Speaking at the Pastor for Life Luncheon, which was sponsored by Pro-Life Mississippi, Chief Justice Roy Moore of the Alabama Supreme Court declared that the First Amendment only applies to Christians because "Buddha didn't create us, Mohammed didn't create us, it was the God of the Holy Scriptures" who created us.

"They didn't bring the Koran over on the pilgrim ship," he continued. "Let's get real, let's go back and learn our history. Let's stop playing games." http://www.drudge.com/news/178624/first-amendment-only-protects-christ

He claimed that he would be publishing a pamphlet “this week, maybe next” that contained copies of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, thereby proving that all the people “who found this nation — black, white, all people, all religions, all faiths” knew that America was “about God.”

Moore claimed: "You can’t be happy unless you follow God’s law, and if you follow God’s law, you can’t help but be happy."

This isn’t the first time that Moore has made a mockery of the judicial system with his religious extremism ( http://fl1.findlaw.com/news.findlaw.com/hdocs/docs/religion/glsrthmre1
11802opn.pdf
). He was once removed as Chief Justice for being overtly religious on the bench ( http://www.al.com/specialreport/?111303moore.html). Clearly, this is an endorsement of a specific religion by a government official who stated his intention to use his religious beliefs when making court decisions.

There goes that separation of church and state again. And they talk about left-wing "activist judges"!

It is just astounding to me someone with such intellect can be so blinded by an Ideology the way this judge is. The whole point was to protect every religion so none would be singled out for harassment. This is why the separation of church and state.

George Washington and his Letter to the Jews of Newport

The original of Washington’s Letter to the Hebrew Congregations of Newport, Rhode Island is small in size, but its impact on American life is immense. In 340 well-chosen words, the Letter reassures those who had fled religious tyranny that life in their new nation would be different, that religious “toleration” would give way to religious liberty, and that the government would not interfere with individuals in matters of conscience and belief. Quoting the Bible’s Old Testament, Washington writes,

Just rename it 'Alabamastan ' and be done w/ it.

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

Christian America:

1. An intelligent friend, better educated than me, I thought, in
the full light of day and cold sober told me, "The USA should be
a Christian country; our founding fathers intended it that way."
The guy is a pastor, but that's no excuse!

2. A bullheaded, ignorant relative also believes the USA should
be a Christian country by law, not just by custom. The fact that
religious persecution in Europe drove many to come here has no
meaning for her. She's deaf to history, as well as reason.

OK. So let me explore this potential. Say tomorrow, Congress
passes a law & Obama signs it, saying that the United States
is now a Christian country. Great!! Now what?

Christians are nothing if not Divided by nitpicking notions about
God's true intent. Immediately, the various denominations would
start fighting over which one gets to be The Official State Religion.

How does that work in a capitalist society? Easy. The richest
church wins.
And I guarantee, it ain't gonna be my relative's poor little
country pew nor my smart friend's own faith.

Let the Religious Persecution be restored to the max!
The Inquisition starts on Monday.

One of my grandparents was Jewish-- that's enough to claim them as "my" people, when I choose.

"My people" would say that "our" God YWHV (think I spelled that right.) was The Creator, and this christian guy Jesus was a nice kid, but not THE MESSIAH. He was "our" creator before he was yours. SO are "WE" protected, or not? 'Cuz we been persecuted plenty of times, world-wide and here in America. "Our" rights haven't been protected very well.

Raised a Catholic and am a none believer now. Science is the way to go. If you are Jewish do not take this the wrong way but it will be roundup time for a lot of these nuts. I am not saying all religious people are nuts, not at all, what I am saying is their ranks are full of them though.

Eastern Ukraine, case in point. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2014/04/17/jews-ordered-to-re
gister-in-east-ukraine/7816951
/

Look at the Middle East as an experiment on the effects of not separating church and state.

History is chock full of religious persecution.
Apparently, its popularity never quite dies out. The idea
of it truly offends both intellectually and emotionally.

If I recall right, there were a good many people in England
of the wrong denominations in the era before and during
the colonization of North America.

Most of them did jail time and had their property confiscated.
They were the Lucky ones who received mercy.

Seriously! There are people that think this way in our judicial system?
He should join the likes of Sterling and Cheney.
