I declined his "diagnostic ". Turned out to be a loose screw for the AC compressor mount.

Removed the screw and the obsolete mount.... ran like a whisper on the road......

I've called round three for safety reasons, we're under flood watch, flash flood watch, getting hammered by a thunderstorm with freakin downpour (and my hands are like the only dry part of me) and possibly gonna lose power some time tonight.

All of itself, a pain in the ass, but then we got a tornada watch, which kicked to warning, and then the "tornado spotted" siren went off at the end of round one... and just as I was opening the door for round three, it went off again, oh heck no.

There's six inches of water in some of the lower parts of site three as well, and some of it got into the ankle unit of my prosthetic, which has now jammed in rigid fallback mode, so...

I know one thing for sure, reputation be damned, I am NOT goin out there for this one!

We call that "Wednesday" around here. Really. Wednesday evening, we were under the same kinds of conditions, with baseball-sized hail thrown in for good measure, and 60mph winds and a cloud front that glowed GREEN, I shit you not. And I spent the evening in a pub crawl with one of my oldest, dearest friends from back home, because he was in town for his birthday. We figured that if the world were ending, Jaeger-bombs and Jameson shots on top of Shiner Bock longnecks was probably the best way to watch it end.

Wow; you'll think I'm nuts for saying it, but oh how I envy you (except for the tornado stuff...). We're already into the 80s, and it's begun. The late and frequent rains lasted so long the hills still have a slighlate and frequent blush of green in places, but it's going "golden" fast.

When I first learned there were places where it actually RAINED in Summer, I was so jealous. Then I learned that they get snow and freezing cold in Winter, so sighed and figured I should be careful what I wished for. But I miss it something fierce. Now we're into the Summer pattern: Fog in the morning, and once it burns off it gets hot. REAL "Summer" will come in September or so, and then no fog, so we go up to the 100s. Yuck.

If you could possibly send some of that rain and hail and wind our ways, gosh, we'd be eternally grateful...not the tornadoes tho', you can keep those!

Our high is 108 today. 109 tomorrow. Sooner or later we'll hit 115.

The air conditioner broke again. Seems to strain itself to destruction every summer. It's 20 year old unit, and something goes every time the thermostat jumps past 100. If I was smart I'd have a 1000 dollar reserve for repairs every season.

If I was real smart, I'd replace the thing. Come on, Lotto! ;-)

Yeeesh. I can hardly wait. We've yet to hit 100º this year, but I've no doubt that it's coming. And I generally try to keep a "slush fund" for just such emergencies. It's always a dicey time of year when the temperature gets so high that the A/C system stays on 24 hours a day, and just can't keep the house cool enough. My old place was like that; I'm glad the new one ISN'T!

My A/C finally died its slow death in my car. I haven't found anyone locally who is willing to put R12 refrigerant in it. So that's the end of that car. I've been running it into the ground, letting it go its way, refusing to put money into it since it was stolen, recovered, and subsequently run off the road, tweaking the chassis, and now I do believe I'm done with it. Now I have to decide what its future holds. I can sell it, probably get $1500 or so out of it, or I can part it out and re-use the good bits in my other CRX. Decisions, decisions...

Damn tornado hit southeast of here, tore up a cabelas and a burger king, tossed a few mobile homes around a bit, ripped a few roofs off, but the damage was a lot less than it coulda been, thankfully.

Was gonna dig out a video clip from one of the CCTV cams, but the link to the feed has been compromised and is trying to install malware, so imma close off and go make an *issue* of that with the dumbass server op.
