REAL WORLD EVENT DISCUSSIONS
Republican Bullshit

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.
Quote:"While it is encouraging that the president-elect has stated his office will disclose contacts with the scandal-ridden governor, it remains disappointing that his actions are in response to political pressure," Republican National Committee Chairman Robert M. "Mike" Duncan said. "Americans expect the highest degree of transparency from their elected leaders, rather than promises of openness on the campaign trail."
Quote:The White House on Friday defended Vice President Dick Cheney's decision not to cooperate with a government office charged with safeguarding national security information — and denied that Cheney ever suggested the agency be shut down.
Quote:Bush, Cheney ordered Secret Service to keep visitor logs under wraps WASHINGTON — A newly disclosed effort to keep Vice President Dick Cheney's visitor records secret is the latest White House push to make sure the public doesn't learn who has been meeting with top officials in the Bush administration.
Quote:Think, for example, about the fate of official records. Will they be removed or shredded to further obscure this administration’s doings? Nourished on secrecy from its inception, and carefully concealing many of its activities through the years, the Bush administration may be determined to make one last play for secrecy by taking its records and storing them in a Dallas warehouse, pending a Bush library. In these waning weeks, a group of us is locked in legal combat with Vice President Dick Cheney and his corps of unseen advisers, seeking an injunction to prevent them from leaving office with their e-mail records.
Quote:WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush, moving toward a constitutional showdown with Congress, asserted executive privilege Thursday and rejected lawmakers' demands for documents that could shed light on the firings of federal prosecutors.

Quote:Originally posted by whozit: That was then, this is now. Bush and his administration will soon be history, but Barry and the boys (and girls ) are just getting started. Barry's fillty whores in the press are still doing there best to cover his ass, but Barry is from one of the slimmiest places (politicaly) on the planet. With the Republicans out of power, and whorehouses (newspapers) going out of buisiness, you libs better learn to play defence real fast. Soon your own bitches in the press are going to turn on you to save there own reps. I'm going to microwave a bagel and have sex with it - Peter Griffin

Quote:And what will you say if Rahm himself in on those tapes? At the very least, that's problematic for the new Chief of Staff.
Quote: WASHINGTON — People who have been briefed on the Illinois governor corruption investigation say Barack Obama chief of staff Rahm Emanuel is not a target of the probe. Emanuel, a Chicago congressman who would have been a likely contact between the Obama transition office and Gov. Rod Blagojevich, has been a focus of media attention since Obama said Thursday he has asked for an internal review of contacts between his staff and Blagojevich. Emanuel has been refusing to answer questions about whether he's the "president-elect adviser" referred to in the criminal complaint that accuses Blagojevich of putting Obama's Senate seat up for sale. The complaint does not say that Blagojevich ever spoke to the unidentified Obama adviser about the Senate seat.

Quote:Originally posted by SignyM: Quote:Sure I'm bitter, Republicans took a bath this year.Okay, Whozit... but WHY did Republicans take a bath this year? Nearly all Americans looking to any administration for two things: to keep them, and their standard of living, safe. Once the fright of 9-11 died down (It shouldn't because terrorists are still targeting the USA, but that's another story.) and Iraq was determined not to have been the big bad boogeyman, attention inevitably turned to standard of living. The promise of "trickle down" capitalism is that the benefits of having a wealthy uberclass will eventually... er... trickle down. That didn't happen. The rich got a boatload richer, the middle class was buoyed up by housing speculation, and the poor got poorer. But the housing bubble burst and the slow decline that most people experienced over the past eight years turned into free-fall. In addition, a lot of Republicans were disappointed in their own party: neither religious enough for the evangelicals nor fiscally conservative enough for the small-government Republicans, the current administration lost much of its own base. It would be nice if you could get past this "my team versus your team" approach and look at what's good for the entire nation. --------------------------------- Let's party like its 1929.

Quote:OK, but I could say everything was niffty before the Democrats took control of the House & Senate in 04, but that is now water under the bridge. Next year Barry and his whores in the press will say that Barry inherited this mess, (it is true) but if he does'nt fix ASAP the honeymoon will be over sooner than you think. When the real attacks on Barry begin you'll say "unfair", I'll say "paybacks a bitch".
