I've never registered it, and where I live now it's not necessary.

I've never fired it.

I've never loaded one of the 7 or 8 bullets that came with it.

I've never gotten a C&C permit, even though for the first time in my life I live somewhere where I could get one.

I've never fired an actual gun, ever.

I've never received any training, other than how to dismantle and clean and oil it and reassemble it. And also to never point it at any living thing you don't intend to shoot, including yourself.

The point is that I have it. I don't see what's so bad about that.

My neighborhood is really nice right now, but might not be that way forever. This isn't racist thinking. This is growing up in an area where my grandparents never locked their doors to one where there are bars on all the stores at night 30 years later.

I don't see why it's okay to punish good people because of what bad people have done....

If ya don't need it, sell it. As for being a bad person, if you do bad things with it, you're a bad person. If ya don't, you're fine. Take to a range and fire it, if ya don't like it, get rid of it. When my father died I sold all his guns, I didn't keep any of them and I'm a right-wing loonatic. If anyone threatens me I have a crowbar in my car to solve any problems.

I know a few bad people that DON'T own guns, they're whiney rat finks.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I think if you get very drunk you are a foolish person to keep it around.

Your'e an adult w/ a gun, and have had no training on how to USE the gorram thing.

You ought to know better, and for that, I consider your choices to be poor.

Up til the time you DO learn how to responsibly own a gun, you're doing it all wrong.

Mal had proper training, at least.

Certainly not BAD. But be careful with that thing. Is it in a secure place? Because if somebody else gets ahold of it, and something bad happens, you could be careless or negligent. And if you ever do have to use it, without practice or training, any number of bad things could happen to somebody else or to you.

You might consider going to a range or gun shop and getting a few training and practice sessions, get the experience of the noise and recoil so that if you do shoot it, you'll be able to control it, and have a handle on just how much damage it will do.

There are 3 Walther PPK's in my house (Yeah, Bond fan here). They're not locked up, and sometimes they're loaded. No, I don't sleep with one under my pillow, but woe be to any person breaks in ain't welcome! I'm ready at all times! I'm a good shot too, right or left (like my politics, I conjure). Ambidextrous is the word.
AND, they are unregistered.

But then airsoft plastic pellet shooters that can't penetrate skin are legal here. An eye shot will sting some, though!
Don't mess with me!

Any single American Dollar I have in a bank or in my 401k is worthless. I'm done "gambling" my future. If I manage to keep money in one of those accounts for 20 years and it breaks out even with inflation I'm cool.

Nah... don't worry Signy. I have far too much pride in my brothers to ever do something stupid like that unless we were all in. My bros are my "Jimminey Cricket" ;)

Seriously, If my bros weren't in the picture for the last 30 so years of my life, This would likely be the Brain that was never discussed that figured out how to willingly enslave Humanity.

I would TOTALLY fear a single-child me.

Good thing for all of us I held my younger brothers when they had nightmares.

My youngest, and most troubled brother is only finally accepting me for what I've become.

I did it all for family.

Who here said having one made anyone a bad person?

Overblown hyperbolic nonsense. A straw-man pretending to be a point.

Why sell it if I don't need it? I bought this house with a dishwasher... nearly 3 years ago. God's honest truth, I have absolutely ZERO idea if it works. I can tell you that the only time I ever turned it on was for a second or two when testing which breakers condrolled which outlets and switches in my 2nd or 3rd week here.

I could probably make 50 bucks by selling it, but then I'd just have a big hole where I wish cabinets were, and where I'm sure cabinets used to be before some lazy person installed that stupid machine.

I'd eventually build a new cabinet to fill the hole, just like I'm installing gutters next month. I've needed gutters for 3 years. I'd rather save 50 bucks and let the dishwasher sit there until 2017 when I'm ready to build a new cabinet to replace it.

I know I come off as self abusive probably as much as I come off as rediculously self confident, but at the end of the day in my real life it all balances out. I'm self confident not to ever even really ponder the idea of why I would need a license for conceal and carry. I still like having the gun.

I'm a big "What If?" person.

"What if zombies took over?"..... Shit... I wish I at least went ONCE to the shooting range.

Hey Brenda. :)

If I NEEDED the money, it would be one of the first things I'd sell, because besides my power-tools all of my money is basically in my house. I have old computers and old video game systems and old TVs. In fact, not one of my TVs can get basic channels because I've never bothered getting one of those "new" converters we could have gotten for free from the government 5 years ago or whatever.

As it is, as little money I make I'm not at all worried about where the next meal is coming from. I might not be able to afford an expensive hospital visit with no insurance, but I can stretch a buck with Super Human strength. Trust ;)

I'm cool with the gun right here, locked tight in the blue box it came in. The only reason I bothered to put it up high in a closet that never gets used is because I got a little Niece that occasionally crawls around and will be walking in no time.

