I see Clint Eastwood as sort of a Conservative nut, but there's no denying he can turn out some pretty effective & entertaining stuff (Firefox is my personal favourite of his; a movie he actually made as opposed to merely having starred in).
Is that how righties here see Joss? A Liberal nut that can nonetheless turn out some good works?

I can't find it on the Socialist Brain of a Liberal Democrat map
that Jongs posts. I can only assume that the awesome & original
art gland is hidden somewhere, prob'ly just under the sagittal and
coronal sections. While there are numerous logic lobes devoted
to political concerns, the art gland normally doesn't interact with
them.
(Wait a sec while I check my cites.)

... oooOO}{OOooo ...

I've given up looking for the meaning of life. Now all I want is a cookie.

Joss likes to surprise people. Being a garden variety lefty is boring.

So is it that creativity is unconnected to political persuasion?
Honestly, when Clint didn't kill the second pilot, that made me love the film because that bit of humanity trumped the stereotypical Right-wing reactionary junk I'd been seeing in the films of that era.
Sometimes the artist can see beyond his own personal views.
That's coolness IMO.

Firefox is your favorite Clint Eastwood movie? That is almost impossible to believe, unless you actually haven't seen ...

The Outlaw Josie Wales
Unforgiven
Pale Rider
Gran Torino
Where Eagles Dare
Kelly's Heroes
Dirty Harry
Sudden Impact
Play Misty For Me
and a hundred others

but hey, yeah Firefox!

And of course left-wing loons can make movies that appeal to audiences of all political persuasions. If they couldn't they'd be run out of town. Steven Spielberg is one of the most powerful men in Hollywood, and he's at the top of the liberal hierarchy out there, but I like almost everything he's ever done.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Jongsie - if your kids saw your posts here, would they roll their eyes b/c there you are, wasted and raving AGAIN; or would they be embarrassed and ashamed that you are not what you pretend to be in front of them.

OONJERAH - We are too dumb to live and smart enough to wipe ourselves out.

I think the great thing about movies & TV is, when a person of a particular political persuasion makes entertainment, they can create a world in which their view works. Take the old Red Dawn: I SO disagree with the politics of the film, yet I can enjoy the movie anyway.

And speaking of politics in entertainment, Demolition Man was awesome IMO.

Politics in Red Dawn?

Demolition Man - stupid, but Sandra Bullock made it bearable

Logan's Run - the gold standard of the genre ... the circuit! ... that powdery drug thing Francis tossed up to the ceiling! ... the orgy store at the mall ... Jenny Agutter!

I disagree- Dennis Leary MADE that movie more awesome than it otherwise would have been. His last rant was a pitch perfect battle cry against all the PC bullshit that has infested this country.

" That's right. You see, according to *Cacteau's* plan. *I'm* the enemy. Because I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, freedom of choice. I'm the kind if guy who would sit in the greasy spoon and think "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the big rack of Barbecued spare ribs with the side order of gravy fries?" I *want* high cholesterol. I want to eat bacon, butter and buckets of cheese alright? I want to smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinatti in a non-smoking section. I wanna run around naked with green jell-o all over my body reading a Playboy magazine. Why? Because maybe I feel the need to okay pal? I've *seen* the future, you know what it is. It's made by a 47 year-old virgin in gray pajamas soaking in a bubble bath, drinking a broccoli milkshake and thinking "I'm an Oscar-Meyer Wiener". You wanna live on top, you gotta live Cacteau's way. What he wants, when he wants, how he wants. Your other option: come down here, maybe starve to death."

Alliance scum, not a jot.
Both ends of this spectrum lead to fascism, and I do not hold to that.
Back in the early 21st Century on Earth-that-was the Cortex lists all Presidents as cogs in the Corporate Chinese/American takeover and subsequent final destruction of our biosphere, and it's the single most correct entry IMO.

That's because it was illegal (and still is, in 48 states). Doing an illegal drug carries that reality tax.
