Hunter puts money ahead of the United States Constitution. But that's no surprise, is it?

That is one thing that I disagree with Ron Paul on. Love the man to death, but he wants an amendment to the constitution to remove birthright citizenship. (Shaking head)

I heartily accept the motto, "That government is best which governs least"; and I should like to see it acted up to more rapidly and systematically. Carried out, it finally amounts to this, which also I believe — "That government is best which governs not at all"; and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have. -- HDT

Oh, but Mike, you missed his BEST comment right after that:

It takes more than just walking across the border to become an American citizen. It's what's in our souls.
That pretty much says where he comes from...

No surprise here, but I actually agree with the statement. How about... If you are illegal, your kids are illegal, and THEIR kids are illegal, and THEIR kids are illegal... At about the 4th generation, if you are still here, we will let you apply for citizenship status.

Again, I really dont know.

What do we DO with these people?

Exploit them. Offer them slave wages, benefit from the economy that they support, and then despise them for it.

I suspect that if I was born bestiaremilgado instead of mincingbeast, i would hop a border to give my vile progeny a better shot at life...and also more opportunities for rape and murder and so forth.

If you're saying you agree with his second statement, that's no surprise to anyone. You probably DO think it's "in our soul". That's pure bullshit. Again; my mother came from France, and Jo came from England. Neither of them had it in THEIR souls, either, according to what you believe.

If we were able to count up all illegals in this country, we'd find quite a few from all around the world. It's just easier to GET here from the South, so they get the finger pointed at THEM.

The answer is the same for all of this: immigration reform which allows ANY illegal person here presently to go to the end of the line to apply for citizenship. They are all already paying taxes and either abiding by our laws or being jailed and deported.

with all due respect, nikki, if you are already here paying your taxes and mowing lawns, and robbing and raping and murdering on weekends, what incentive do you have to go to the end of the line and turn yourself in? absolutely none, which is why any attempt to get around the issue of amnesty runs into an intractable problem. especially when there are millions so similarly situated.

no, the answer, as i have long suspected, is either learning spanish, or embracing nuclear war.

Yeah, you're right...let 'em rob and rape and murder and pillage. As long as they only do it on weekends, what the hell, eh? The regular CITIZENS can do it on the weekdays while they're out working and paying taxes. What was I thinking?

Wait a minute - are you actually saying we should just ignore the Constitution if we don't like what it says?

Really?

Come on, REALLY?

Granted, you might claim that the Fourteenth Amendment doesn't really count, because it's just an AMENDMENT to the Constitution. So I have to ask, pre-emptively if you will...

What's the Second Amendment, again?

Are you saying states should be free to pass laws that completely ignore or contravene the 2nd?

Y'all *DO* realize our forefathers, and our nations founders, were also technically illegal immigrants, right ?

Am I the only one who sees the hypocrisy of this ?

Am I the only one who has even *mentioned* immigration reform as at least a partial solution ?

Yeesh.

no, no hypocrisy there. whether someone is illegal or not is a matter of law--and i'm not sure if the native americans had immigration laws, and quotas, etc...in fact, i suspect that they didn't. so our forefathers may have been assholes and invaders, but they were most certainly not technically illegal immigrants.

Has anyone else considered the cruelest irony of all? The idea that somewhere in Arizona - and it absolutely WILL happen - a Native American is going to be jailed and possibly deported for not having his green card?

How fucked is this country, anyway?

Bwahahahahaahaaaa!

I would SO love to see that make the front page news and have the ACLU sue the pants off someone for it.

Frem, they would deport him to Mexico, of course, because he looks Mexican.

I won't be laughing when it happens. It's just about the cruelest goddamned thing we can do to those Americans, after all we've ALREADY done to them. Of course, given our history and theirs, I'm 100% sure they won't be surprised by it at all, but rather expect it as "normal" in their relations with the whites, just another in a long, long string of lies and broken promises.

On the other hand, Mike, if (when) that happens, if he's lucky and doesn't suffer too much, AND the ACLU gets in there and gets him a really great monetary award, I think that'd be GREAT! Long as he's okay, is returned and doesn't suffer too greatly in the process.

That would really fire some people up (as if this hasn't already; the protests, boycotts, etc, are flying left and right). Poor Arizona beer has suffered to the point where they've put on their website MADE IN NEW YORK, because they've already lost business.

In a way, it makes me proud of America. A few assholes have gone over the line; the country for the most part is rising up against them. This is a good thing. I just hope "we" win, because other states are contemplating it, now, too. Let's give 'em a good example and stop 'em before they start!

So where IS all the outrage and hand-wringing on the right over this guy? Hell, now he says he wants to change the Fourteenth Amendment to allow throwing out citizens he doesn't think are American enough!

I remember Rappy posting up video of some tea-bagger badgering a Congressman about the Constitution; why hasn't he weighed in on this guy?

Could it be because Rappy agrees with him, and wants to do away with the parts of the Constitution he finds inconvenient? Hmmmm... I really have to wonder...

DREAMTROVE

CTTS,

Good point. Ron Paul has a logic to hi argument, but it's ultimately flawed: Sure, people who can't fill out paperwork become Americas. Flaw: So What? Lots of Americans already can't fill out paperwork.

Mince,

Also a good point, but you're painting a picture of Mexico as a hell hole, which doesn't reflect reality, parse the civil war. But for all practical purposes Mexican are Americans anyhow, so I don't see as it matters anyway, to the point that even the Mexican civil war is a direct result of executive orders of US presidents, this one and the last one.

Wulf,

No point at all. You're supporting slavery. Think about it and try to come up with a better answer. I think it's a gimme that the one you just gave will gain tracking absolutely nowhere in our govt, regardless of who gets elected.

Niki,

At the risk of being quait, language.

Frem,

Screw the solution. As I posted before, for people who eschew the idea of govt, the libertarian crowd seems to have it in for people the govt is *not* tracking. Seriously, does this make any sense at all? Here's a solution. Learn Spanish, got to Mexico, and then sneak back in. But not to Arizona.

Mike,

Re-native americans, that thought had actually occurred to me, but I wasn't here to say it ;) The other irony is that this "problem" is oft identified by California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Only one of those is arguably Spanish, the others are, of course, just Mexican.

Oh, and Mike, don't be jonesing for a rap-bashing, there are other people to talk to ....
