FWIW it was a negotiated price that included the discount for Crimea, and was ratified by both countries. It's hard to say that it was forced on the Ukraine and that they got no consideration in return.

I will say one thing. By threat of death and control of media and a steady diet of lies and fabrications Putin seems to have galvanized his country.
