Wow.

And of course, there is rock-solid proof that Clinton committed this rape, right Rappy?

Wow.

Ted Kennedy was a 37 yr old Senator, who was both married and drunk at the time, while driving Mary Jo Kopechne ( not his wife ) to where, no one knows for certain.

Supreme Judicial Court ordered the inquest be conducted in secret. Judge James A. Boyle presided over the inquest. His conclusions were as follows:

"Kopechne and Kennedy did not intend to return to Edgartown" at the time they left the party.
"Kennedy did not intend to drive to the ferry slip".
"[Kennedy]'s turn onto Dike Road was intentional".
Judge Boyle also said that "negligent driving appears to have contributed to the death of Mary Jo Kopechne".

Under Massachusetts law, Boyle could have ordered Kennedy's arrest, but he chose not to do so. District Attorney Dinis chose not to pursue Kennedy for manslaughter.

Young Laura Welch ( Bush ) was 17 at the time, not drinking and failed to notice a stop sign on the road she was traveling. Best accounts are that she was traveling under the posted speed limit for that stretch of road. No charges were filed.

Rap, perhaps more to the point was that Mary Jo likely survived the auto accident - no fatal injuries were inflicted. However, Teddy waiting for 12 hours while the car sank and she DROWNED unconscious while he tried to cover his a$$ is the creepy thing about it - and most negligent.

1) That's "alleged" rape. So far, I've seen no evidence whatsoever, only a 30-year-old allegation.

2) And yes, dying in an auto accident might actually be worse than surviving a rape.

I'd like to see him behind bars along with more than half of Congress and a bunch of people in the Alphabet Agencies and CEO's of the companies we're bailing out too.

Bill "raping" a girl doesn't even come close to that though. If you didn't convince me that Kobe Bryant did it, you'd have a much harder time convincing me that an ex-president did.

Of course, I'm not convinced that either of them didn't rape either.

I did the side by side comparison to show that Laura was young, inexperienced and that there was no negligence on her part. There very well could have been on Teddy's, only his status and family name saved his skin at the time. Teddy left the scene of a crime, failed to report it for over 1/2 day, and also spun a tale of having swam across a body of water which would have challenged any fit swimmer , but some how a drunken ( alleged ) 37 yr old Senator just in a car accident managed to do, in the dark of night.....far from believable.

One year ago, TBS ran a documantry piece called simply "Chappaquiddick" that laid out all evidence and proposed the most interesting and plausable truth of the incident. It's the one I believe and it's never even talked about. The evidence of record is:
1. Ted was at a party the night before with Mary Jo Kopechne, a previous staffer for Robert Kennedy, who was now going to work for his senate office.
2. They left together at 11pm so he could "take her to the ferry"
3. A patrol officer reported seeing a car matching Kennedy's vehicle sitting on a side road around 11:20pm. It took off quickly after being spotted. The officer did not pursue.
4. Ted entered his hotel at around 2:00am. He was not soaking wet. He was totally dry. Ted acted like nothing was amiss to the clerk on staff and went to bed.
5. He was up in the morning still acting like nothing was wrong. He joked and lauged with others about unrelated stuff.
6. Witnesses claim that 2 male friends of Ted's came to him frantically around 11am and pulled him into an empty dinning room of the hotel. When he emerged he was visibly shaken and unwilling to talk to anyone anymore.

The documentary proposes that this is how things went down:
1. Ted got drunk with Mary Jo and left the party. They parked and stated having sex.
2. Ted spotted the patrol car and got spooked. He was certain he'd been seen in the act. In the 60's, being married and caught like this would be a 100% policial disaster for him. He jumped behind the wheel and took off.
3. Still afraid that the cop was going to double back he pulled over and told Mary Jo to drive the car back to Edgartown since it was near to where she was already going. He'd deal with retreving the vehicle later. Keep in mind they're both drunk as they plot this idiotic escapade. Ted would rather Mary Jo get caught driving alone than have him in the vehicle at all.
4. As Ted walks the 3 hours back to his hotel, Mary Jo DUI's the car off Chappaquiddick bridge and dies. Ted walks into his hotel later unknowing and goes to bed.
5. The car is discovered at 10am and friends run to find him.
6. By the time Ted knows whats up, so do cops and press. Early foolish statements by him and friends set the course for future lies to cover up the truth of what happened. This is why things are spooky to people, the story as told just doesn't make sense.

