He wrote a letter to the CDC proclaiming that the young people "invading" our country from Central America carry with them diseases - chief among them Ebola. “We cannot afford to wait for this to become a full-blown health crisis,” said Gingrey. “As a physician for more than 30 years, I know that these diseases pose great danger to our citizens and can spread too rapidly to control. Our leaders must act swiftly to get ahead of this threat before it gets out of hand, and give the American people the information they deserve on the dangers it poses to their health.” The good Congressman is a doctor, so he should know about these things, should he not? But Ebola!? I recently watched an interview where he stated clearly that he received his information directly from Border Patrol officials. So, this has to be true, doesn't it? Ebola from migrant children from Central America. There is one small problem: The Ebola Virus is generally concentrated throughout southern Africa and parts of Asia. And even in those parts people dying from the virus has been relatively few in recent years. There has not been one documented case of the Ebola virus in Central America - thousands of miles away from Africa. Go ahead search Google Maps. This is coming from a doctor no less. Of course he lied and exaggerated, that goes without saying, but why? Only he knows that answer. SGG

SGG Is he also lying about that other disease never before contracted by an American who never left the country? Reported today on the news I heard.

Is Dr. G " lying " if he actually was told this by the border patrol? At worst, it seems he'd be guilty of not following up. But did he lie, knowing for a fact that the Ebola claim was not true? ETA - Here's a link to the letter. http://gingrey.house.gov/uploadedfiles/gingrey_letter_to_cdc_on_public_health_crisis.pdf There has been a recent outbreak of Ebola, in parts of W. Africa. http://www.latimes.com/world/africa/la-fg-who-ebola-20140718-story.html Not sure why Rep. Gingrey felt the need to add it to the list of very real and likely diseases that illegals are more apt to carry. Even if he's wrong on Ebola, that doesn't take away from the very real threat which still exists.

Quote:Originally posted by SHINYGOODGUY: Ok, breaking it down.................. I did not know that Ebola, until I read an article, was limited to southern Africa. But this doctor, should have. Recent "invasion" - name me one, just one disease, that has caused an epidemic within the US brought on by the immigrants. You know full well that there has not been one report of an outbreak, such as you described.
Quote: I saw the interview, he was lying, as politicians do (well, T party politicos anyway). True, just my opinion. He did not answer the reporter when asked to see hard evidence as to his claim that the Border Patrol said this.
Quote: It's true that anyone could carry disease, but since thousands have "flooded" into the country, where's the outbreak? It's been alluded to that the "invasion" has been going on since Obama took office. That's 2008. Again, where's the outbreak? Has the CDC been influenced by Obama as well? Has anyone reported dead and not reported it to the proper authorities?
Quote: It's been 6 years since Obama opened the floodgates and.................. I know....the wildfires in California serve as a type of crematory for the millions of ailing Americans who have passed due to the Administration's failed policies to protect our borders (I did that from pure memory, that's how much I've heard that broken record).

These children are fleeing for their lives. The US happens to be the closest area available to them, but also this is a great country, known for it's freedoms. People aspire to live here, since the early settlers first landed here from another country. SGG
