Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

This sort of attitude is what's wrong with the Republican party, to my eyes. The Republicans should be anxious to cut funding for 'Car Talk' AND the military. It should not be some bizarre contest between the two.

How much larger could the budget reductions become if instead of quibbling about nickels and dimes, the Republican party put its best foot forward by reducing the defense department to meet the needs of defense, its Constitutional mandate.

While they are fond of telling us what the Founding Fathers wanted, Republicans have forgotten the utter horror those Founders would feel at the notion of multiple wars being fought simultaneously, and American troops occupying multiple European and Asian nations.

There is no credibility in their current position.

America loves a winner!

Palin is 100% correct.

"Car Talk" never was nor ever should it be a part of the vital function of the Federal Govt.

Nor should war in Iraq.

I forget - which one has cost us more?

How about oil subsidies? Do those cost less than NPR?

Farm subsidies? What about federal aid for tornado victims?

Raptor doesn't think. He swallows, then he parrots, end of story. If he ever took the time to actually sit down and THINK about an issue, the sky would fall.

The GOP has been very busy trying to eradicate anything that might benefit anyone but the rich, while totally ignoring the wars which help MAKE the rich. Their agenda is perfectly obvious from their ACTIONS, from the fact that they won't even consider slicing anything that fits their agenda and are focused on slicing everything that DOESN'T fit their agenda, including social issues which have NOTHING to do with the debt.

No compromise, no recognition that some of the things they want to chop are GOOD for the American people, and cost damned little, while wars are BAD for the American people (except no-bid contractors, private armies and corporations) and cost more than all the other things they want on the chopping block put together. Even taking a LITTLE bit away from the military-industrial complex is impossible, as far as they're concerned...even things the Pentagon DOESN'T WANT or the fraud and abuse in the military.

But that would require THINKING, rather than just nodding like a bobble-head doll.
