Cops what a joke. They have guns, vests, and suvs and still can't bull rush the jackass. Cho popped off a few victims before the police did anything. The white collar world must be full of bigots who call each other names. Man I get called names every where I go. I do enjoy farting in a full elevator and blaming it on the illegal.

Kinko? What am I, a copy shop?

What's the matter, PussyCat? Never met a black man you didn't think was going to rob you? Whites like you who are scared of everyone non-white are the true racists. I don't pay "that mexican" anything to rake my yard; I rake it myself. And - SHOCK! - I'm WHITE! Yup, I'm white and I do my own yardwork! I know pig-headed inbred dipshits like you don't think white people are capable of doing their own work anymore, but some of us actually take pride in doing for ourselves.

Bed wetter? Not so much.

"Kinko every kissed a man in a mini skirt with a cuban accent. Makes ya sweat thinking about that."

Ummm... I'm really not sure what you're even trying to say on this one. More of your usual backwoods gibberish, I suppose. Have I ever kissed a man in a mini skirt with a Cuban accent? 'Fraid not. Sounds like you have, though; you seem to have all the details memorized. Maybe it's your favorite masturbatory fantasy, eh? You conservatives DO like you homosexuality deeply closeted and repressed, so maybe if you put a skirt on him, you won't be gay. ;)

Now, shouldn't you get back to starching your hood and getting ready for the big cross-burnin' you're hosting at the trailer park?

I do find it somewhat offensive that the cops come in, set up a defensive perimeter and dig in for their own defense, then sit back and wait for the shooter to either kill themselves, all their targets, or start making demands.

If they're gonna do that, then their claims of protecting us are pure bunk - and looked at in a certain light, concerning their support for victim-disarmement zones, one could in fact consider them accomplices.

Add in their "advice" in such situations (stay put, bunker up and don't engage) it almost seems like their helping the shooters, doesn't it ?

One thing of note is a loophole in some of these policies, mind - they specifically state FIREARM, you see ?

The Taser C2 with a quick-detatch mount to my prosthetic legs main shaft is not, in fact, a firearm.

Just a thought.

-Frem

PS. While they try like hell to avoid telling you this, the C2 is a one-shot weapon, and thus useless against multiple assailants, just so you know.

Another (white American) version of the basic plot (only in this one cops get killed):

Gunmen Kills Three Pittsburgh Police Officers

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) ― A man opened fire on officers during a domestic disturbance call Saturday morning, killing three of them, a police official said. One witness reported hearing hundreds of shots. Poplawski was arrested after a several-hour standoff.

One friend, Edward Perkovic, said Poplawski feared "the Obama gun ban that's on the way" and "didn't like our rights being infringed upon." Vire said his friend had an AK-47 rifle and several powerful handguns, including a .357 Magnum.

Another friend, Joe DiMarco, said Poplawski had been laid off from his job at a glass factory earlier this year. DiMarco said he didn't know the name of the company, but knew Poplawski had been upset about losing his job.

Yeah, but a lotta that is typical post-incident villainisation, too.

Seriously, I rather doubt he had a class-III full auto AK-47, instead of some completely legal civvie sport version of it, not to mention a lotta folk pack .357's and they act like that by itself is some kinda crime ?

Also, police tactics tend to escalate these situations needlessly, though that wasn't the case here, and frankly, EVERYONE who owns a gun at all is somewhat concerned about the fact that this administration *appears* to have no respect for the Second Amendment.

I say appears, cause what they're sayin is one thing, but what most of em are doing is actually political posturing that poses little threat, but has the effect of causing needless social upset for political points, which politicizing stories like this contributes to, which then contributes more social upset into a pretty bad fear cycle.

The guy had serious issues which weren't being addressed to begin with if he was gonna draw a weapon on his mother over the conduct of his puppy, honestly, which damn well shoulda been addressed long before this cause if someone *IS* unstable, of COURSE you don't want em around guns, much less in possession of em.

Much as I dislike the police, a situation like this one devolved into, with an armored, homicidal perp who fired first, innocent person trapped in the basement, and officers down, is the actual REASON to have a SWAT team.

The three guys who went down in this do deserve full honors, it came with the job, and they stood to it even at the cost of their lives - Officer Eric Kelly in particular, in my opinion.

The cops in this case did it right, from top to bottom, hell, even took the guy alive, surprisingly - but it still strikes me as a senseless waste cause it never shoulda come to this in the first place, and by not addressing the root cause cause it's so much easier to blame the guns, stuff like this is inevitable.

The lack of discreet, affordable, non-stigmatised, non-politicized mental health care is at the heart of it a far more dangerous issue than gun ownership, if you ask me.

