When/if this damned thing ever passes if/when they get the Gulf cleaned up, it will get its best chance to recover if it can be re-seeded. On that:

A good portion of the Gulf of Mexico is off limits to fishermen because of the oil spill crisis. But Steven Masser has an idea.

His Martin County based company, Scientific Associates, raises shrimp. Not by the thousands, but by the millions. Two million shrimp a month right now.

Most of them are just used for bait. But Masser has submitted a proposal to BP and the United Command to supply the Gulf region with 100 million baby shrimp.

"We have a resource here and an expertise that we can apply that we believe will help with the restoration effort in the Gulf when that happens," said Masser.

Using patented technology that allows them to recycle seawater without discharging it back into the environment, the Indiantown facility is the only one in the region that grows the native Florida pink and white shrimp.
