I'm getting one helluva laugh out of the right's pissing and moaning about Grayson putting up the "If you get sick, their healthcare plan wants you to die quickly." What a gas! After all the death panels, "healthcare will be bad for vets"..."disabled"..."elderly" (and who else? I lost track), and all the rest, right there on the floor of the House, they complain about ONE Democrat doing the same? It's great!!!

I hear that when he did it, the RNC thought "oh, boy, this will end his career" and he is now #1 on their hit list. Unfortunately, that isn't quite what happened. The four (legitimate, and KNOWN) opponents for his seat promptly dropped out of the race, and the RNC has been feverishly finding other candidates, getting them to move from other districts to compete (two of them Tea Baggers: Good luck!)..

A poll Grayson's people took showed that the FAKE names they put in polled higher than those actually intending to run now, and his website pulled in $300,000 in the first three weeks after his little speech. Gee, y'think there are more out there than me who like seeing a Dem grow a pair for once? I think it's a kick in the pants!

Grayson's website: Congressmanwithguts.com. I contributed. Woosy Dems...we need more who'll speak up!

He's definitely got a pair, I'll give him that.

The Mil-Indi-Complex hates his guts with a passion, and that's a plus too.

Hmm, worth watchin, this one.

Ooh, the man has actually dabbled in science a little. I'm liking that, though that never seems to actually have any bearing on stance. Party tends to decide that.

Cases for whistleblowers again war profiteers... One against a contractor for ten million, paid for straight from the NY Federal Reserve. Hmm. Ten million technically is small potatoes for these people, but I guess everyone wants to avoid being Spitzered. We may want to watch out for that here though, I suspect Repubs can and will find dirt.

How'd y'all like his "apology"? After his "Republicans want you to die quickly" spiel, when the Republicans were demanding he apologize, did any of you actually hear his apology? He stood in the House of Representatives and said, "I apologize to the dead and to their families."

Quote:

...the confrontational Florida representative said he wanted to apologize because according to a Harvard study, more than 44,000 Americans die every year because they lack health insurance.

"That is ten times more than the number of Americans who have died in Iraq and who died in 9/11," he continued. "But that was just once. This is every single year. That's right. Every single year."

"I call upon the Democratic members of the House, I call upon the Republican members of the House, I call upon all of us to do our jobs for the sake of America, for the sake of those dying people and their families," he went on to say. "I apologize to the dead and their families that we haven't voted sooner to end this holocaust in America."

Well, let's see... he's Jewish, and he's dabbled in science. What more "dirt" do they need? That should be enough to start with.

Hee, hee, hee, Anthony, I have no doubt you're right. Heck, if he can't FIND any, he'll make some up, right? Isn't that the usual M.O.?

Damn, Mike, you did it AGAIN! I forgot to include his "apology", which I enjoyed just as much as the original statement.

Be nice if this guy has some substance beyond having balls, we could use another who actually THINKS and doesn't mind speaking the truth.

Just heard one about an insurance company that couldn't drop a guy with a serious disease (forget what) so they could cut his home nursing care, so they dropped EVERYONE with that disease. And they're up in arms that Grayson said their health plan was "if you get sick, die quickly"?? I think that's kind of the definition of it, isn't it? "Die quickly if you get sick and we have to pay out, or we'll find some way to avoid paying long-term medical care by hook or by crook 'cuz we gotta protect those heavenly profits, by gum".

Have no fear, Niks - the Democratic party is FINALLY starting to line up behind Grayson, because they've seen that having the balls to actually "commit truth" on The Hill is paying dividends to his campaign coffers. Donations are rolling in from all over the country, and even Nancy Pelosi has shot down the idea of him apologizing to Republicans. In her words, "If he apologizes, EVERYBODY has to apologize." Not much chance of that, eh?

While Grayson might not be any kind of real power in the party, his stand has, in some ways, made him the de facto party leader, at least on the issue of message control.

Kudos to him!

Meanwhile, what can YOU do to support him? Well, obviously, send money. If money's tight, then send letters of support - to him, to the party's national HQ, to your Senators and Representatives, etc.

Hello,

I find that it is too soon yet to measure the man. However, his apparent strength is promising.

I will wait and watch to see how he continues to conduct himself before getting excited.

More than a bold statement, and more than a bold stance this one time. It will be necessary to know what bold stances he will take in the future. It's not enough to see a man yell 'Charge' and ride off... we must be sure he consistently charges in the correct direction.

Hmph. And if history has shown, a bold new speaker for the Democrats making himself heard doesn't mean the Democrats fall into line behind HIM, it means the party sinks their claws in and makes him one of THEM.

I'm bitter today. Well, like what everyone else has said. Let's just keep our eyes open.

Yup, I agree all around. And hey, Rue, nothin' wrong with congressmanwithnuts, either, 'cuz he showed he's GOT some, eh? I'm not jumping on the guy's bandwagon entirely, just giving him kuddos for finally shooting back.

Me, I'd rather see NONE of this bullshit, but given the vast amount of such things I've seen from the right, I enjoyed seeing them get back some of their own!

Yes, Mike, I contributed to his website--ain't got much, but I contribute to various causes (usually animal rights--but NOT PETA!!!--or environmental) and support my reps, which is easy as they're Boxer, Feinstein, Woolsey and, to a lesser extent, Pelosi. But some things stick out enough to want to contribute--like the free clinics being held currently, I contributed to them, too.

I wouldn't call him any kind of party "leader", unlike the others, I'm not that fast to jump on ANYONE as "leader"--but I hope you're right about him getting them going; there ARE hopeful signs, at least...

Thanx, Sig, can I find what he said on the internet via Real Time? Gonna look; his interview on Maddow was refreshing, saying the dems had been conned for months, now were finally realizing it's not about bipartisanship, but about life and death. 'Bout time!

Byte, only time will tell, eh? Me, I'm holding a good thought. Guy's got a sense of humor, and seems sincere. We'll have to see how long that lasts.
