See an abandoned car in your neighborhood with windows down and key in ignition, then call police to report a suspicious vehicle... GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL.

Your tax dollars at work, once again inventing shit to charge you with, just like Flint, MI's ridiculous baggy pants law, which if you think about it, hearkens back to feudal sumptuary laws and dress codes.

Get more for your money, and less hassle, hire your OWN police.

Hmmmm... Makes me feel kinda bad for calling in that car that obvioulsy WAS stolen and ditched in front of my house a couple years ago! It was an Accord, too - and the reason I called it in was because, like I said, it quite obviously WAS stolen - broken driver's-side window, smashed steering column cover, jimmied ignition. I touched NOTHING on that car, just looked in, saw what the dealio was, and called it in.

Why did I call it in in the first place? Two reasons: One, self-preservation. I'm a "Honda Guy" - and am known as such in the neighborhood. I had at the time an Accord, an Integra (Acura a.k.a. Honda), three CRXs, and a Civic. Having a stolen Accord around just REALLY looked incriminating, I thought, even if it would have been shockingly amateurish to steal such a thing and leave it in front of my own house.

The second reason? I've had friends with Hondas have their shit stolen, and if it ever happens to you, you'll understand. I wanted the owner to know that his car had been found, at least.

The biggest car thieves are the cops and their mafia towing contractors.

Towtruckers get free title from state police for any car listed as stolen in NCIC.

Like I said B4, I never got my 2 cars back, but 100 towtruckers and a court clerk got fired.

I don't think you've got that quite right, or Austin is far different from your area...

When my car was stolen and recovered, I got it back and still have the title. And my car was even delivered to my house by a tow truck, since it wasn't drivable when they found it.

Does it suck that I had to pay to get it out of impound? Sure, but not as much as it would suck to NOT get it back at all!

And nothing I can find in the DMV or on the title itself shows that it was ever given to the towing company.
