The two could not be any different. What Palin was jokingly attempting to convey was basically a conversion via Inquisition methods, to get the Jihadists to convert, via waterboard ,instead of being baptized.

What I ,and I suspect most conservatives take offense to , is not Palin's openness to the use of waterboarding of terrorists , but her comparing it to being baptized. She appears to have double downed on her comments, focusing on the issue of dealing w/ terrorists, and not how she compared 1 act to another.

I agree w/ her willingness to do what is necessary ( not " what ever it takes " ) to stop the murder of innocents by these radical killers. MY issue is how she tried to associate it to a calm, even pleasant act of baptism, which isn't done out of coercion, but entered into freely. ( Unless it's an infant being baptized, then it's just sprinkles of water , with no real meaning to them. )
