America loves a winner!

And by 'honored', I mean more than naming him recipient of an annual medal or some such. I ask this because of some feathers which were ruffled over another thread, which someone else posted. My acknowledgement in that thread of another President who was honored by a former Soviet block country in Europe seems to have upset some. Why, I cannot say, but that's not really the point.

Just a curious inquiry, 'tis all.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

From Wikipedia:

"In Europe, Bill Clinton remains immensely popular, especially in a large part of the Balkans and in Ireland. In Priština, Kosovo, a five-story picture of the former president was permanently engraved into the side of the tallest building in the province as a token of gratitude for Clinton's support during the crisis in Kosovo.[28]

On December 3, 2006, Clinton was made an honorary chief and Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu by Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea Michael Somare. Clinton was awarded the honor for his "outstanding leadership for the good of mankind during two terms as US president" and his commitment to the global fight against HIV/AIDS and other health challenges in developing countries.

Of *course* Cuba's gonna honor Clinton, after all, he is the guy who almost singlehandedly brought cigar smoking back into the consciousness of the american public !

Of course, what that says about the american public consciousness is something I really didn't need to know.

I'll say one thing for Clinton. He helped a peace process in the world (Namely Northern Ireland) and made the world a safer place. Can't say that for many other US Presidents.

It's a tactic that they use - go after personality - because it's what works on them.

Something the authoritarian followers of the right have never understood is that we don't hold our leaders in the position of godhead that they do. Make fun of Teddy Kennedy? We shrug. You make fun of Ronald Reagan? They go apoplectic.

Hmmm, interesting, thanks Soup.

More insane ramblings by the people who brought you beeeer milkshakes!

We love him here in Northern Ireland, one of the few politicians that actually gave a damn about us. And he really pushed the peace process along. I shook his hand at a book signing in Belfast, it was quite the experience.

Bill has an honourary degree from the University of Ulster btw.

Hmmm. Somehow I'm guessing these are not the type of answers Troll'A'Raptor was hoping for.
