Quote:BASHIR: "It’lll be like slavery. Given her well-established reputation as a world class idiot, it’s hardly surprising that she should choose to mention slavery in a way that is abominable to anyone who knows anything about its barbaric history. So here’s an example. One of the most comprehensive first-person accounts of slavery comes from the personal diary of a man called Thomas Thistlewood, who kept copious notes for 39 years. Thistlewood was the son of a tenant farmer who arrived on the island of Jamaica in April 1750, and assumed the position of overseer at a major plantation. What is most shocking about Thistlewood’s diary is not simply the fact that he assumes the right to own and possess other human beings, but is the sheer cruelty and brutality of his regime. In 1756, he records that “A slave named Darby catched eating canes; had him well flogged and pickled, then made Hector, another slave, s–t in his mouth.” This became known as Darby’s dose, a punishment invented by Thistlewood that spoke only of the slave owners savagery and inhumanity. And he mentions a similar incident again in 1756, this time in relation to a man he refers to as Punch. “Flogged Punch well, and then washed and rubbed salt pickle, lime juice and bird pepper; made Negro Joe piss in his eyes and mouth.” I could go on, but you get the point. When Mrs. Palin invoked slavery, she doesn’t just prove her rank ignorance. She confirms that if anyone truly qualified for a dose of discipline from Thomas Thistlewood, then she would be the outstanding candidate."

Non-stop personal attacks against their ideological opponents. I'd call Bashir a foul piece of excrement, but that would be insulting to excrement. MSNBC's Alec Baldwin got suspended from the airwaves for calling someone a fag, but this guy gets away with this. Where's the outrage from women's groups? Nowhere, because it's just so fine to liberals to hear and say the most vile and disgusting things about conservative women. Those womens rights groups that say nothing in response are even more despicable than Bashir. Anyone on CNN or Fox who would have said anything like this would have be fired immediately, but on MSNBC the offender gets a Keith Olbermann commemorative medalion. And in addition to being a pig, he's also a blithering idiot. He doesn't know that Jamaica is not now, nor has it ever been, a part of the USA. It gained it's independence from ENGLAND in 1962. So HIS English ancestors are those guilty of the horrible acts he now wishes upon Sarah Palin.

Quote:Originally posted by Jongsstraw: Bashir apologizes to Sarah Palin on Monday : "I wanted to take this opportunity to say sorry to Mrs. Palin, and to also offer an unreserved apology to her friends and family, her supporters, our viewers, and anyone who may have heard what I said," Bashir said. "My words were wholly unacceptable. They were neither accurate nor fair. They were unworthy of anyone who would claim to have an interest in politics, and they have brought shame upon my friends and colleagues at this network, none of whom were responsible for the things that I said. "America leads the world in the battle of ideas," he said, "but what I did on Friday had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with that great tradition, and I am deeply sorry. Upon reflection, I so wish that I had been more thoughtful, more considerate, more compassionate, but I was not. And what I said is now a matter of public record." A good apology from Bashir, timely and well-spoken.
