No denying his comedic genius, but the guy had demons ( figure of speech ) , that's for sure.

To be honest, I kind of expected something like this years ago. Not WISHED, but expected. Sad to see him leave like he did.

( Oh, and btw Jongs, as you did not wait the appropriate 15 minutes to post after me, you're now a suspected sock puppet as well. Seems thems the rules of this place. Sorry )

Oh I see. Kinda like waiting times for swimming after eating ... 15 minutes for tuna fish, 21 minutes for turkey and cheese, etc. etc. Thanks for the heads up!

Offed himself in the garage, huh?

A bit more dignified than David Carradine, at least.

Where did I lie ? Did Robin Williams NOT off himself in his garage ? That's the story I heard on the news.

Did David Carradine NOT tie himself up nekked and then choke to death in a hotel closet ?

Please, correct my errors, if there are any.

I think it's because your response is awful that chris said what he did. Are you completely compassionless?

RIP Robin Williams. I am a huge fan since the Mork and Mindy days. Good Will Hunting, The Fisher King,The Birdcage, Jumanji. Loved so much of his work. Sorry that his demons got the best of him.

I started the thread . How was my response awful ? Where was the lack of compassion ?

I think some may simply be taking a negative view of my post simply because they're looking for yet another reason to 'hate'. Sad, and needlessly so.

He's been on a razor's edge for quite a spell now. I think the David Carradine mention, though innocuous, was a gut punch for him.

Well, a loss like this is a gut punch. More so when the one who dies takes their own life. We feel sad & cheated at the same time. As though something personal was taken from us, and we can never get it back.

I get that . It sucks. A lot.

I expect that the cancellation of "The Crazy Ones" probably had something to do with it. We enjoyed the hell out of that show, and never could figure out why it didn't develop a following. Probably because it was not as mean-spirited as many of the 'comedy' shows today.

I gotta say that Rush is trying too hard. He's a broken record. He MAY have a point or just 1/2 a point to make, but not now, not this soon. He ought to know better.

Sounds like Rush forgot that Robin Williams was a patriot who carried on the tradition of Bob Hope.

"Robin Williams participated in United Service Organization (USO) tours for more than a decade, entertaining troops in war zones from Afghanistan to Iraq to Kuwait. He made many trips to 13 different countries and performing stand-up routines for almost 90,000 troops."

Problem is, Rush wasn't speaking ill of Robin Williams, at all. He was talking about THE MEDIA, and its coverage of his death.

Even so, Rush is still an idiot. Here's why.

After 25+ years, he seemingly STILL doesn't get that when he goes on& on quoting what others say, it's easy for the listener to confuse those words as being his own. ( more on this when I have time )

Also, Rush seems to ignore the fact that there are groups like Media Matters who are hell bent in making him look bad & driving him off the air. Such leftist groups are jihadist like in their mission to silence the Right. Of course they'd twist his remarks to the worst possible light. It's all they do.

Fine, fine ... but in THIS particular case it wasn't someone else's words and it wasn't Media Matters twisting anything either. He tried to do a "six degrees of separation" between Robin Williams, leftists' world view, and suicide. Just ridiculous. So inappropriate.

I suspect she refers to your second line of your second post in this thread. Some folk consider reality to be rude, even in RWED. Perhaps she thought this was in GD with the numerous other Robin threads.

What an obsessive compulsive paranoid freaky deaky broken record. "Take my cereal this morning... too much milk and not enough sugar... just like the lefties. See that color? Leftie blue... How much does gas cost? Too leftie much!"

Ummmm...
This is not new, Rush has explained this to listeners many times before, but he does need to repeat the same things over and over in case new listeners AKA previously low-information voters tune in.
And, his point is applicable to Robin, who was as Looney Lefty Lying/Lemming Libtard as can be - if you didn't already know that, pull your head out of the sand. Unknown if he was the Lying version - knowing the libtardity was all lies - or the Lemming version - blindly believing the lies like all the other Libtard Drones.

You're right that it was inappropriate, and I'll agree it was ridiculous, but to be fair, Rush was talking about the MEDIA, and not criticizing Robin Williams, or trying to suggest that " being a liberal " is why he took his life.

Rush plainly stated that he has no idea why RW took his life, and that NO ONE knows, other for certain.

I'd even compare it to Rush's remarks about Michael J. Fox several years ago, which ALSO got completely twisted and turned around as well.

In short, he did not say what many believe he said.

But what does it matter anyways. Those who hate Rush will think the worst of him, regardless.

Robin mostly did this AFTER corrupting the role of the DJ ?Kronhouer? in Vietnam - he couldn't resist proclaiming all his libtard views, constantly implying that he knew what it was like to serve, and that the real-life Soldier had similar Looney Lefty views as Robin did - when in fact this constantly irked the real-life guy, who Robin refused to tour with (so he never went on USO Tours as a result of Robin) because he was a staunch conservative and continually supportive of the military, which Robin largely despised and constantly made fun of - at least when he wasn't on USO Tour.

Sorry, but "patriot" my muscular buttocks.

And that's exactly my POINT ! Your reaction is EXACTLY what Media Matters and others of like agenda are hoping to get. MOST folks don't hear his show, and playing upon that fact, the Left wing media who attack Rush ( or most conservatives ) want to paint the Right in the worst possible light.

Something very similar happened here recently, in another thread. THGR unloaded on ME over something he/she THOUGHT I had said, and then came back to apologize, once it was made clear what I had ACTUALLY said. I was quite impressed, to be honest. Most folks here reply on a hair trigger, and even if shown they are completely wrong, they'll stead fast hold tight to what they WISH were true, instead of admitting they had gotten it wrong.

As so often happens in media, a story gets put out there, and folks just run with it. Saves them from having to do any work themselves , I guess. Read a cross section of stories from different papers, and you'll see they all read nearly exactly alike. It's quite common.
