Keep the Shiny side up

It was tough today.

I walked into my polling place, walked up to the table, checked in, and then had to decide - paper or electronic. We had the option of using paper ballots or the touchscreen machines. Since the line for paper ballots was 5 people long and there was a machine free, I went with the touchscreen.

My second problem was when I wanted to write-in for Representative. The write-in screen looks like a keyboard, but it's not QWERTY. Just A thru Z in order and then punctuation. The space bar's not even at the bottom, but on the right side. Took quite a while to peck out NONE OF THE ABOVE.

Heck, I wasted five whole minutes of my life on this crap. What a burden. Did I mention it was raining? (well, drizzling, actually)

It sounds like you didn't have to stand in a queue for hours, so it could've been worse!

It's good that they gave you a choice between paper and electronic, this way those who are skeptical about using the machines won't be forced to do so.

America loves a winner!

Got to the parking lot of a local church at 5:30 am. There was 1 guy already there, sitting beneath a street lamp. As 6 o'clock neared, a few more cars showed up. At around 6:00, I wandered over to the entrance. 2 other folks had snuck in and formed a line, making me 4th. I was cool w/ that. And elderly gentleman showed up a bit after 6 and let us go inside to sit. We filled out a sheet w/ the date and our names/ address on it, and sat. Folks came filing in, and we were nearly out of seats by 7 a.m. I'm guessing there were some 50-60 seats inside. Polls opened, we lined up as we had outside, me being 4th , and proceeded to go through the routine.

There was a hitch w/ the very first voter. Something wrong w/ the screen, they didn't find him listed. 3rd person in line was held up because the lady was looking up the wrong name. First name last, she ( the poll worker ) had reversed the name, thus couldn't find the voter listed.

Great.

A few minutes passed, both issues resolved, I got my e-card and went to vote. Page after page of judges needed to be voted on, most of them unopposed. I didn't vote for any judges. After a quick review, i was done. Got my 'I voted ' sticker and was out the door. It was 7:18 when i got to my truck.

Yay me.

It is not those who use the term "Islamo-Fascism" who are sullying the name of Islam; it is the Islamo-Fascists. - Dennis Prager