The rest of the tale...him diving repeadly to find her, him in shock and in a daze going to bed, him swimming a quarter mile...it's all Go-se. Lawyers made it up to make him look like some sort of quasi-hero to the stupid Massachusetts voting public. In 39 years voters never questioned it. Ted is not a hero. Ted is a liar. He made mistakes in various conflicting statements that morning before the Kennedy legal team could mobilize to tell him to shut up. Once silent, they pulled together all of his lies and then spun a complacted tale of woe in order to save his political career. In the end he made the choice to accept the charges of leaving an accident scene and failing to report it (both of which didn't happen because he WAS NEVER THERE!) rather that allow the public to learn that he was cheating on his wife. Inidentally, his first wife later left him in 1982 over infedelity issues, so it's not like Teddy learned a lesson anyway.

The patrol officer also later recanted his statement that he saw their car at 11:20pm, after coersion from higher officials who had been influenced by the Kennedy family. This fact continues to go unreported.

Basically, Ted is guilty if being a stupid drunk, unfaithful to his wife, and a liar. A case could also be made that he's guilty of involuntary manslaughter since he knowingly coerced a drunk Mary Jo to drive a car which led ultimately to her death. He did all these things out of pure selfishness and then used his family's influence to bury the issue.

I have always felt so sorry for Mary Jo Kopechne, a 28 year-old staffer who gave her life to save the reputation of a lying, drunken, selfish man who didn't deserve it.

Do not fear me. Our's is a peaceful race and we must live in harmony.

I think the damage done by the Bush administration is criminal. But they wouldn't be the first gang in DC to have 'trashed the hotel' as it were.

I don't really see the point in prosecuting them though. As long as people keep voting with their eyes closed, they're getting what they deserve.

Just cause no one else seems to have noticed...

Err, Y'all *DO* know that the Detroit "News" and the "Free" Press are two of the most unabashedly right wing, neo imperialist, anti union, pro corporate, mighty whitey, ultra conservative bastard papers around, right ?

I do distinctly recall mentioning that all four of the primary political commentators are hard right as well, yes ?

And there WERE formerly part of the bush can do no wrong crowd too, cheerleaders and apologists to the core - I mean these folk even supported DeVos till it became clear just what effect supporting a stupid, incompetent, malicious and greedy *local governor* would do to our already struggling economy, especially given the endless downright sabotage thereof at every turn and corner by republicans here (See Also: Fake budget crisis/shutdown) who wanna burn down the state if they can't have it...

And in spite of alllll that....

Now the Freep is calling for impeachment ?!!

That's mind blowing, who's next, Ann Clueless ?

Of course, now it's politically *safe* to make that call, and so all the cowardly, gutless little rats who went along to get along are gonna do it now to distance themselves from the wreck they helped create, and especially the consequences of it.

You watch - you'll see I am once again right.

As I consider it, how silly and foolish to continue to demand impeachment. What's the point?

The situation is actually quite similar to the near-impeachment of Andrew Johnson, a man who was the blathering idiot "decider" of his day...and yet the reasons for his impeachment hearings were equally stupid.

Quote:

As I consider it, how silly and foolish to continue to demand impeachment. What's the point?

The point being that, every time we've let these people, regardless of party*, get away with it, they've simply slunk to the sidelines to do it AGAIN as soon as the memories of their misdeeds have faded.

I'll never forgive Ford for pardoning Nixon and his cronies, just how badly that's come back to haunt us ever since is incalculable.

If you trace it back, through the years and time, resources and effort wasted trying to mitigate the damage, or bring these folks to heel, you'll see the same names, the same little collectives, pop up over, and over, and over again.

The first time serious Neo-Feudo-Fascism reared it's head proper was about 1905, prolly existed before than, to some degree in some form or another all the way back to Adams and the Hamiltonian Federalists, but that was when it became really noticeable historically, and then Wilson, and the first red scare, cooked up by the same types, to the Business Plot, all the way down through McCarthy and the second red scare followed by NORTHWOODS, LBJ, then Nixon, and through to REX84 and finally the Patriot Act, and so on - it's the same goddamn tune, don't you see ?

And it's ALWAYS the same people, the same dynasties, Kennedy was far from the idealised figure his death made him, Bush and his family have a similar "history" including being implicated in the Business Plot and improper dealings with ole Adolph and his empire, although they were far from alone in that at the time.

And it's not like their behavior ever changes, for example, every single time (long before the plame case) Lewis "Scooter" Libby was given access to confidential data, he more or less *immediately* started leaking it to a foreign power I consider "hostile" - he went three for three on that before the plame case blew up on him and finally put his ass where it belonged, and one would hope, out of politics, though that is unlikely when we keep giving them second and third chances to stick it to us.

This isn't about Bush, so much, in fact I rather doubt he's even *aware* of half the bullshit folks in his administration have pulled, but unfortunately he is the bottleneck in between those people and prosecution, and he *IS* responsible for that negligence in NOT knowing, cause it's his freakin job to know these things.

