America loves a winner!

This was the story on Oct. 7th, following the Gator's hard fought road victory over Tennessee.

Quote:

The Florida Gators are going to have to do without their freshman backup quarterback for a while.

Treon Harris has been suspended indefinitely following a sexual assault allegation brought by a female student. The woman told University of Florida Police Harris attacked her Sunday morning in a campus residence hall, according to ESPN.

“We have no tolerance for sexual assault on our campus,” UF President Bernie Machen was quoted by WTXL as saying.

Although a freshman backup, Harris is credited with helping deliver the team’s victory against the Tennessee Volunteers last week. He took over for Jeff Driskel to provide a 10-9 win over the team.

Harris is the second Florida college quarterback suspended this season amid allegations of wrongdoing related to women. Florida State’s Jameis Winston was benched for the team’s game against Clemson after he was accused of making an “offensive and vulgar” statement against women.

And now today...

Woman withdraws sexual assault claim against Treon Harris

A University of Florida female student who accused Gators quarterback Treon Harris of sexual assault has withdrawn the claim, ESPN.com’s Jeff Barlis reported Friday.

Florida suspended Harris on Monday when an investigation into an alleged sexual assault was started by police.

“The young lady who claimed that Treon Harris sexually battered her has withdrawn her complaint,” Harris’ attorney, Huntley Johnson, told ESPN.com. “I am pleased for Treon Harris and his family.”

Harris relieved Jeff Driskel in last week’s game at Tennessee and rallied the Gators to a 10-9 victory. He ran four times for 24 yards and completed 2 of 4 passes for 17 yards.

And in totally unrelated claims of sexual assault...

After Amanda Bynes spent Friday morning tweeting detailed sexual assault accusations of her father on Twitter, the troubled actress has now seemingly recanted those statements with a tweet.

"My dad never did any of those things," she tweeted this afternoon. "The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he's the one that ordered them to microchip me."

Can he play for the Duke LaCrosse team now? Did she get enough money? Or did she forget she was not in Indiana, where the real extortion money is?

What really baffles me is the part where it says she retains the right to bring up the claim AGAIN, if she chooses to !

WTF ?

Why isn't she being cited for filing a false complaint ? And what's this crap about " yes, no, maybe " I was attacked, I'll let you know later on, or maybe I won't ?

When did our system ever work like that ?

Of course, it's easy to speculate that she was paid off, and if she feels the amount wasn't sufficient enough, she'll ask for more $, or claim assault, again.

I think she's a cleat chaser, and didn't feel like being ignored the next morning, and decided to get all Fatal Attraction on the kid.

WTF indeed! Although she's not "officially" a gold-digging slut until she retains Gloria Allred as counsel.

The Amanda Bynes things is sad. I like the kid. I saw her on HBO in a movie where she went to England to find her dad. It was very entertaining. This week her parents had her locked up in the hospital psych ward against her will. She has 72 hours to behave like a normal person or they will keep her in there.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

It looks to me like Florida is a state where one can withdraw a complaint. In other states if there is any evidence the state files the complaint - it's not up to the person whether or not it gets filed and it can't be withdrawn. I suspect a representative of the player made it worth her while to withdraw the complaint. Which makes me think it's valid. Because if it wasn't they'd be willing to let it go to court.

Sometimes you own the libs. Sometimes, the libs own you.

Am I right in thinking that none of us know what actually happened in this case? That the woman may, indeed, have been assaulted?

There can be a whole host of reasons why a woman might drop a sexual assault charge:

* fear of being disbelieved/called a liar
* fear of being hated for 'ruining the life of a promising athlete'
* fear of her sexual history being dragged into the courtroom/the national press
* not enough evidence to secure a conviction
* conflicting feelings about her attacker - maybe he was a friend, who she doesn't want to go to prison and have his life ruined, etc. etc.

I personally think the idea that she made all this up for some kind of attention/petty revenge is one of the less likely explanations.

It's not personal. It's just war.

I think you just like using the phrase "cleat chaser."

Withdrawing a complaint doesn't mean it didn't happen (Amanda Bynes wtf?).

I never heard the term " cleat chaser " before the fsu QB Jameis Winston case. Sometimes the term applies. Where it gets complicated is that some young women like being seen in the company of famous people ( athletes ) while not necessarily wanting to go to bed with them. But to a spoiled, horny and entitled minded teenage athlete, " no " might not register too clearly.

Think Ms Bynes is telling the truth ? Or is she just full nuts & wanting attention?

What a sad fall for her. Hate to see it.

I think it is called feminism. Wimmyn are not capable of making up their minds, they are incompetent at portraying adult behavior, so they cannot determine whether they are being raped - err, Imean sexually assaulted - at the time of the incident or immediately following, but you, the courter must wait for days, months, or essentially indefinitely for her to make up her mind about whether she really wanted you when she jumped your bone.
Been going on like that for decades. You haven't read the news for that long?

Yeah.
Right.
Shirley.
Because there would be no down side, so you think that only the guilty want quick resolution. You are such a brilliant genius.
Obviously there would be no downside to dragging this on, through the season of the sport the athlete plays, costing gobs of contract or bidding dollars, instead of just paying her to keep her lies to herself.
You probably think you are actually being reasonable, right?
I think since you are without sin, you should be pulled over by the cops anytime you are on the road, and sent straight to jail if you don't submit to random car searches (AKA drug plantings). Since you are not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to hide and it is OK for you to be assumed guilty until proven innocent.

WE don't call it slapping, that is not politically correct terminology. It is called a tune-up. Until the ringing in her head is the right frequency, then she is in tune.

Seems Jameis has more issues on the horizon.

It appears that Jameis Winston has hundreds of items with his signature on them which are for sale. Being sold by the same company that's done business with University of Georgia football player Todd Gurley, who is currently suspended for accepting $ for , you guessed it, signed sports gear.

It's against NCAA rules for a player to benefit financially through such means as selling signed items while they still have eligibility.

Sports Illustrated has even come out and suggested that Jameis Winston avoid the looming trouble and just drop out of school altogether.

Are you saying Winston and Gurley failed to provide a big enough cut for the NCAA official?
