About.com says "Although Barack Obama has said that he supports civil unions, he is against gay marriage. "

And yet, while on Ellen's (DeGeneres ) Show, Joe Biden boldy stated that neither he or Barack would support Proposition 8 in California.

Prop 8, as presented by Wikipedia reads as follows:

If passed, the proposition would "change the California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in California."[3] A new section would be added stating "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."

is it a push against Bush junior?

My thinking is they are pro-equal rights but do not want the dictionary definition of marriage changed, saying it should not be something a government should force on people but should be left to the state level unlike Lady Laura who thinks these gays are shocking and disgusting sinners.
If people want to move to a state where people in the state are all liberal, and all unions, and all gay loving then let them.
If people want to live in some Southern, anti-gay, where the bible thumping and gun lovers live then let them be.
