The District of Columbia should be allowed statehood, not forced to endure deployment of the National Guard to stop an imagined crime wave.

Not only have we outshined many of our peer cities, but states, too. DC has a population comparable to Vermont, Alaska and North Dakota, but a budget larger than Arizona's.

What the fuck? Is that supposed to be an argument in your favor?

And you even provided links (all 3 links below are cited/linked in the article above)...

State by State Population:
https://www.britannica.com/topic/largest-U-S-state-by-population

Quote:

47. North Dakota (2024 est.) 796,568 (2020) 779,094
48. Alaska (2024 est.) 740,133 (2020) 733,391
49. Vermont (2024 est.) 648,493 (2020) 643,077

Yes. That first part is true. DC does have a population comparable to Vermont, Alaska and North Dakota. 3 of the 4 lowest populated states.

Here's the numbers in the same link for Arizona:

Quote:

14. Arizona (2024 est.) 7,582,384 (2020) 7,151,502

The city of D.C.'s budget for the year:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2025/07/14/dc-council-budget-h
earing-tipped-wages-ranked-choice
/

Yes. That's right. $22 BILLION.

The entire state of Arizona's budget for the year (the 14th highest populated state in the country):

https://coppercourier.com/2025/07/02/arizona-state-budget-passed/

$17.6 Billion.

Hey, Google AI. What was Chicago's 2024 budget?

Quote:

In December 2024, the Chicago City Council approved Mayor Brandon Johnson's 2024 budget totaling
$17.3 billion, which included $181.6 million in new taxes and fees

Hey, Google AI. What is the population of Chicago?

Quote:

The estimated population of Chicago in 2024 is 2,721,308. This makes Chicago the third most populous city in the United States.

What the fuck?

The budget of Chicago is the same as the budget of Arizona, despite the population of Chicago only being roughly 1/4th of that of Arizona's, and the size of the city being dwarfed by the size of that state (think roads, highways, other infrastructure and costs that are still needed to be maintained despite much lower tax revenue with far less people more dispersed).

D.C. Gets the $4.5 Billion more for their budget as the City of Chicago and the entire state of Arizona, despite only having roughly 1/4 the population of Chicago and roughly 1/10th that of Arizona.

What exactly is your argument here, asshole?

You haven't "outshined" shit. And I mean that literally.

You get a boatload of cash every year that FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR exceeds that of anyone anywhere else in the country per-capita and it's a fucking crime ridden shithole anyhow?

You Democrats are fucking stupid. Stop talking. You look worse every day that you keep talking.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Some parts of DC, I hear, are quite exclusive.

Other parts are drug-ridden shitholes. Overall, the crime rate in DC is higher thsn yhe national average. https://crimegrade.org/safest-places-in-washington-dc/

Did you get the overall point though that despite being just less than 1/4th the population of Chicago and 1/10th the entire population of the state of Arizona, their yearly budget is $4.5 Billion more than entire state of Arizona (the 14th most populated state in the country) and is $4.5 Billion more per year than Chicago (the 3rd largest city in the country)?

It looks as though the ONLY metric the writer of that article used when claiming that D.C. "outshines everyone else" is how much US Taxpayer dollars they get to spend in a year compared to everyone else?

The entire article was a huge self-own.

Oh, I got it. I can't account for the budget. Maybe that includes maintenance of all those national monuments and Federal Buildings? Security of Federal Buildings, security for anticipated events like protests etc? I don't know.
Even so, it seems like a lot.

Heh... Don't blame yourself. I'm sure that even after DOGE ransaked the place, nobody in Washington can account for the budget in Washington.

You should take a look at that article.

Outside of putting out a headline for stupid headline-readers like Ted, I have absolutely no idea what this crack smoking pastor was getting at other than embarrassing himself and his dead party.

ETA: I only now realized I didn't link the original article. Here it is, and I put it in the OP too.

Yup. And Democrats are out there begging for a cookie for those numbers.

As I said in the other thread I created the other day...

