"Right after the Supreme Court's decision to lift limits on campaign contributions, Democrats and their left-wing supporters assaulted the decision as a boon to Republicans, "the party of the rich."

This of course is part of a far-wider narrative — slavishly repeated by largely unquestioning liberal media — that the GOP outspends Democrats on campaigns thanks to big-buck donors like the billionaire Koch brothers.

But, as it turns out, that's a lie — as big a lie, in fact, as "you can keep your insurance," "you can keep your doctor" and "ObamaCare will bend the cost curve down."

By almost every measure, in fact, it's the Democrats, not the Republicans, who are the party of the rich.

Start with Congress itself. Who are the wealthiest members? Well, there are 269 millionaires among Congress' 535 members. And most of them are Democrats.

And contrary to the hand-wringing on the left about the Supreme Court's 5-4 McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission ruling Wednesday, Democrats far outspend Republicans on elections. It isn't even close.

According to OpenSecrets.org, from 1989 to 2014 rich donors gave Democrats $1.15 billion — $416 million more than the $736 million given to the GOP. Among the top 10 donors to both parties, Democrat supporters outspent Republican supporters 2-to-1.

But what about the villainous Koch brothers, those conservative plutocrats supposedly seeking to control American politics? They rank 59th on the list of big givers — behind 18 unions and No. 1 Act Blue, the massive left-wing fund raiser that gives only to Democrats.

Indeed, a recent book, "The New Leviathan," says donations to Democrats outstrip those to Republicans 7-to-1. How can this be? Democrat support soars when you include unions, universities, superPACs, nonprofits, left-wing interest groups, and — ready for this? — Wall Street (which overwhelmingly favors Democrats).

So Democrats don't really want to restrain money in politics. Just the money that goes to Republicans.

Voters need to stop listening to the lies. Since 2008, the number of people who call themselves middle class has plunged from 53% to 44%, according to a new survey by the Pew Research Center.

And, by President Obama's own admission, his party's control of Congress and the White House has led to 95% of all income gains going to the top 1% in income.

So please, enough of this about Democrats being the party of the little guy."

#59 - Koch Brothers ... Yet Harry Reid, Debbie Wasserman-Schits, MSNBC, and the rest of the lying libtard Tokyo Roses scream every day how the Koch Bros. are destroying democracy. What a load of crap!

Dude, let's get real here for just a millisecond. The RICH are the party of the rich. Some Republicans want to be fiscally responsible; some Democrats want to do what's right regarding social policies, but make no mistake, there ain't a REAL big difference 'twixt the two. It really is the puppet theater the Parliament jesters foist on the somnambulant public...

2072.5 total Democratic spending, outspent by Republicans 3 to 4
2739.3 total Republican spending

On the presidential level, President Barack Obama's re-election campaign outspent the campaigns of all his Republican rivals put together. Obama's campaign spent about $737.9 million, compared to the combined Republican total of $624.8 million. Spending by other committees in the presidential race, however, heavily favored Republicans and helped make up the deficit. (Including other committees Democrats spent a total of $862.4 million while Republicans spent $1079.3 million.)

The Republican National Committee, for instance, laid out $333.9 million for the presidential contest, far more than the Democratic National Committee's $197.8 million. Outside spending by super PACs and politically active nonprofits on the presidential race also came out heavily in favor of Republicans. Conservative outside groups spent $454.(total $1079.3 million) to get a Republican elected president, while liberal outside groups spent a relatively paltry $124.5 million (total $862.4 million)

Spending by all House and Senate candidates topped $1.7 billion, with House candidates alone responsible for almost exactly $1 billion of the total. House Republican candidates held the edge in spending, accounting for about $532 million, while Democrats accounted for $447 million. In the Senate, Democratic candidates were also outspent -- $331.4 million to $408.5 million by the GOP Senate candidates.

Outside spending on congressional races also heavily favored Republicans over Democrats. Conservative outside spending groups spent $103.5 million on House races, compared to $81.6 million by liberal groups. Similarly, conservative outside groups spent $171.3 million on Senate races, while liberal outside groups spent $98.5 million.

One calculation by which Democrats led Republicans was in non-presidential party spending. Both parties together spent a total of $1 billion this election, of which $583 million was spent by the Democratic party committees and Republican party committees spent $444.7 million.

But you're NOT getting real. You can't generalize and say they're all the same. They want different things and they back politicians who support different things in the laws and culture of the country.

I think you should read the article again. It's about who is rich and who gets their money. I was a bit surprised at the findings, so I won't consider it as absolute gospel. It's just very interesting considering the ongoing campaign of smear attacks the Left uses against Republican donors.

The entire myth that Repulicans are the party of the rich is debunked. But Democrats will never stop lying about it. They will sell the lie as long as they can get away with it.

The Right smears the Left, the Left smears the Right: it's all schoolyard BS from both sides. You don't get voters' attention by calmly discussing facts. Ya gotta sex it up with exaggeration, innuendo & outright fabrication. Smart folk can see what's true with some simple research.
They do have *some* different agendas (politicians), but they all use the same methods to their goals.

It's interesting, Chris,isall

When you think about global climate Armageddon, and wonder why 'something' wasn't done sooner, you realize that democracies exist at the sufferance of the people. And unless you have a really good sell, no candidate is going to be elected on a platform of increasing sacrifice and work, and decreasing comfort and reward. OF COURSE they have to lie. They can't run on the facts.

So when it comes to platforms - what do you think sunk Romney? It wasn't his speeches to the rest of us which were obviously all lies, it was his REAL campaign speech against the 47% which revealed the truth.

Yeah, I know he was addressing a private fund raiser. That's hardly a "campaign speech", and by no stretch of the imagination was he ATTACKING, or speaking out AGAINST anyone.

He was talking campaign strategy, and the reality of the political landscape.

Thanks for posting that video though. It only proves me , and Mitt, all the more right.

If all you're going to do is post childish shit like that can you please just shut the fuck up? Spam another sight. This incessant "You prove me right" crap to nearly any post with which you do not agree, yet cannot argue against thoughtfully & convincingly is real old now.

Meh, pay him no mind. We have more important things to pay attention to.

Well, it does prove me right. Why you're so angry about it, defies explanation.

How am I suppose to argue AGAINST that which itself isn't true ?

And what percentage of voters fall into that category, especially in national elections?
... 5%? ... 10%? ... 15%? ... 25%? ... 33%?

And what about all the rest who don't care what's true and do no research? They ultimately elect the President ... and based on what? Media bias lies and campaign ad lies. Republicans can almost match the ad dollars of Democrats, but they haven't yet figured out how to negate or even minimize the media bias effect. Perhaps next time.

Once again, simple reality appears to be too complex for you to grasp.
