Cops like $25,000 cash per traffic stop.

The comments are worthwhile...

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

Saw that story on one of the gun boards.

It seems pretty obvious that they *think* he's shipping ammo somewhere (Dominican Republic, probably), but it doesn't sound like they've made their case, and they jumped a li'l too early in arresting the guy.

But what's the cutoff point? At what point do you go past "personal use" and reach "arsenal" status? Is it arbitrary? Is it for the cops to decide? Is it up to the prosecutor's discretion?

30,000 rounds DOES seem like rather a lot; I've only got about 5K rounds myself, which is about a couple years' worth for the way I go through it. But if I'd had the spare cash, I'd have bought 30K rounds back when it was cheap, because I knew damn well it was going to go up.

Oh, wait - am I not supposed to buy low and sell high when it comes to ammo?

Oh, and if it was 30K rounds of mostly .22 ammo, that's like, what?, a couple hundred bucks worth at today's prices? ;) (In all seriousness, last time I bought .22 ammo, I paid $25/500 rounds, so about $1500 would get you 30K .22 rounds). And 30,000 .22 rounds might just be enough to wound somebody!

(I'm kidding about that last part.)

Quick note, just for the gunbunnys, FYI.

That whole PVC and a GPS trick ?

You *DO* know that if all hell breaks loose one of the first things to go is gonna be either the sat networks or civilian access to em right ?

Go old school, a nice length of rope and a pair of well known trees, if you wanna be able to actually FIND it again - just sayin.

So what if he's selling guns and ammo? That's not a crime. That's called earning a living.

Which is something govt employees seem to have no comprehension of.

Any person can do that without an FFL dealer license.

Quote:

"A person who makes occasional sales, exchanges, or purchases of firearms for the enhancement of a personal collection or for a hobby, or who sells all or part of his personal collection of firearms" or "a person who makes occasional repairs" or "who occasionally fits special barrels, stocks, or trigger mechanisms to firearms" is not considered "engaged in the business" and is not required to obtain an FFL. As applied to manufacturers and importers of firearms or ammunition, "engaged in the business" means, similarly, a regular business with the principal objective of livelihood.

You only need an FFL dealer license if you own a store. ATF will not sell you an FFL if you work out of your home.

But if he's an illegal alien, cops will never arrest and deport him for that, and the media mafia will never mention that fact.

Libertarian answer:

So long as you do not violate the rights of others or commit criminal acts, your arsenal can be as large as you'd like it to be.

I myself do not hold anything like that in my gun safe. I have shells for hunting small game when the season is in, and some ordanince for home protection. That's it.

It's also a great financial investment for later resale. No need to fire a shot. Ammo can last 50 years if you keep it dry.

Cops want to steal those 30,000 bullets for cops to resell and shoot. Plus thay get to keep the $25,000 cash, and stealing that cash makes it very hard for a defendant to hire a lawyer and WIN.

Ah yes, the three G's of survivalism
Guns
Groceries
Gold

I remember an episode of the TV show lost where Locke was pulled over by a cop who wanted to know what was under the tarp covering his truck bed. "Guns and Groceries" was the reply. I heard that and it reminded me of some people I know in Libertarian circles.

Now is the time to go shopping for guns, groceries and gold. Ammo and gold are in short supply, and grocery stores will be empty 24 hours after a real emergency. Ask New Orleans.

Growing a garden is actually very cost effective, even when buying expensive power tools like tillers. It's also the only way to get fresh food. Canning supplies are very cheap.

Most of my neighbors have LARGE gardens, and tractors. And shoot their AR15s from their driveway.

As for 30K 22 rounds, maybe he's got a Gatlin Gun?

You know....

Instead of burying it in the dirt...

Why not bury it in the brain-pans of those that want to take away your rights?

Just saying is all.

Oh look...here comes the ATF...
