Moore claimed: "You can’t be happy unless you follow God’s law, and if you follow God’s law, you can’t help but be happy."

It is just astounding to me someone with such intellect can be so blinded by an Ideology the way this judge is. The whole point was to protect every religion so none would be singled out for harassment. This is why the separation of church and state.

1. An intelligent friend, better educated than me, I thought, in
the full light of day and cold sober told me, "The USA should be
a Christian country; our founding fathers intended it that way."
The guy is a pastor, but that's no excuse!

2. A bullheaded, ignorant relative also believes the USA should
be a Christian country by law, not just by custom. The fact that
religious persecution in Europe drove many to come here has no
meaning for her. She's deaf to history, as well as reason.

OK. So let me explore this potential. Say tomorrow, Congress
passes a law & Obama signs it, saying that the United States
is now a Christian country. Great!! Now what?

Christians are nothing if not Divided by nitpicking notions about
God's true intent. Immediately, the various denominations would
start fighting over which one gets to be The Official State Religion.

How does that work in a capitalist society? Easy. The richest
church wins.
And I guarantee, it ain't gonna be my relative's poor little
country pew nor my smart friend's own faith.

Let the Religious Persecution be restored to the max!
The Inquisition starts on Monday.

One of my grandparents was Jewish-- that's enough to claim them as "my" people, when I choose.

"My people" would say that "our" God YWHV (think I spelled that right.) was The Creator, and this christian guy Jesus was a nice kid, but not THE MESSIAH. He was "our" creator before he was yours. SO are "WE" protected, or not? 'Cuz we been persecuted plenty of times, world-wide and here in America. "Our" rights haven't been protected very well.

Raised a Catholic and am a none believer now. Science is the way to go. If you are Jewish do not take this the wrong way but it will be roundup time for a lot of these nuts. I am not saying all religious people are nuts, not at all, what I am saying is their ranks are full of them though.

History is chock full of religious persecution.
Apparently, its popularity never quite dies out. The idea
of it truly offends both intellectually and emotionally.

If I recall right, there were a good many people in England
of the wrong denominations in the era before and during
the colonization of North America.

Most of them did jail time and had their property confiscated.
They were the Lucky ones who received mercy.
