Apparently the EPA has not yet discovered how to do a video conference.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has announced that Administrator Gina McCarthy will promote President Obama’s Climate Action Plan to cut carbon pollution, slow the effects of climate change and leave a cleaner environment for future generations by doing an Earth Week Tour, flying around to talk about how we should cut emissions.

She likes to fly. When she is not flying around to save all of us from emissions, she is commuting to Washington, D.C. weekly from her home in Boston.

The EPA idea of promoting emissions cuts includes flying to New York be on Jon Stewart's Comedy Central program "The Daily Show", then flying to Boston and throwing out the first pitch at a Yankees-Red Sox game, then flying to Cleveland to talk about how emissions are bad for our lungs . There's more but I don't want her to think I am picking on her. Oddly, no one at the EPA gets why it looks bad to do that on Earth Day.

We always get this sort of irony from elites when they are telling us to cut back; if cloying journalists rationalize flying off to yet another climate meeting, it is because they are 'building relationships' that outweigh their emissions. McCarthy feels like people will be talking about Gaea so why not leverage that by...flying all over the country.

The Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility group is having a field day with this, cataloging how many tons of CO2 this is generating and wondering why the EPA didn't think about how it looked.

Will another talk from the EPA accomplish any 'awareness'? Is there seriously anyone not aware of climate change by now?

Wouldn't it be better to practice what you preach?

“If EPA really wants to combat climate change, it should finalize its long-stalled carbon controls on power plants,” PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch said.

And learn to use a cable modem to show up at talks.

Jeez, is it Earth Day again? Guess I'll have to find and dust off my 1971 Last Whole Earth Catalog. It's always a good read in the john.

I do love trees, except when my golf ball rolls up next to one.

Just to make note, the irony is not lost on me. She should use public transportation.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

Doesn't matter.
It's kind of like asking people to keep America beautiful while your dog takes a dump on the side-walk.

That's the point. She ought not be burning so much fuel, regardless of the good intentions. But the political message, beyond the actual stuff about doing the right thing, seems to be the goal here.

Does that seem right to you ?

is unimportant to the point. The point is it looks stupid to burn extra fuel to tell people not to burn so much fuel.

Biden had to fly to Kiev to say that America's gonna give 'em $50 million. I bet that's gonna scare the crap out of Putin! He could have done it over the phone, or Skype, or Go To Meeting and saved the gas. Ukraine could have used that extra money to buy more hot dogs and marshmallows to cook over the embers of the next synagogue they burn down. And how nice for Biden that he can just pull $50 million taxpayer dollars out of his pocket to give away. Must make him feel as good as I do when I give the panhandler at the street intersection a buck or two.

And Obama, his family, and his dogs all took separate planes to Martha's Vineyard last visit. Three jets ... no fuel wasted there!

Always has been ...

Mademoiselle Rimbaud: Your Majesty! I was raised in a convent. I don't indulge in pleasures of the flesh.
King Louis XVI: You don't put out, he don't get out.
Mademoiselle Rimbaud: Your Majesty, I simply don't do it.
King Louis XVI: Come on, you do it. You love to do it. We all do it. You do it...
Mademoiselle Rimbaud: No, I don't!
King Louis XVI: I do it, I love to do it. I just did it and I'm ready to do it again, don't tell me you don't do it!
