Mike Vandergoegh is a self-described “wolverine” and leader of the Three Percenters, a right-wing militia group whose specific purpose is to prepare to fight a war against an imaginary tyrannical government. Yet, he blames Senate Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) for attempting to incite an epic second Civil War. Vandergoegh sent Reid a clear warning during his speech to the collective troops at the Cliven Bundy Nevada ranch.
Quote:

Don’t poke the wolverine with a sharp stick, Harry, unless you want your balls ripped off. ... This is a long war, an eternal war really. The domestic enemies of the Constitution and the Founders’ Republic will be there until we defeat them — or we are ourselves defeated by our own failures to learn the lessons that they teach us.

Vandergoegh fully expects a war and believes it is the job of his members to fight Sen. Reid by placing themselves, “between the iron fist of tyrannical government and their intended victims,’ even if they must die in the battle: "You can’t intimidate us. Try to kill us, if you think you can. We shoot back."

(not coming out for me...link is at youtube.com/watch?v=2uEXkmMealE -- the usual " https://www."; in front.)

Stupid, ignorant old fart.

I did enjoy the comments left on YouTube:

"So....a criminal wants a civil rights war? All because he doesn't want to pay taxes like the rest of the country."

"Let me think, the fist civil war was to end slavery. The second would be so a guy could evade taxes. Say if the bundy team did win the civil war, don't you think they would have handled it the same way as our government did? Some guy owes you over a million dollars and says he doesn't. Wouldn't you bring your armed buddies to collect?"

"... because state sponsored violence is the only way they can win an argument." Ehhh - hypocrisy much? Memo to this idiot: "They" won the arguments in the courts... repeatedly. (You know, the way civilized folks settle disputes, following the rule of law as set down by our Founders in the Constitution - which you pay lip service to w/o having a clue WTF you're talking about.)

More hypocrisy: The threat of violence was the only recourse for these nutters. Of course, little things like consistency and reality don't count for much to these drooling half-wits."

"Easy for an old sheepfucker that is one foot from the grave to call for civil war. It amazing the inbred lot (including the young ones) are cheering."

"Cliven Bundy is just pushing his luck. He's not going to stop, until he's shot by the feds. How can anyone take this fool seriously? He's a racist, tax-evading, whiny old man, who cries about having to pay his taxes, and gets mad that he has responsibilities to this country to pay those taxes. "

This is becoming a lot more interesting than I'm generally comfortable with.

That's just an awful mental image, either way.

Well, it looks like they can't even play nice among themselves:
Quote:

Pretend Army Boys Can’t Play Nice at Bundy Ranch; Factions Splinter over Drone Paranoia

Infighting between two factions of heroic patriots stationed at Cliven Bundy‘s ranch in Nevada reached a fever pitch earlier this week, with a group of aggrieved militiamen turning against the Oath Keepers. The splintering of the once-unified front is surprising, unless of course you’ve ever seen what happens when a group of children start crying over whose turn it is to play with the Legos.

The trouble started, the Southern Poverty Law Center explains, when a member of the Oath Keepers received a very reliable report, from a contact in the Defense Department, that Attorney General Eric Holder had approve a drone strike on their big boy dress-up army man game. And so Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes determined that he had to get his boys out of –-

Excuse me for a moment here… BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Sorry. Ahem. Rhodes determined that it would no longer be safe for his group to stay inside of “the kill zone” where Holder and Obama were most definitely coming to bomb them. With a drone. Maybe a nuke-equipped drone? Who’s to say.

The Oath Keepers’ Franklin Shook explained more on the supposed aerial robot attack:
Quote:

Yes, it is true: Oath Keepers received a bizarre bit of leaked info which could not be verified but which also could not be ignored. Our contact is connected with the Department of Defense – or ‘was’. The info we received stated that Eric Holder of the Department of Justice had okayed a drone strike on the Bundy ranch near Bunkerville, Nevada, within a 48 hour period over the weekend of April 26/27, 2014.

That, fortunately, turned out to be ‘dis-info’ – a false rumor. And though it came from a trusted source, Oath Keepers could neither prove nor disprove it.”

This mis-info came from a trusted source, a former Special Forces soldier with significant connections inside DOD. Though the info was unbelievable, in the present climate generated by the BLM and Senator Harry Reid (who called the ranchers and their friends “domestic terrorists”), Oath Keepers decided that the info must be regarded as indicating that a drone attack was at least “possible”.

Also possible: Obama riding into the camp in a blonde Khaleesi wig on the back of a dragon.

Naturally, Rhoades and company didn’t want to stick around to find out. But their turning tail and running wasn’t taken lightly by the rest of the armed toddlers.

One of the militiamen, a Montana “patriot” named Ryan Payne who has taken to speaking for the group, explained his taking umbrage to this “dereliction of duty” and “desertion” in the video below. The penalty for desertion, you might be wondering, even in the pretend army, is death (As a side note, has anyone explained why these people don’t have jobs to go to?):
Quote:

“We are open to gentlemanly conversation. But this man and the people that obeyed that order have violated my personal creed. You don’t fucking walk in and say, ‘I’m sorry,’ and you’re back in, brother. You can walk in and say you’re sorry, and you’re lucky that you’re not getting shot in the back. Because that’s what happens to deserters on the battlefield.”

It gets even stupider from there. More transcript from some of the fracturing of good will, and fracturing of the boundaries of logic and common sense, between the two rival gangs can be found at http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/04/28/1295220/-Bundy-Ranch-Security

Totally unrelated, I know, but it still made me chuckle...

Oathkeeper is a Valyrian steel longsword which is forged by Tobho Mott[1] from Eddard Stark's greatsword, Ice, along with the smaller blade, Widow's Wail. It has black and red ripples through the steel. Its scabbard glitters gold and is decorated with a row of lion's heads and smoldering red rubies.[2] The pommel has a golden lion's head with ruby eyes that shine like two red stars.[3]

Oathkeeper ... did Jaime give Brienne the sword because he loves her, or is he just a hopeless sister-screwer?

I really can't say what his feelings towards Brienne are, other than respect, friendship and a sense of loyalty. I'm not that much a fan of the series, as I've not read the books, but I do dig dragons and such.

But Jamie certainly is a hopeless sister-screwer. That much I do know.

I think he loves her, but not in a romantic way. At least that was never how I read it. She's the shining, honorable knight he wanted to be when he was a kid.

Also: Woooooooooooooow on the whole Bundy thing.

Meanwhile, back to the original subject of the thread: Here's a fun fact... Mike Vandergoegh, that old fart firebrand screaming about the government? He lives on Social Security disability… ( http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/03/25/AR2010
032501722_2.html?sid=ST2010032402500
). So this guy, who calls himself a "Christian libertarian", gets paid by the government to run around the country preaching civil war. I guess he only believes in the part of the government that gives HIM "freebies".

Maybe that helps answer Mediaite's question "has anyone explained why these people don’t have jobs to go to?"
