My second Father's Day present arrived today, and I watched it just now.
Serenity on Blu Ray.
Oh my Buddha, it was amazing. It was like my theatrical viewing, except BETTER. So many small things & details were apparent to me as never before. Serenity herself looked so much more real & fully realized... I finally saw the primary buffer panel fling off in perfect clarity. The Reavers looked all the more disgusting, and the raindrops on the Operative's face looked so... wet!
An unrelated observation: When the Operative said to Mal on the viewscreen that he 'believed in something greater than himself' I immediately thought of AURaptor. So weird.

If you haven't seen this movie on Blu Ray, I urge you to. Purchase a gorram BR player just for this purpose if for no other reason. I got mine for $38 including shipping on eBay.

There were tears. I did not hide them well from my family.
Yes, I AM a geek fan. And proud of it.

"What was that?"

That might be the most decent thing you've ever said about me.

Not sure he meant what you think he meant? Course he could’ve meant that, but he probably meant some other thing entirely? Perhaps he meant something utterly different than what you and I think he meant, which is meant to throw us all off track? Perhaps not? Hey, maybe it was something he was thinking about during a laps out of reality, so what he meant is not really what he meant at all? Could be.

That he 'immediately' thought of me IS weird, I have to admit.

Yeah I understand. Must be a reason for the drastic price reduction though ... maybe the Blu-ray isn't much or any better than the re-mastered set.

Oh, I'm sure it's amazing-looking. But physical media is on its way out. In two years I estimate you won't be finding new physical media for sale at all. Or maybe just an expensive fringe market mixed with cheep new release blockbusters just for us old-timers that don't watch everything on our streaming accounts.

I'll give up my helmet-cased BG dvd set when they pry it from my cold dead fingers.

I got the complete Battlestar Galactica series for the same price after it dropped from $280.00 or more. These shows have been over for a long time now and they must no longer be selling at the higher prices. If they offer the whole 7 seasons of Star Trek at $85.00, I will pick it up.
