DALEK!

The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget is a nonpartisan group that looks at the federal budget and purposed plans and analysis them to see how they will effect the national debt. The Committee decided to look at the plans put out but the current crop of GOP Presidential Candidates to see how much their plans will reduce the debt. Only one of them does, so here are the numbers.

Mitt Romney's plan would add $250 billion to the debt over ten years.

Rick Santorum's plan would add $4.5 trillion (yes trillion) to the national debt over the same time.

Newt Gingrich's plan is not to be out done as it adds $7 trillion in ten years.

It is only Ron Paul's plan that would reduce the debt by 2.2 trillion.

America loves a winner!

250 billion over 10 years is nothing.

Not adding a trillion + year year, like Obama has done, is at least a start.

Hello,

It appears only one candidate has a plan that actually addresses the problem of overspending.

Everyone else overspends.

Your right. Thing is that only one of the GOP canidates has a plan that will do what they are all claiming they can do.

Hello,

Well, I always knew which candidate I believed.

He's crazy, but he's sincere.

How bad have things gotten when "I'm sincerely crazy!" is seen as one of the GOOD campaign slogans?

And I'm sure Dubya didn't PLAN on more than doubling the national debt, but it sure worked out that way. So I'd bet that Santorum and Newt are low-balling their budgets.

Raptor's actually right here, as this would in all likelihood amount to a significant decrease in debt/GDP ratio (the economy grows a lot over 10 years).

It's not personal. It's just war.

Hello,

So, out of all the people who have planned to spend more than we make, Mitt Romney has the plan most likely to save money in a growing economy.

It's not a ringing endorsement, but it probably makes him the most fiscally correct choice of the electable Republican candidates.

Are there any plans to reduce unemployment, thus increasing the tax base?

Hello,

Everyone seems to have one plan or another, though they may be of arguable effectiveness.

Ron Paul believes that taking less from people will give them more money to stimulate the economy, for instance. Thus creating jobs. Indirectly. Also, he believes that less government regulation will spur more business activity.

But whether that actually would work as planned is debatable.
