Shocker !!

( No, not really )

Democrats who oppose the Keystone XL pipeline have thousands of dollars invested in direct competitors to the company looking to build the pipeline, public records show.

A recent environmental assessment by the State Department was seen as a step toward the pipeline’s approval, but Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., remains opposed to its construction.

“In my view, there is now enough evidence to conclude that construction of this pipeline is not in America’s long-term interest,” Kaine said in a statement on the review.

The freshman Democrat has between $15,000 and $50,000 invested in Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, according to his most recent financial disclosure. Kinder Morgan is looking to build a pipeline that would directly compete with Keystone.

Kinder Morgan is considering expanding its Canadian pipeline infrastructure with an expansion of the Trans Mountain Pipeline, which carries oil sands crude from Alberta to refineries and export terminals on Canada’s west coast.

It'll proably get built, but we're not gonna see any changes in energy prices except that they'll go higher soon enough. The oil industry is corrupt whether it's Democrats or Republicans. They make billions of dollars in PROFIT annually, and yet they get Govt. subsidies? It's beyond absurd.

Oh yeah, and PROFIT is soooo bad, huh?

The govt gets a windfall in tax revenue from BIG OIL, despite the subsidies.

I'm a firm believer in capitalism, but there is a point where you have to wonder if what they call profits is really just gluttonous exploitation of a vital necessity. Companies like Exxon, Texaco, and others each have reported quarterly profits in excess of 50 billion ... that's 50 billion NET profit for 3 months after all the salaries, production costs, materials, research, exploration, corporate dinners and parties, etc. etc. I find that extremely piggish. Suppose their net quarterly profit was only 25 billion or even 10 billion instead of 50 billion? What would be so bad about that? Isn't that enough? Is there something they actually need the other 25 billion for? Our economy has been hurt for the last 5 years because of sustained high gas prices. Eliminate all the industry subsidies, cut the Fed. and State taxes on gas, and watch the economy respond positively.

Keystone XL will RAISE oil prices in the USA. Currently the Canadian companies who will own the proposed pipeline can only sell their product semi-locally, in Canada and in the Northern parts of the US. If this pipeline is built, they will have access to global markets for their tar sand oil that were previously unavailable to them, thus creating more demand for their product, and increasing its price.

There is almost zero tangible benefit to the USA to offset the environmental consequences involved in building this pipeline.

More product in a sluggish economy?

Looks like low demand , which = lower costs. At least for the present.

“In my view, there is now enough evidence to conclude that construction of this pipeline is not in America’s long-term interest,” Kaine said in a statement on the review.

To the Left, merely paying lip service and and making empty, baseless statements , but doing so in a confident and official sounding manner is all that matters. Style over substance, wins for the Left.

It is s private sector issue because his ginning up the price of energy to increase his kickbacks from Ukraine and China is a Private Sector Issue - no government involved here, no Biden involved here, move along now.

In the past few days the Libtards have accidentally admitted that the pipeline is the best, safest, most efficient and economical method to transport energy fuel. This when the Colonial Pipeline was inoperative.
Heard clips of Lord Darth Biden, Czar Swiftboat Ketchup, Circleback Saki, at the least.