-Frem

*Re: .357 Revolver

This is actually a common and well recommended self defense arm because it's as simple to use as a crowbar, about as reliable as one, and can load .38 Special rounds for practice use as well as the heavier .357 Magnum for personal protection.

.38 Special and .357 Magnum are the same bullet, the difference is in the length of the casing and thus the strength of the charge behind that bullet.

So you can use .38 Special in a .357 Mag revolver, but just don't do it the other way, cause the cylinder of a lighter pistol isn't built to handle it.

Everything else - from Wong supposedly being illegal, to Poplawski supposedly having an AK-47 - is just so much rabid gossip masquerading as news. IMHO.

Yup-yup. I hate to piss on anybody's parade, but if guns were outlawed tomorrow and they all magically disappeared the day after that, and I wanted to "go postal" and do what this douchebag did, I could pretty easily do so with nothing more than a few gallons of gasoline and a case of wine bottles and some rags.

It's not the weapons, it's the fucked-up mindset that tells these fuckers that it's good to take as many with 'em as they can. If you wanna kill yerself, fine. It's not my cup of tea, but you feel free to have at it. Just stop trying to take the whole goddam world down with you! The rest of us might not be quite as miserable here as these assholes are.

I just hope that if I ever reach a point of desperation and a pit as deep as these people seem to have found, that I have a loaded pistol and the strength and fortitude to use it - on myself and no one else!

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello Frem,

Sadly, even when they focus on the weapons, they usually get all the details wrong. How often have you read about a criminal being caught with 'the semiautomatic civilian version of a military assault rifle?'

I never have.

If I am ever arrested, god forfend, and my house searched, the papers will doubtless publish that a .357 magnum revolver and a shotgun was confiscated from my home, along with 'a stash' of over 500 rounds of ammunition.

Less likely are they to note that my home contains no .357 magnum ammunition, that the revolver was a single-action copy of a 19th century weapon, or that the shotgun was a copy of an antique double-barrel shotgun with exposed hammers.

Such details run counter to the spin.

If my SKS happened to be home at the time, they'd likely further note that a Russian Assault Rifle was found during the search. Russian Assault Rifles sell newspapers and generate web hits.

Vicious 10 shot, 9 pound, internal magazine, semiautomatic weapon issued to Eastern Bloc forces in 1945. Quaintly obsolete on the day it was designed, yet still relatively accurate and reliable. The only reliable centerfire rifle, in fact, that I could purchase for 150 bucks.

They might mention that price, though, either to alarm the citizenry that the criminally destitute can purchase weapons cheaply, or in order to suggest that the weapon is a 'Saturday Night Special' firearm that no respectable citizen would deign to own.

Anthony:

Good luck tracking down an SKS for $150 these days. Last few I've seen have been at least double that.

They would, I am absolutely sure, mention its underfolding bayonet. After all, the only thing more deadly than a 60-year-old "assault rifle" is a knife. ;)

I've never understood why people get so freaky about bayonets on military-surplus rifles. It's as if they think having a spike on the end of the gun makes it somehow more dangerous. They're more worried that you might stab someone with your "assault rifle" than they are that you might shoot someone with it!

In all honesty, after about 1920 or so, post WWI and in an era which made glory charges suicidal due to the advent of the machinegun (but try telling generals that, even NOW!) the primary reason for a bayonet, other than getting your rations open, was psychological.

Of course, I mounted one on my personal for a gag - I was lugging an M60A1 with a freakin AA barrel on it, a weapon so ludicrously large in comparison to it's wielder already that the itty bitty blade on the end was just plain comic.

I'm 5'6" and 130lbs soakin wet with boots on, and since the M60 I lugged was one of those halfass interm versions which never made it into production, I don't have a pic for you, and most of the images you'll find are of the E3/E4 mini short barrel, which lead to the weapons demise as the shorter, lighter barrel lost most of it's effective range and punch, and well as heating and losing accuracy much faster.

Best I can do for ya, complete with hillbilly handler...

Take a look at that monster at 0:24 and add about eighteen inches and a slightly thicker barrel, and imagine it carried by puny little me, and THEN picture a freakin bayonet on it.

Of course, I was playing to it a little, cause deliberately establishing a rep as a wackjob got me out of much of the BS I thoroughly despised like details and paperwork - would YOU trust the guy lugging that horror for supply re-order ?

Frem, I know you've remarked a few times on the omnipresence of the cheapie Mosin-Nagant rifles, but this along may make you want to track one down...

I got mine, and it had a little "instruction manual" that had been translated from the original, which was WWII era. It's got the side-folder bayonet, which is about a 14" long triple-sided "spike" style bayonet, which folds back along the side of the rifle's stock.

