A jury has reached a verdict in the corruption trial of former Virginia governor Bob McDonnell and his wife Maureen.

Both McDonnells were found guilty on the majority of the 14 criminal charges they were faced with. The ex-governor was convicted on 11 counts, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and his wife was found guilty on eight counts. Maureen McDonnell was also convicted of obstruction of an official proceeding.

I think Whozit would add something here about "laughing at your pain."

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

McDonnell was facing 13 counts in all, and though it’s obviously small consolation, he was found not guilty on two of them. That said, the former Republican governor was convicted of 11 counts, including charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to obtain property to which he was not entitled.

RICHMOND — A federal jury Thursday found former Virginia governor Robert F. McDonnell and his wife, Maureen, guilty of public corruption — sending a message that they believed the couple sold the office once occupied by Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson to a free spending Richmond businessman for golf outings, lavish vacations and $120,000 in sweetheart loans.

Wasn't it WHOZIT who was doing something unnatural with bagels? Or was that someone else?

Looks like Governor Ultrasound is going to be getting a whole lot of probing of a different kind!

And I can't help but notice how Whozit cares so little that he replied TWICE. If he cared any less, he'd have posted this story before I did.

And it should be noted that the FBI is investigating the Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann 2012 campaigns as well.

Look for this one to spread to Mitch McConnell's campaign, too.

Awful lot of crickets coming from the right on this one.

STORYMARK

Interesting. Someone on the left is convicted, and those here on the left applaud the system for working. Someone on the right gets convicted, and the righties fall utterly silent, or in zitboys case, scream about how he doesn't care about corruption.

Not that anyone is surprised.