Quote:

You Democrats really did a great job desensitizing everyone and normalizing murder in every big Blue city in the country over the decades, didn't you?

http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?tid=66961

I also pointed out in that thread that during Peak Covid, the alleged death rate in the USA due to Covid was only 3 times that of the amount of murders per capita in D.C. last year, and roughly 1/5th this year.

Democrats blew up the whole fucking world over Covid, and we're going to be paying that bill for the rest of our lives (both financially and with whatever the hell we turned the always-connected-smart-phone-addicted Generation Z and Generation Alpha into), yet this is no big deal at all. Nothing to see here.

R.I.P. Democrats. You will not be missed.

Something I also said 3 or 4 years ago was "I knew that Democrats were in trouble when they had ME taking the side of The Police".

I do NOT understand why Democrats had to go FULL RETARD on EVERY issue under the sun in the last 12 years and literally ruin everything.

I've been against the Death Penalty my entire life, and right now I'm just not feeling that anymore either. At least not until we get all the illegals out, and the Middle Easterners that HATE America out of our colleges and anywhere else they've taken up residence too.

We don't even know who the hell is living here anymore, and a lot of them hate you. Add on top of that, for 4 years straight, nobody inside of a Big Blue City who wasn't white got arrested for any crime from shoplifting to murder, the old dog cops all retired early, the ones that stayed were ridiculed and abused for at least 2 years straight by the crazy lefties and nearly the Entire Legacy Media every single day, when people started getting hired back the ones who knew what they were doing were all replaced with worthless, fat DEI hires, with half of them being women POCs whom are all clearly in WAY over their heads, in all the managerial roles and other desk jobs... and I don't know what to tell ya, man.

Time to bring some law and order back, and I think until all those above problems are made right, we need to have a serious discussion about putting the Death Penalty temporarily back on the table.

I don't want it in Indiana. We don't need it here besides. Indianapolis is a blip on the radar, and Gary has been very well behaved compared to where it was in the 90's and even during the Biden* years and Trump 1.0 years as well.

I'm curious what your opinion on it in Wisconsin would be, JSF. I'd argue in favor of it right now in California and New York for sure, and almost certainly in Illinois. Wisconsin would be on my probably not list, but then again it's been about 15 years since I lived there and I'm sure a lot has changed.

ETA:

And to further elaborate why I'd argue against it in Indiana and possibly Wisconsin too, while probably arguing for it in Illinois... is complex.

Here's my attempt to overly-simplify it...

1. I am still very much against the death penalty and it almost feels like selling my soul to be for it, even temporarily and even just in selected places where the worst of the worst is going down on a daily basis.

2. Therefore, if it does make a comeback, I want it in a VERY select few places. (And I also want it to have a relatively short expiration date with a new vote needed any time it is to be renewed, at least once per year).

3. Let it be known that other places could be on the table in the future, but it's only being rolled out in, maybe say the TOP 3 worst states... maybe 5 max?

4. Increase arrests meanwhile in the other Big Blue Shitholes and clean up the streets. Get the fucking illegals all out too, of course.

5. Have the media make a big deal about people being arrested and tried for a possible death penalty sentence, and an even bigger deal if several of them are responsible for crimes so heinous that they do get sentenced to Death.

6. And then show it. To everyone. On every Network channel at the same time.

Give all the parents enough of a head's up, even in the weeks and days leading up to this to keep their kids away from the TV when it's shown.

I don't want the scales being tipped so far the other way that we all end up living under a boot man.

But if you do all of the above, just the realization that doing crime on any level is now going to be met with reciprocal punishment, crimes of any scale are going to start going down nationwide. And quickly. And I think a lot of rude ass, angry people out there are going to start being a lot more polite while out in public too.

But you've got to start phasing out the police/military as the problem is being solved, we're finally getting ahead of it, and the bad numbers no longer necessitate the need for as many agents on the taxpayer dime, and we can keep Republicans from going FULL Retard... again...

Let's clean it all up man. There's no reason we have to keep on living like this anymore. We didn't before. But somehow we just let that slow creep into everything and now there's just shit everywhere you look.