Anyways, the manual says that if you should happen to stick the bayonet in someone and it gets stuck, you can "loosen" the flesh and bone by firing a round or two into the offender, so you can get the bayonet out. Pretty gruesome stuff, but what I was thinking was, "If I've still got ammo in the damned thing [and it only holds 5 rounds], why on Earth am I sticking the bayonet into people in the first place? Just firing off a round is enough to burst their eardrums, even if it doesn't hit them!"

And seriously, when I let my buddy shoot it, he was on the next lane over, behind a wooden partition, and when he fired that beast, I felt the concussion. It tends to move a lot of air around when it goes off. There was a list of "manliest rifles", and the Nagant was definitely on it. The author claimed that even if you didn't hit your target, if you fired the rifle within 30 feet of them, they'd spend the next six months walking around yelling "WHAT? WHAT?!?"

You musta missed it, Mikey...

I do have a Mosin-Nagant, an old Finnish one which is beat and battered, with a worn down and stained stock, which I got for like sixty bucks at a gunshow some time back - and one of those stains is likely left by the original wielders demise.

It's a fairly ugly, brutal lookin piece of work with a muzzle blast just short of an artillery piece, punishing recoil, and somewhat unwieldly for a guy my size - but it's damned accurate in the hands of someone who can actually shoot it, which ain't me cause of depth perception issues.

I figure, anyone far enough away that this is a problem, imma just bunker down with Forquet and wait...

Seriously, would YOU risk getting in range of someone wielding that horror from good cover if you could help it ?

Hell, I wouldn't even have to look, just listen for the crash of boots and chronic wheezing of some idiot lugging 85+lbs of armor and gear as they slowly lumber their way into range, and then vaporise them before their exhausted ass can lever their mighty mattel plastic piece into position and pray it actually goes bang when they pull the trigger.

Yup, I didn't know you had one - they ARE a bit unwieldy, but fun in a masochistic sort of way. I got one of the M44 models; they're still not much more than $60. I've never been able to put more than 10 rounds through it in one session, just because it beats living hell out of my shoulder.

It's weird, because everyone I talk to who shoots the Romak PSL or the SVD Dragunov says the felt recoil on those rifles is negligible, but they fire the exact same 7.62x54r round as the Nagant. The ONLY thing I can think of that would lessen the recoil is the fact that those other rifles are semi-auto, gas-operated units, and must soak up the majority of the recoil when using its energy to cycle the action, whereas the bolt-action Nagant puts ALL of that recoil energy straight through the stock into your shoulder. And it can't help that the damned butt-plate on the stock is a piece of steel!

Yeah, it's a bit of a silly piece, but if you could put 5 rounds downrange with that monster and someone was STILL advancing on you, I think you'd have good reason to believe that you will NEED Forquet soon!

Mikey, anything that gets through THAT freakin fullisade alive is gonna need a wooden stake to finish it off.

Even worse, now Alliance has a THIRTY round drum, and I have a pre-production version already on the way.

Sure, it's mongo bloody overkill, but I don't live but four minutes from site three, and what with the local home invasions, one of which I scared off less than a week ago, I spoke to the management of the complex where I reside about their policy...

Which was related to me in no uncertain terms by the owner and manager both...
"Go ahead and take out the whole front wall, you want to, we'll replace it, just make sure you get THEM when you do it so all their buddies learn not to come here!"
So it seems I got clearance, and my front wall faces the woods since I picked a unit AWAY from other people cause I like my privacy and solitude.

It's makin me a bit nervous that the local bad guys have tripped to the fact that we've got almost no police protection out here - cause while I got confidence in my own ability to make a fire/no-fire decision even half asleep and on the fly, I worry about someone with less training or experience causing an incident.

The LAST thing we need is a knee-jerk gun ban in combination with no police coverage, and the local criminal element being aware of it, that's a nightmare waiting to happen.

It's the mindset our world is feeding these psychos:

-Do whatever you want wherever you want.
-Talk on your cell phone in a crowded store full of shoppers around you. It's your life these other people around you will be forced to listen to your conversation(if they don't like it they can leave the store) because the world revolves around you. Fuck common courtesy..this is the way of the world.
-I'm #1. I will not accept a humbled existence. If there is something I want, I will buy it. If it's too expensive I will charge it. If I can't pay the enormous debt on my $300,000 house(I got the loan when I was unemployed) I will simply go Bankrupt. There is only a 2 year limit after to apply for credit again.
-My mind is superior to most. I am always right in every argument, or discussion. I find my opponent's views amusing. I will never be wrong..at anything. Being wrong about something is so old, and boring. My way is best.
-This is my life, and the fact that I live means that everyone around me is secondary. I am owed everything the world has to offer. If something doesn't go my way, then I wouldn't want to be the someone that opposes me.

It's scary, but there are many, many people that feel what I just wrote. Our future as a species gets more cryptic with every decade since the 60's.
