My money was on Andy, the Golden Retriever. Sure, GR's get alot of good press, so they didn't "need" a win. I think Rufus was a fine speciman and all, but he's just not the kind of dog I'd take home to meet River, my lab-mix little puppy (who can sit, and shake, and 'go to bed', and only had one accident in the house yesterday).

Lets face it the whole dog show circuit is political. Bull terriers are well know 'liberal' breeds. I think they showed distinct bias overlooked the obvious 'all American' qualities demonstrated by the Golden Retriever. And for certain member of this board (looks at PirateJenny) there are credible reports of Howard Dean engaging in interspecies petophilia with puppies during a visit to a Vermont puppy mill in 1985 (there is no proof because I'm making it up, but thats never really been important to you before).

Cheney acted in self defense. The CIA reported back during the Clinton Administration about Iran's biological weapons program to take quail, ducks, turkeys, and other 'game' birds and train them to become suicide bombers. Cheney was shooting at a Iranian bird when he accidently hit his friend. Sad? Yes. But I think we all can agree that if Clinton had acted on this years ago all of these problems could have been avoided. As for not telling the press corps till later, Clinton did the same thing when he had that guy murdered in the White House and dumped in a DC park.

So what have we learned?
1. The Golden Retriever got robbed.
2. Howard Dean REALLY likes puppies.
3. Bill Clinton caused Cheney's accident.
4. Iran should be invaded.
5. A good topic is hard to find.
