TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - The head of Iran's security council said Tuesday the re-election of President George W. Bush would be in Tehran's best interests, despite the administration's axis of evil label, accusations Iran harbours al-Qaida terrorists and threats of sanctions over the country's nuclear ambitions.

Historically, Democrats have harmed Iran more than Republicans, said Hasan Rowhani, head of the Supreme National Security Council, Iran's top security decision-making body.

So obviously, based on this endorsement I should vote for Kerry!

Probably needs to buy more arms. Anyone want to speculate on the CIA sponsored group that's likely to benefit?

*sigh*

As I mentioned in Anarko's thread ( http://www.fireflyfans.net/thread.asp?b=18&t=7604), no. In my opinion, you should vote based upon an understanding of the issues and the candidates, not based upon who is supporting them. If you agree with Bush's positions, vote for him. If not, don't.

(Now, I'll readily admit that I think that the past four years have been some of the worst for our country, and we need to get rid of Bush. Do I think that Kerry is the best person for the role? I don't know, but I do know that, due to our two-party system, he's the only other viable candidate, and I am willing to risk the unknown of Kerry to the known of Bush.)

GHOULMAN

lol!

Of course, the sad thing about Iran is that, after 9/11 they gave the USA great sympathy, showing a trend in Iran where student protests and a new government (Ayatollah though it is) began to lean towards a moderate Islamic state. That, my friends, is step one towards a more democratic society.

Of course, the GWB White House criminalized Iran in the "Axis of Evil" speech.

Rabit, my conclusion was in response to "Communists Support Kerry" and was entirely tongue in cheek. Sorry for the confusion, but this news item was just too surreal to pass up!

Don't the Iranian government have a history of collaborating with the GOP immediately prior to US elections?

Well... That depends on what you consider "collaborating". I mean know one can prove that Reagan's folks had anything to do with the fact that the Iranians wouldn't release the hostages, making Carter look all manner of stupid...

GEEZER

Keep the Shiny side up

I bet Mr. Rowhani is upset that the little symbol at the end of his remarks got edited out by AP.

"Keep the Shiny side up"