Fair enough assumption Kiki. :)

You don't have to believe it, and there's no way you would ever know if I'm being truthful when I say that I've put myself into a position where nobody could ever make me so mad that I'd want to do anymore than punch them in the face a few times, and I only reserve that right for MUCH higher-ups at my company who scream at people until they cry.

At the end of any given day, I don't need my job. I enjoy my job. I enjoy my peers. I enjoy making just enough to live and being able to prove that it's possible.....

I got a big bark, but unless you're directly threatening me or Mine, I'll just flex my muscles until you back down and we'll be friends tomorrow. I don't have any beef with anyone now.

More importantly, I am not romantically involved. Love Bytes.

The ONLY thing that EVER came between me and a friend from childhood was a Girl.

At the end of the day, just another conquest for him.......

I guess the jokes on him though, right....... New marriage and a 2nd kid. Paying child support and trying to be cool Dad and enforce the same rules part-time for on eof the kids.

It's messy and shit. Being on the recieving end of it, I'm sure both of my brothers would back me up here. At the same time, I have no envy for either of my parents shoes, or either of the three of theirs......

I've dodged a lot of bullets and bad decisions unscathed. I don't make a lot of decisions outside of paying bills and saving for major house renovations these days. In many ways it's the perfect life, but I know that no woman living with me would allow me to sit around being lazy between shifts like I'm capable of doing.

My only hangup is, "Why put another person's drama in my life?".

What's the Return on Investment?

Now wait a Gorram minute Rap....

Why are my choices poor?

I OWN a gun, and I admit that I've NEVER been trained how to fire a weapon, but I've also told you that I don't go waving it around, nor do I go to the local police station to start the process for my C&C License.....

In my mind, I've only made two choices here, and I would think you one of the last people to say that they were poor.....

Choice 1: I bought a gun.

Choice 2: I am not trained with this weapon, so I don't bring it out like a goddamned toy.

What's not to like?

Hey NOB!

It wasn't always in a secure place, but I'm seriously suffering from "bubble" issues these days. A bud at work got really pissed at a new guy for slapping him on the shoulder like they were "boys" and even I thought his reaction to it was out of line and I told him so later and they're cool now.

My house is my bubble. Unlike my apartment days, there is a VERY short list of people who are welcome to drop by any time. Even then I wish they called first. That gun sat on my end table in my living room for about 6 months. It was in the case, unloaded, and I didn't even think about it for all that time. It wasn't until I did a Spring Clean and got rid of a ton of junk that I came across it sitting less than a foot away from my head while I sleep for nearly 6 months.....

It is Here.

It is very unlike the real me.

I'm happy to have it at the same time though.

There's no way I'm selling it willingly unless somehow I run out of money for food. If that ever happens, it's only because we're all seriously Boned.

If the end-times ever come, I'm just going to wish that I spent some of that now useless "cash" on a few hundred bullets.... the 7 or 8 i bought with it have to be nearly a decade old now.

I don't want to get lessons now. I don't even remotely feel inclined to do so. All I can say is that I'll never apply for a C&C permit until I'm certified. Even then, I seriously doubt I'd ever walk around with it under my belt unless the world has totally turned to shit by then.

Well... yes Brenda :)

Thanks again for your reply.

I realize that we've never really talked before. You must be at least relatively new to fff.net, at least the RWED (RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!)

It's locked up. It's out of reach of children. I have absolutely no reason to sell it, but at least up until this very second I have no reason to think I will need to use it.

It's kind of like the story of how I own the Roofing Gun I own now....

My stepdad wanted me to come to Michigan with him and help him install a new roof on the car-port. I'm sure after all was said and done, the only reason he needed help at all was because in his mind we were both going to be hammering away at nails all day.

He already had a compressor. This was before I bought the house and even though I wasn't working I had a considerable amount in the bank. I got a corporate Home Depot card with a promise of $75 off my current purchase and bought a high quality roofing gun for around $150. We finished that job so quick that we had a few drinks before it was even time to throw the steaks on the grill.

I still own that roofing gun.

I've never once used that roofing gun in the last 5 years.

That roofing gun is tucked away in my attic, and if I ever need it I know EXACTLY where it is and it would only take me 15 seconds to run upstairs and get it.

One of the very few perks to my house was that it had a nearly brand new roof job with VERY high quality shingles.

Chances are, unless I'm helping a friend, I will never use that roofing gun again in my life.

Why in the world would it be a bad idea to keep it on hand?

Why in the world would I be a bad person for owning it?

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I think that's a little harsh, my friend....

Have I ever given you any reason to believe I'd ever take this gun out in public let alone be anything but paranoid holding it if I hadn't checked 5 times that there were no bullets in it?

Sure.... you're post makes you sound like an asshole in my eyes, but you got a point.

I am usually drunk when I post here.

I own a gun.

I've never taken lessons, or even in the 5-7 years I've owned this hand gun have EVER fired a hand gun.

There's no reason in my mind that a completely rational person couldn't easily balance those three truths in their lives.

But when you put it like that: "Drunk, has a gun, never been trained..."

Well I just sound like on ginormous dick....
