act. They didn't up hold any voter ID laws.

Actually, you don't know what you're talking about. In 2008 The US Supreme Court ruled on Crawford v. Marion County Election Board and they decided that voter id law was legal. Has nothing to do with the recent Voter Right's Act decision.

The T Party people are bringing out that golden nugget. Can I ask a stupid question? What legislation have they introduced? Anyone?, anyone?

Isn't it ironic that they went to all the trouble of Voter ID laws and gerrymandering to get to Washington, only to sit on their hands and do nothing. Our tax dollars at work.................

What a country!!!

Anybody here want to put some money on whether or not this actually happens?

$20 says they don't even introduce their articles of impeachment before the end of the year. That's their timeline, according to Jongsstraw's article.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

There are a lot of things that Holder SHOULD be held accountable for... for example, not holding the NSA AND the CIA accountable for destroying our right to privacy. Unfortunately the impeachment will only touch on two of them, and one of them is irrelevant to just about anything. Same with with impeaching Obama... good idea, wrong reasons. For the record, I wanted Bush impeached too.

Impeachment is a funny process... for all the horrible things Clinton did, the GOP impeached him for lying to Congress about having sex with Lewinksy. That process only showed the entire nation the irrelevance of the GOP. Attempting to impeach Holder for Fast and Furious will have all the shoulder-shrugging impact of a Lewinsky impeachment. So be my guest. Or, attempt to do something relevant to the majority of people.