Now, if it's brought to his attention in a major way like that and he assists in the prosecution of those folk, I might give him a pass although I cannot respect the man, but if he chooses to actively protect them once it comes clear what they have done, he can sink with them, far as I am concerned.

The process of impeachment, initially, is whether or not the man was aware of and in any way responsible for this conduct - were it to proceed and the nation find out he was not a direct participant, it would clear his name of malice although not negligence, and likely lead to the prosecution of the correct people provided we could keep a strong leash on folks tendancy to use such as a political weapon.

So yes, I do think we should proceed with impeachment, not because I think he, personally is all that involved with the misconduct, but because it would potentially reveal who was and exactly who is responsible for what so they CAN be prosecuted.

Cause if we fail to do this, those bastards will be back, never you doubt it.

-Frem

*- I say regardless of party cause the folks in particular I am speaking of do what they do regardless of such, it shows when you take the long view through multiple administrations, both Republican and Democrat, the current PNAC-NeoCon jerks actually cooked their original plans in the office of Scoop Jackson, a Democrat, and sought to retroactively classify much of the archives related to him in order to hide that.

A bit tedious to continue to see attempts of respinning history. Might have been amusing the first thousand times, but come onnnnn.

Andrew Johnson was Impeached. He was not nearly-impeached. The first of 3 Impeachments in U.S. history, and one of only 2 POTUS to be Impeached. Of course, not as impressive as Slick, being the only President Impeached twice. The successor to Hannibal was not a blathering idiot of his day. He was impeached for political reasons, and important precedence was set, continuing to this day. Completely different, and quite UNsimilar to Slick being Impeached for actually commiting Felony crimes - and knowingly doing so. Some do contend that for a sitting President to commit Perjury is actually a Constitutional Crime rather than merely a Felony crime.
After the 17th President's time, at the transition of every administration - even within the same party - every Cabinet Secretary submits their Letter of Resignation to the new (or renewed) Commander-in-Chief. This Impeachment made an important change in Exectutive Branch procedure. Seward did not think it stupid, nor did Johnson - which is why neither backed down. Thankfully Johnson was found to be right. The Cabinet Secretaries who thought they should govern over the President were instead informed that they are to serve under the President.
Slick's conduct, denials, Impeachments, and excuses changed nothing. Presidents have never been authorized to commit Perjury (under Oath) and are still not allowed to commit Perjury. Perhaps no other POTUS will do it in such clear-cut fashion, but they have no Consitutional authority to commit Perjury anyway.
Face it, your hero is a disgrace and a crook, incomparable to any other President (even Carter didn't get Impeached), so Deal With It.
Unless you count his other historic achievement - the record number of Assasination attempts, exceeding the accumulated totals of all previous attempts in U.S. history. That is fairly impressive. But maybe not enough to withstand the next 4 years.

No, y'all are just petty, whiny losers who still can't get over 2000, and instead of accepting it and moving on, you want some body to " make things right " by impeaching W. Never mind he's done nothing criminal, you just want to humiliate him and make him pay for being President.

Twice.

Let's move on for Gawd's sake, 8 years is enough stink - you think this would be a *pretty* impeachment? Anyone think it would be quick? We got nothing else to keep Congress busy with? 60 days from his disappearing and people are just talking about it? Where were they all the other 2800 days? People really want to prolong his legacy even if it's just to tarnish it more? Let's focus forward, toward all the important sh*t that affects everyone. Punishing bad (outrageous) behavior now is too late - let's set new standards so future administrations will have better examples to follow.

So that the folks we let slide can sneak in again and bend them into weapons with which to exploit the people ?

How many times do we have to take this beating before we learn ?

Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the very definition of insanity.

It cannot be said enough, those who do not learn from history, are doomed to endlessly repeat it

Heh - it's ironic, you have more faith in human nature than I do. I don't think you can teach these kinds of people anything no matter what you do to them after the fact. Others like them, viewing the pain from a distance, they don't care, "not me."

If we go ahead with impeachment proceedings it's a near endless witch hunt, and that brings out the worst in people. Clinton, what a fiasco. It will polarize both parties even more and that's the last thing we need right now, not to mention that it will hog the "news" spotlight and distract us from the hole we're standing in.

I just love this. Every time I ask that question, the Lefties balk and cower away, failing to answer the simplest of questions.
Give answer & examples, then recieve:
Care to offer up some specifics ? Or is this just another in the long , long, pointless list of endless negative hyperbole by the Left ?
Explain points logically & get hit with:
the Left is just filled w/ hate and rage, and there's nothing of substance
Learn not to waste time responding in detail.
