FREMDFIRMA

Not surprising, given what stoplossing and no leave can do to a reservists career, marriage and personal life.

Although I gotta point out that this is a command level failure, as it is a commanders job to see to the health of his troops, both physical and mental.

It's really in the same league as letting an infectious disease run loose on your watch, but the thickheaded morons can't *see* a pysch problem, and due to the way the army "handles" it (malicious abuse, encouraging others to mock, accusations of faking it...) most soldiers ain't gonna freakin tell you.

But a good commander will KNOW - of course, that'd mean leaving their well-defended, air conditioned office once in a while...

I do not, however, reccommend the Legion's "cure".
"The only cure for Cafard is a loaded rifle and plenty of targets!"
Old Legion Saying.

DREAMTROVE

Suicide is overwhelmingly chemical. Also, if a suicide attempt is unsuccessful, it's very unlikely that they will try again. That's just statistics speaking. The drugs that they give soldiers boost your adrenalin, norep and dopamine, but they can do so at the cost of serotonin. Chemistry can make or break a person in a bad situation. High cortisol levels from the stress will also affect the situation as above.
