The press overseas trashes Barry everyday, they don't kiss his ass the way the U.S. media does. The U.S. media has sold it's soul to Barry, but no matter how much they ignore or under report his failures the great unwashed know he's a weak leader. THAT'S WHY his apporval ratings are in the 30's and people over seas see "Vlad the Invader" as strong leader, and Barry as a meat puppet.

That's a very interesting clip. It's also very telling. It tells me that perhaps Obama's utter lack of leadership and his weakening of America has actually woken Europe up from its post-World War II complacency daze. They know Obama is a liar. They know Obama can't be trusted. They know Obama is a pussy. They know that he will betray an ally. They know Obama won't rescue them from their own recklessness and stupidity. For the first time in decades, Europe is scared. They're realizing that the America that saved them from the Nazis and then protected them during the Cold War doesn't exist anymore.

Brilliant. I KNEW one of Barry's sycophants would chime in w/ some sort of a defense.

But indeed, it DOES appear to be a press conference, does it not? So why in the heck is Barry signing off as if he were talking in front of a Dem fund raiser dinner ?

Completely self absorbed narcissism, is why.

Note how folks were chuckling in the audience, after the Prez had left the scene. Truly pathetic.

And NOBC would certainly be an authority on that subject because of all the libtard Niki/Siggy/Kuku/etc/etc circle jerks that appear here every day. I'm sure all her fellow psycho leftist pals appreciate the eagerness to jump in and lap up the messy pot lickins.

To play Devil's Advocate here, Europe does need a tall, strong glass of wake-up. Not unlike Boromir's speech to the Coucil in Rivendell... " By the blood of our people are your lands kept safe ", our military has enabled Europe to spend far less on theirs and more on social engineering programs, welfare, and the like.

A diminished USA is bad enough. But now that Vlad the Conqueror is on the move, and it's plain as day that Obama would rather sing Kumbaya instead of standing up to this regional bully, there's a collective cold sweat breaking out across the land.

Putin isn't Hitler. I don't want to go to war with Russia. There aren't enough red magic markers in the world to draw all those lines in the sand. NATO countries are secure; the rest will have to pull up their big girl underpants and deal.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

First of all, you're comparing a speech to a press conference. And I suspect that press conferences don't end in applause... not even here in the USA. Another pointed difference is that Obama did NOT "sign off" like it was a USA speech. Here, every speech ends with And God bless America.

These two clips, on their very face, are an apples to oranges comparison. Not noticing the difference is about what I'd expect from the RW mentation here.

OTOH, there is a significant disenchantment with Barry in some European circles- not because he isn't tough enough, but because he's TOO tough. The dividing line seems to be primarily based on which nations are dependent on Russian gas and oil, because while Russian energy supplies represent approximately 35% of EU energy consumption, the percentage isn't equal among all nations. Hence, some nations have far more at risk:

Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Republic of Macedonia 100%
Belarus 98%
Serbia, Montenegro 87%
Bulgaria 92%
Czech Republic 77.6%
Greece 76%
Ukraine 66%
Turkey 64%
Hungary 60%
Slovenia 52%
Austria 49%
Poland 48.15%
Croatia 37%
Germany 36%
Italy 27%
Romania 27%
France 14%
Belgium 5%
Switzerland 12%
Britain <1%

Britain and France can afford to be far more hawkish in following the USA lead, while Germany and the Netherlands are far more circumspect. You don't hear much of what the smaller nations say, but I did read- glancingly- that both Poland and Hungary have openly said that sanctions should NOT be placed on Russia.

There is an economic and (therefore) political realignment going on in the EU, headed by Germany. China is Germany's 3rd/5th largest trading partner in terms of imports/ exports, and Russia is 11th/7th. But a critical component of Russian imports is energy.

https://www.destatis.de/EN/FactsFigures/NationalEconomyEnvironment/For
eignTrade/TradingPartners/Tables/OrderRankGermanyTradingPartners.pdf?__blob=publicationFile

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/14/business/global/14trade.html

Germany is looking to China for its trade, and has JUST signed a deal with China to settle accounts in renminbi. (BTW- so has Britain.) Germany has asked for its gold to be repatriated from Ft Knox. But, as far as cooperation from the USA government, the gold may as well be in Mt Gox. The idea, I think, is that Germany is preparing to leave the EU (not a bad idea) and would like to have some gold to back up that new Deutschemark! While the gold is unavailable from Mt Gox... er, I mean Ft Knox... I think the motivation is still there.

It also doesn't help that a new, THIRD NSA spying-scandal has broken out in Germany. Not hoovering up the emails of hapless German citizens, or even zeroing in on Angela Merkel's cell phone. Nope, THIS one involves hoovering up data from Germany's three largest fast/secure providers, who collectively provide (supposedly secure) high-speed internet access via satellite/cable to Germany's troops and engineering etc firms across the globe. Oh dear! Germany's citizens are - gosh, just ordinary people and don't count, and Merkel might be personally placated, but German businesses?? They have money. They have influence. So watch out! You keep pissing off your partners enough, and sooner or later they'll ditch you. Whatever happens I'm sure will be quiet, but effective.

I don't know whether China and Russia are working together or working separately but they have both determined to topple the US dollar as the world's reserve currency and petrodollar, and Germany seems all too happy to go along- at least with the China part of the plan.

Obama IS an idiot, but it has nothing to do with whether or not he can or will play the military card, but how adroitly he manages to steer the USA through the fall of the petrodollar. It will involve maintaining our energy independence, and recognizing the new economic and geopolitical realities, and making new alliances (or at least, not offending them any more than has already been done). People who expect Obama to react like Ronnie Raygun or GWB are not aware of the new realities, and what they advocate will only make things worse, not better.

One may note, if they observe, that everyone was wearing IDs and holding cameras. This was not a speech. It was a press event.

But, the gullible ODS loons lap it up without a thought. They don't really think all that much, you know.

Some douche puts it on youtube, then suddenly it's "Obama gets dissed." Uh, no.

Only way Obama gets an audience or applause these days is to hand out free chimichangas to homeless people, or have his IRS goon squads round up homeowners and threaten to audit them if they don't look happy enough.

It's not that I disagree so much , it's that we've kinda painted ourselves into a corner now, and there's not much we CAN do. But that doesn't mean we're completely out of options.

Offer to supply them w/ natural gas, is one possibility. Do more to comfort Poland and others that we're still on their side. Work w/ NATO to reassure them we're not going anywhere... lots of things we could do, none involving direct military action, but Barry simply refuses.

I tried, more than a few times, to branch out and read such tales by other authors, but Tolkien spoiled me. What can I say ? He's laid down such an intricate and full back story, a deep history of Middle Earth, that every time I tried to read other books, I just kept thinking " cheap knock off " , and lost interest.

I have started in on Butcher's Dresden Files, which seems pretty decent so far.
