They say nobody is irreplaceable.

I disagree...... The term "Nobody is Irreplaceable" is completely contextual.

When I worked my way up to over $30 an hour to sit around and get fat, nearly tripling my wages 5 years prior, I wouldn't believe it. Now they're paying 7 people who are WAY more educated an upper-middle-class wage to Indians than I could have ever hoped to do with that money here.

At 8 bucks an hour though, I'm completely irreplaceable. I use the "work schedule" as a light guideline of when they want me around. Nobody thinks of me as a "kiss ass". I've helped more people get onto government benefits they didn't even know they were "entitled" to while working for shit.

I'm putting in my two weeks notice.

I've been promised a new position over 4 months ago. I'm done making money for some limp dicked 60 year old CEO. I work way too fucking hard to be poor.

I'm willing to take the risk. Timeline or nothing. I'm done working for free.

EDITED TO ADD: Just about 2 hours into this now...... Still don't know if I'll make 10 hours.

If nobody got the previous "Coffee Cup" story, it's simple. I find much more pleasure out of drinking a good cup of coffee from cups that the management frowns upon us drinking from.

I guess I might have to reconsider doing so if I was ever pulled into the office to refrain from doing it.

Love me or hate me here, you can't say that I wouldn't be a fair manager to those who were giving a real effort.

I never used to give myself the self-esteem needed to make a decent manager. These days, I think I would rock that shit.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Um. Have you done any other job searching and interviews, and how much money do you have saved?

Nope.

About 13k, not including the 70 or so legitimate equity I have.

I am not afraid.

You should probably look for another job and do some interviews. 13K is not that much if something happens.

No... it's not... but any online guide to financial stability will tell you the first step to "financial independence" is to first pay off your credit cards and then make "6 months" of income as a nest-egg.

I know 13k isn't much for most. That would easily pay my bills for 18 months without borrowing any money.

Let's not forget I have an 810 credit score and I could easily secure nearly a hundred thousand more credit if I was planning on one day bailing and putting the bill on somebody else if I wanted to.

I'm sitting on about 45k easy credit card credit, some with cards I've owned nearly 20 years now.

I could spend the next 700 or so days living on my own money before using credit to pay for bills.

I got at least 3 or 4 years before that would be a huge mistake if I didn't do ANYTHING to fix it.

I'm done working for other people.

I've got 4 years to find an alternative before I just go and claim bankrupcy like 9 out of 10 of you have already done or are statistically destined to do.

I can't think of a better reason to put it what little my "carreer" is on the line....

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Medically speaking, you strike me as a bit high-risk. I wasn't even thinking about credit in your case because I know that's not an issue for you.

Not knowing you and seeing how this is so personal I want to tread softly here. I have known many people over the years who vary in age and intelligence that sounded just like you do now. They followed the path you are about to embark on. They all took the approach you are taking.

It is the path to the bottom. Life is like a merry go-round and you can stop it and ask for help at any point in time. Do it now while you have some resources left. Asking for help does not mean you have to accept it. It just means you looked into it and perhaps did something for yourself that may pay off. What could it hurt?

Best of luck to you.

I work with some real douchebags also, I can't afford to quit and take the chance of MAYBE getting a better job, so I drink heavy on Saturdays.

I get $18.50 an hour with OT after 40 hours and my bennys are OK, around here you don't get much better. I eat shit Monday thru Friday, then Friday night... CHEERS!!

You and the rest of the country.... Drinking one day a week is kinda mandatory for most working stiffs, but every day means you got a problem...

Hubby makes a few dollars more, but we sure spend a TON just so he can go to work. They give him a stipend for clothes and tools, but we go through that like water. You know how much a pair of size 13 stompers with all the metal supports goes for???! They're worth it though, he got his feet run over just today. Little bruised, but he's fine.

As for Six, go for it, I say... Either they'll try to keep you and give you the job you want, or maybe you can find someplace better that you'll be happier at...

I get free uniforms and $60 for work shoes, I paid $80 for mine so it was only $20 out of my pocket for a good pair of work shoes. My bosses are OK, but I've told a couple of my co-workers to fuck off a few times. They're whiney little rat finks, but my bosses know I do more work then they do, so they can whine all they please...and fuck off.
