AUSTIN – Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a longtime Republican political figure and 2016 presidential hopeful, was indicted Friday by a Travis County grand jury following an investigation into whether he withheld millions of dollars from the office of the local district attorney, a Democrat.

Grand jurors charged Perry, 63, with abuse of official capacity, a first-degree felony, and coercion of a public official. Perry must now turn himself in to the Travis County Jail, where he will be booked, fingerprinted and and have his mug shot taken, according to KVUE-TV.

Thanx. I was gonna post this, but I couldn't find a link.

"He's abusing his power, let's impeach him!" Oh,wait, he's not Obama, he's a Republican and a white guy. Never mind...

(And if we don't reply to the thread, but post a lot of other BS, maybe it'll just go away, and nobody will notice.)

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

I wonder if Perry will be all primped and fluffed (oh wait - doesn't that have a pornographic connotation?) for his glamour shots.

Will he smile?

I wish I could remember who it was, but some politician was brightly smiling for his mug shots as if it was a photo op, like he'd been conditioned to reflexively 'smile for the camera'. It was very inappropriate and ... weird and ... creepy.

Oh yeah - Tom DeLay ...

And this is every politician's dream election poster.

I have to confess. If it's true this is like Christmas. I am sick of the way these guys constantly lie, slander and pretend they are holier than thou. This guy took the cake. I also want to give a shout out to the press who gives them a free pass. They scream about the freedom of the press because they are supposed to expose these guys. Fall flat is all they really do. The press needs to wake up.

The storys your whores in the MSM make a big deal out of, and the ones they under report are proof THEY ARE YOUR WHORES! The Gov of N.Y. shut down the commission that was looking into scandals that he said he'd stop, instead he is now apart of that scandal, this is what got Nixon into hot water. Where are the endless headlines and storys on the 24 hour cable news networks? YES! You Dems do it too, where are the endless storys? This may be why news paper sales are way down and MSNBC and CNN's ratings are in the can.

So you admit that Benghazi proves that FOX are a bunch of whores. That's a good first step: admitting you have a problem.

They're whores for covering an important story? At this same time when FOX was covering Benghazi, MSNBC was covering why Republicans were making a big deal about Bnghazi. MSNBC has made a bigger deal out of some traffic cones at the GWB then Benghazi, this is why their ratings suck. They over report crap no one cares about.

Sounds like this is a strong case of Prosecutorial Overreach and malfeasance. Same Travis County crooks that wasted money on Delay until he finally was found innocent.

So, Libtrard DA in charge of PUBLIC INTEGRITY OFFICE is arrested yet again for DUI, about 3 times the legal limit, and harassed cops, kicks cop car. She was also the top crony for Ronnie Earl when he had the job.
Perry says she should resign, she refuses to resign.
Perry announces he will VETO SPENDING LEGISLATION for the INTEGRITY office as long as she is there - which is his duty, and responsiblity to do, otherwise the law would not have given him that responsibility and duty. He does as he promised.
None of the facts were allowed into the Grand Jury, rigged by the Special Prosecutor who was appointed by libtard Dem ?Loggen? or whatever.
Even liberal professor Turley says this is a travesty and corruption of the Justice system.
What a joke of libtards.

Does a DUI arrest preclude one from holding elected office? If so, would you please tell George W. Bush that he was never governor or president?

Quote:

Perry announces he will VETO SPENDING LEGISLATION for the INTEGRITY office as long as she is there - which is his duty, and responsiblity to do, otherwise the law would not have given him that responsibility and duty. He does as he promised.

And that's where he committed a felony. The law says he can exercise his line-item veto as is his right under the Texas Constitution. But what he *can't* do is threaten to veto funding unless someone resigns, or unless he gets to appoint his personal cronies to certain positions. That falls under the abuse of power and coercion of an elected official umbrella, which is what he was indicted for.

Again, the prosecutor is a Republican, appointed by a Republican to run the case and present it to the grand jury. If you have any evidence to the contrary (that you didn't just pull out of the raptard's ass, I mean), then please present it.

Which part are you confused about?
Travis County?
Travis County Public Integrity Office?
Travis County Public Integrity Office self-appointing itself to investigate anybody throughout the state that it has a political agenda against?
Ronnie Earle's top lieutenant Lemburg, who was his successor?
Ronnie Earle prosecuting his crooked agenda of malfeasance against Delay?
Please specify which fact you are confused about. I realize this is a gargantuan list, but please limit your response to the focus of your query.

What are you confused about?
You didn't bother watching the video? Facts are too bothersome to you?
You dispute the fact she was Ronnie Earle's top lieutenant?
You should try to specify the focus of your confusion. The rest of us understand that your confusion knows no bounds, but if you could make clear and concise queries, we might be able to help educate you, if you are educable.

Does a DUI arrest preclude one from holding elected office?

Ever heard of no taxation without representation? This means she should not have Statewide jurisdiction without Statewide election, not just local election from which she appoints herself Public Integrity Officer for the entire State.
DUI arrest does not preclude one from holding elected office, but Gov Perry correctly points out that it and the accompanying cop abuse and distain and patrol car abuse does preclude one from holding total control over the Public Integrity Office, or controlling it's funds accrued from Statewide Taxpayers (who are without any representative election to provide Checks and Balances). It does not preclude her from getting the funds from her constituency which elected her, which Gov Perry clearly stated was the right of the taxpayers of her district.

Sure, in addition to all the other liberal lawyers clamoring that this is a case of serious injustice.
Geez, you really need to have your head stuck in the sand to not see the avalanche of libtards who OPPOSE this Travesty of justice.

Quote:

It seems that during Perry’s time as governor there have been two other District Attorneys who were convicted of DUI, but Perry didn’t push for them to resign.
In 2002, Swisher County District Attorney Terry McEachern was arrested in New Mexico after a family called into police reporting someone swerving into oncoming traffic and driving off the shoulder of the road.

Then in 2009, Kaufman County District Attorney Rick Harrison was arrested after driving the wrong way down a street and hitting another car. Oh, by the way, this incident was actually Harrison’s second DWI conviction.
Just in case you’re wondering, both of these men are Republicans and neither were investigating Perry’s office for corruption.

But it gets better. According to Progress Texas in 2011, former Republican state representative Jim Stick was convicted of drunk driving. Since that conviction he’s been appointed as chief legal council for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

So we have four different individuals who were convicted of driving drunk while Rick Perry has been governor. Three of those individuals were Republicans, one was a Democrat. Two of the three Republicans were District Attorneys who weren’t asked to resign by Rick Perry. While the third was actually allowed to take a prominent legal position within a state agency.

But when it came to the fourth, the Democrat investigating Rick Perry for corruption, he used threats and blackmail to try to force her to resign from her position so that he could personally choose her replacement.
For someone to look at this information and not see that Perry clearly had political motives behind his actions towards Lehmberg is either incredibly naive or just flat-out lying.

There’s no way Perry can rationally go into a courtroom and make a case as to why he felt Lehmberg should have been removed from her position when he clearly had no problem with these other two Republican District Attorneys staying in office following their DUI convictions.

In my opinion, it’s clearly obvious what happened here. Rosemary Lehmberg was investigating Perry’s office on possible corruption charges. Then following her DUI conviction, Perry saw an opportunity to get rid of her. So he used his position as governor to try to intimidate, threaten and blackmail Ms. Lehmberg into resigning, because if she resigned, he would have been able to choose her replacement.

Because nothing at all sounds corrupt about a governor using their power to try to force the resignation of someone investigating his office for corruption, knowing that he would be able to personally handpick whomever would take over the investigation.

Na, that doesn’t sound corrupt at all.
