Yanno, I was waiting for Biden to slip the knife in, and here we go, cause this has Joe's fingerprints ALL over it.

Dems go after anti-trust exemption for insurers

All I got to say on it at the moment is HELL YES.

And if they word it right, the Auto Insurers are in for a world of unexpected justice too, soon thereafter.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." -- William Casey, Reagan's presidential campaign manager & CIA Director (from first staff meeting in 1981)

That's because the insurance industry badly overplayed its hand with that latest study, that even the people hired to gin it up claimed upon its release was bogus. Then they insisted they WOULD raise premiums, no doubt about it, whether it was warranted or not, unless Congress backed down on even talking about a public option.

At that point, I think Congress finally may have said, "I think we've heard just about e-fucking-nuff," and less than subtly reminded them that they have an antitrust exemption solely at the whim of Congress, and it can go away without delay.

Oh, and by the way, on an unrelated - well, SEMI-related - note, that's also how House Democrats are planning on using this whole bullshit "defund ACORN" brouhaha to also defund ALL corrupt contractors. Careful what you start hollering for, Republicans! :)

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Kinda interesting to see them armwrestling in public like that. Usually it goes on behind closed doors....

My take on it is that this is very much intentional. The Democrats have "outed" the insurance industry at this key moment, specifically to put pressure on them, in the right place at the right time, to get them to back off a bit.

This one wasn't sourcing so much as knowing how certain things work - in particular the convoluted gears inside Bidens strange mind, cause his operational and commo security is second to none.

That's a DAMNED dangerous dude, he ever wanted to be, but thankfully he's not that kind of ambitious.

Still, this one is a classic, hit em with a false front, give ground in the center encouraging them to chase and string out their lines...

Then pop in your hidden reserve, trap em in a pocket and hammer them into submission with your artillery, easy-peasy-pollyanna.

This move is the reserve poppin up, and yanno what ?

I do believe I hear the thunder of the guns off in the distance.

Wait for it...

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

Uh, hate to tell you, but there was a guy (Chuck Schumer maybe?) who co-authored the bill to kill their anti-trus status on tonight, and said they've been wanting to do it for a long time. Maybe give Biden credit for bringing it to the fore, or pushing it, if you want, but he didn't start it.

And yes, I'd heard that de-funding ACORN can be challenged because it singles out one organization, and the retort can be de-funding ALL contractors who have been to have done illegal things...and woe be to many, like Lockheed and KBR and Halliburton and sooo many others, if they do it. Be nice if it happened.

The anti-trust-exemption thing should have happened LONG ago, as I heard tonight, 99% of Americans probably never KNEW they had an exemption, so here's hoping they lose it post haste! Think that might hurt as much as a public option, at least in the short run??

DREAMTROVE

An end to any sort of subsidy would be a good thing. 4 trillion dollars just buys corruption. I have to say, yes, let's see an antitrust bust not only on insurance, but field wide
