It's Official (Finally): The US Is No Longer The World's #1 Economy
Submitted by zerohedge on 12/06/2014 11:32 -0500

It seems rather appropriate that just seven days after the US government hit a whopping $18 trillion in debt, mainstream financial media has picked up the IMF’s recent World Economic Outlook report http://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/weo/2014/update/02/, which puts the US economy as #2 in the world.

There’s no shortage of ostriches out there who come up with every reason in the world why this doesn’t matter.

They say, ‘oh the IMF is just reporting purchasing power parity.’ Or, ‘oh it’s the per capita GDP that it counts.’

But the obvious truth is that the US is in decline. And it’s being overtaken.

(read more at the link above)

So, the US is on a multi-decade slide, while China is on a multi-decade surge.

America loves a winner!

Obama must be so proud. His mission to destroy this country is working perfectly.

It stands to reason countries like India and China will overtake the US in terms of economy size, given their populations.

Certainly, China now impacts our economy in a way that was just not as significant 15 years ago.

Because Obama was president in 1960, when the slide started? Do you realize what a twat you look like with your posts?

SAGAN: We are releasing vast quantities of carbon dioxide, increasing the greenhouse effect. It may not take much to destabilize the Earth's climate, to convert this heaven, our only home in the cosmos, into a kind of hell.

Magons

I don't think it's all that inevitable. India and China started out very similarly - they were both ex-colonies, with similar population sizes. But India is now 10th - or 11th - on the world scale (depending on whose data you use), while China is now 1st. So China did something that India did not.

China's turnaround started midway through the Cultural Revolution. I suspect it was their aggressive industrialization and education policies that improved productivity, as well as their one-child policy and shallow economic hierarchy (which meant their resources were returned into the economy rather than going to support an increasing population or stagnating as profit), that made it happen.

India OTOH did none of those, and look where it is today.

If you would learn to read a graph, you might be able to see a few things.

A "Slide" began under Truman (Democrat), then was held level under Ike's economy (Republican). Then fell again under JFK and LBJ (Democrats), and started to rise again under Nixon/Ford (Republicans). Then dropped again under Carter's disasterous economy. (obviously Democrat)
Then, gain a bit and held steady by Reagan and Bush41 (Republicans).
Notice that intersection occurred a few years ago, as most news reported. The graph shows that, following FDR's War production, and subsequent Cold War, we are now approaching the levels of Pre-WWII. Some libtards had hailed this as "The Peace Dividend" they craved so much.

Peaked in 1953 when Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower (republican) took office, then slid through the rest of his presidency (1961). It continued to slide through Kennedy (democrat) (1961 - 1963) but leveled off with Jonson's presidency (democrat) (1963 - 1969). It dropped 1969 - 1979, which was Nixon (republican) (1969 - 1974), and Ford (republican) (1974 - 1977). It came up in 1980 during Carter's term of office (democrat) (1977 - 1981), then dropped some after 1981, and wobbled around a bit in that range through 1998 under Reagan (republican) (1981 - 1989; and GHW Bush (republican) (1989 - 1993), peaked dramatically in 2000 during Bill Clinton (democrat) (1993 - 2001), then dropped like a rock under dumbya (republican - what else?).

If you're going to lie, at least do it where you can't be so easily refuted like the dumb shit you are - OK?

You must be looking at a different graph than what you posted. Where is the graph you are looking at?
